Question about AP rates and honeymoon planning

Hello! I’ve been pretty disconnected from the Disney universe for the last few years as I had gone through a divorce. But a year ago I met a man who shares my love of Disney and we got engaged there just two weeks ago! We are planning to honeymoon at Disney June 16-24 next year. My fiancé also purchased me an AP as a birthday gift.

I used to know the ins and outs of when discounts were offered and what resorts were typically excluded, as I frequently read these boards as a hobby. Unfortunately, I’ve not kept up recently, which is making it tough to plan our honeymoon. We have not chosen a resort, as we would like to know which ones may offer the AP rate. We want to keep our costs down but would love to stay deluxe if the rate was good enough. We are also considering CSR and POFQ. I’d really love to have this set, but I guess it isn’t possible to book a resort until the AP rates for that time are released.

Does anyone have any idea which resorts may be excluded and the percentages that are usually offered per resort? Also, any tips on how to plan if I can’t book the resort yet? I’m anxious to get started!!

AP rates for your travel period were released on Jan. 3 this year, so I’d keep an eye out for them in the next few months. There really is no way of knowing what will be placed in the discount inventory. I would just suggest trying to book as soon as the discount is released for the biggest selection of rooms. I find it dwindles over time. I would personally book something you like and is in your budget now so you can at least book your length of stay ADRs at 180 days while you’re waiting for discounts.

Thank you! Do you need a reservation to book ADRs 6 months out even if you have an AP? The AP is new to me! Lol

A resort reservation allows you to book ADRs for 180+10 — meaning at 180 days from arrival plus length of stay (up to 10 days). Without a resort rrservation you can make ADRs 180 days out on a day-by-day basis.

Congrats and enjoy your honeymoon!

The AP rate can vary depending on the dates of your reservation. I have seen deluxe resorts have AP discounts ranging from 10% to 35%. Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge consistently seem to always get the highest discounts and Poly, Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge get the lowest discounts.
Moderate resorts have had discounts as high as 30% and as low as 10%. Coronado Springs and the Fort Wilderness cabins usually get the highest discounts while POFQ will usually get the lowest discount or be excluded from the discount.
The discount usually excludes the 3 bedroom villas, campsites, bungalows at Poly and cabins at Copper Creek.

This is helpful! Thank you! Do you happen to know if the new tower at CSR ha sheen included in AP rates at all?

I just checked some random dates in Feb. 2020 and there are a lot of CSR tower rooms available under the AP rate, so there is hope!
That would be wonderful! I’d love to stay deluxe but I just can’t justify the cost while also paying for a wedding and having just bought a new house
