Non-Disney Days & Evenings

We’re planning on two partial non-Disney days, and a few non-Disney evenings, We are staying in Cerritos (business). Are there botanical gardens near, what beach would be best to see? Any suggestions would be very appreciated

Not near, but the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena are very nice and worth the drive. Pasadena is a great town (home of the Rose Parade, if you've ever seen that on television) for spending the day, with lots of restaurants and shopping. The Gamble House is there, too, if you are a fan of Craftsman architecture -- check to see when tours are offered. For beaches, look at Huntington, Laguna, maybe even La Jolla (if you are willing to drive a bit further).

You are a 15 minute drive from Rancho Los Alamitos, which I thorouhgly loved. It is a homestead and the last remnant of an enormous land grant that forms so much of Southern California history. Guides are super knowledgeable. Utterly fascinating, and there are plantings there to investigate if you are into botanicals.
