I had a bariatric procedure in June. As a result I eat 6 small meals a day. I am still in the planning stage and am unsure of exactly how big the traveling party will be
It will be as few as 3 and as many as 6..my question is does everybody in the same hotel room have to get the same dining plan? Can I split a meal with someone on the dining plan and not use it myself?
I understand I cant as an adult order a child meal on dining plan with adult credits.
How much of food and what type are allowed to be brought into the parks?
Thanks.

Yes, everybody on the reservation must be on the (same) dining plan for the length of the reservation.

Yes, if another member of your party agreed to share their food with you, in most cases you will be fine.

An adult can typically offer from the child menu, but at table service will most likely be given a larger portion.

How much and what type(s) of food are you considering?

I eat high protein and low carb. I also need to eat a small amount every 2 to 3 hours while awake. I avoid high fat and high sugar foods.

In a buffet of pre-fixe meal situation, you will most likely be charged as an adult (money or credit)
if on the dining plan of not, most places where you order a meal (not buffet) will let an adult order a kid's meal, but it would be a poor use of an expensive adult credit. You could pay out of pocket for a kids meal or appetizer and that would leave more credits for another person in your party to use.

Hard coolers and loose ice are not allowed in the parks, but you could bring quite a bit in with you (no glass containers).

Ok. Thanks for that info. I am thinking that since I eat every few hours I could use the snack credits with no problem.

You will need to pay a credit at a buffet or an AYCTE restaurant. For the regular TS meals, you can pretty much do what works for you. If ordering a childs meal, I would pay OOP and save the TS credit for another meal if you have extra booked.

When it comes to snacks, I suggest looking at snack videos on Youtube. There are a lot to choose from in the parks and resorts, however so many are sweet, fried, or carbs that it pays to do a little research so you know where to find the ones that you can eat safely.

Thanks. I have been watching the dfb guide you tube videos

Also keep in mind that meal credits can be converted to 3 snack credits, so if snack things work better for your diet, you can do that instead of letting your meal credits go to waste because it’s too much food for one sitting

If your group is larger (two rooms) you may want to look into one room on the DDP and one not on the DDP. You can share the credits between the 2 rooms.

if you do this, make two separate reservations. There's a recent thread here from someone who made two reservations together (so, one res number) who then could not add a dining plan to just one room.

You might want to price compare OOP to DDP before deciding to go dining plan. I’m 5 1/2 years out from the sleeve and don’t find it worth the money for myself personally. Even when I traveled with my parents we found it was more cost effective to do OOP.

Also there are places that sell fruit in the park. Not sure if you can use snack credit on it though.

FYI: You cannot bring ice into Disney World any longer, as of earlier this year. Reusable ice packs only.

You can't bring ice at all?? I thought when this ice thing started, it was you could bring ice in something like a qt bag. But not a cooler filled with cans of soda with loose ice dumped on top.

The restriction is against loose ice in the cooler because security can’t search through it. Many people have used ice in baggies without a problem since the change. If concerned, a person can empty the baggie just prior to security and get ice again within the park to refill the baggie. An ice pack isn’t practical for most people because there is no way to freeze it In most rooms.

Thanks for such good information.

As a fellow bariatric patient, I will warn you that finding snacks which are high protein, low carb will be challenging. Not that it can't be done, but far and away the bulk of snacks are loaded with carbs... and fats... not much protein to be found for snacks except cheese and possibly a boiled egg which you may or may not be able to get down! :guilty:
