DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Good! Become indispensable and they'll have to keep you.

That's the plan. :teeth:

What are you looking for?

[/QUOTE]

The plan is medical coding, but right now I'd take anything, well, almost anything, in the medical field just to get my foot in the door. I've been looking for records position and what not, but I have no experience in medical records, legal records yes, but not medical....so it's hard to break into.

So as a side note, the lead/supervisor in my area caught me online today. I was actually on Wikipedia looking something up when I got caught. He said, "That's not work related." To which I replied, "I was waiting for the labels to print and checked something." which was the truth, I was waiting for labels to print, which takes a while, I had a lot, so I looked something up. I haven't heard anything about it, and probably won't. Besides, I covered for his butt yesterday. He was having lunch in the cage, that's what we call it because we literally work in an inventory cage, and several people came up asking for him. I told all of them all that he was at lunch and wasn't here...so he owes me. Besides, I work my butt off and he knows it. Either way, I'm going to lay low for a while. I'll try and get on and check the Dis before work, during breaks, lunch and after work. Well, I'm exhausted. I worked in the warehouse today moving pallets around, and reorganizing, so I'm going to bed. Have a good night everyone.

Happy Thursday. It's been a cold & rainy day here, with temps to be colder in the morning. Ugh.

Morning, Dads! Got to work in another department yesterday, completely unrelated to my current job, and made a good impression with the supervisor there, so another feather in my cap. Still no offer of a job, but right now I'm beginning to think that being a temp is the way to go. Being a temp allows me to continue looking for and working towards my goal of being in the medical field. When I find that job, being a temp allows me to quit more easily when I find said medical career job. I'd hate the take an offer of a permanent job only to quit a few months later when I get the job I want. I guess I better find that job quickly before they make me an offer....unless said offer is something I can't refuse.

Salaried and OT sucks, but hopefully they compensate you well for it.

Good luck on the job. As for the offers, they come and go. Employers know there are some risk to hiring people, and if they wanted to keep there longer, they would offer them a contract with terms.

As for me, it depends on what you look at for compensation. Neither is salary. Job #1 is my teachers retirement. It isn't a lot, but it's income & health insurance for the remainder of my life. Job #2 is with the Church. Neither are very demanding, I have little supervision, and set my own schedule.

Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Dang this week is just looooongggggg. Nothing much to speak of other than our house is in full Christmas decorating mode. Place is all blown up taking down our everyday stuff and DW starting on the transformation.

Good news on the Governor front for your pension but heard this morning that the results of the election are being challenged

And it's really cold outside. Good luck on the decorations. Is your son in town or are you doing it all on your own?

There isn't much to challenge. There's no recount for Governor, and all the machines required ID, codes, and feeder ballots.

Well there's a shocker.
That's some of our famous British sarcasm, just in case anyone missed that there.

I did understand that one.

Sorry for you family loss.

But I am optimistic for the better outlook on your pension prospects.
Of course I see where the current gent in the mansion has basically vowed that he ain’t leaving so we’ll have to see how that plays out (and I fear that situation is one that will likely become more common in the future).

Oh, he's sure to try something. Can KY make the news for calling it's own National Guard in to remove the un-elected Governor? Maybe.

Oh, sure. Been legal for years. Pepsi too.

Now Pepsi should be illegal. It's bad.

Only because they all seem to have unlimited fortunes for one reason or another. Thus... there is no budget.

Your talking about the company. I'm thinking about my wife and our Christmas budget - there is no budget.

DW was a medical records clerk for a while. Good luck with the job hunt!

"Is the work getting done? Is it being done well? Yes? Than buzz off."

If only...

Teachers pension! That's awesome. My mom's a retired teacher, so much respect for teachers.

Thanks. I started the course back in the fall of '17 and finished last year. I have yet to pass the certification exam, but I'm stubborn and will continue to take it until I do pass it. Actually, I've taken a several months long break this year while I was looking for work, so I'm re-studying for it.

See, that's the the way I feel: As long as the work is getting done, and in a timely manor, buzz off. Who cares if I take a couple of minutes to cruise the internet. Unfortunately I work with people that feel that as long as you are at work then you need to be doing something every minute of the work day, even if it's busy work. I don't like to work like that. I'll work my butt off, and will work every minute of the day on projects and things that need to get done, but if you're creating busy work just to keep me busy then I get annoyed. Oh, I'll do the job, but I'll be annoyed while doing it.

Interesting... DW didn't have to write an exam or anything. Of course she was an RN at the time, so knew the lingo already. Plus we were living in the North where beggars can't be choosers. This was several... decades ago. Things are probably different now.

Yeah. Agree with all this.
A little bit brass monkeys this morning.
ooooohhh… a pirate reference, right out of the gate. pirate:
If it was a crematorium they would be shakeable as well.
Nicely done.
That's what these are:

Black Widow feigns tears as her latest ex husband is sprinkled on her tuna tartare.

I think he needs a little of your "booger sugar"
Sure! Lots lying around now.

On the Coke vs Pepsi front... so for you folks turning your collective noses up at Pepsi... when you go to a restaurant and ask for a Coke and they say they "only have Pepsi, is that okay?"... what do you do?
I always ask for Coke, but when they say that, I really don't care.

Morning from a snowy Westfield NB. We got just enough to turn the ground white, it's a sign of things to come.

I order 7UP.

Something I forgot to mention is, my boss is new, as in a few weeks new. So new he has that new boss smell, so he's trying to make a good impression.
New bosses take a while (sometimes, anyways) before they settle in and figure out micromanaging just pisses people off and accomplishes nothing.

I order 7UP.
Interesting!

I order a beer, if they don't have beer, I order a Sierra Mist, if they don't have Sierra Mist, then God bless you.

But I won't order a Rum and Pepsi!!!

That was quick!

We're efficient.

I go with something else, no Pepsi.

I'm another Pepsi fan. If they only have Coke (like Disney ), I will either order sprite, tea or just water with lemon.
It was tough when I was in Atlanta because everyone tried to say it's a Coke town (Coke HQ is in Atlanta). Don't care, don't like it.

I order 7UP.
