Hey Howdy Hey!

I have lost track now of how many trips reports I have done on the Dis. For those who don't know me I am Ryan. I am a college student, Disboards moderator, FAQ thread master (or expert 😉 ), football coach, runner, sports fan, and of course a Disney lover. I love to stay busy so I decided to do another trip report after debating whether or not too.

I have been traveling to Walt Disney World since I was 8 months old and have been 14 times total now if my math is correct. This trip was my second during this time of year for the 2019 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. I got into runDisney in 2015 with the Walt Disney World 10K and have been hooked ever since. The Walt Disney World Marathon in January will be my 25th runDisney race.

This trip I would be staying at Caribbean Beach which is a new to me resort and I was very excited as I would be of course be utilizing the Skyliner.

Enough babbling let's get too it!

Leaving at the right time!

I was leaving at the perfect time for me as it was snowing... on Halloween... Its been quite the early winter for us. Usually we don't get as much snow or cold as we have over the past few weeks.

IMG_6086.jpeg

This however led to about a 45 minute de-icing delay at the airport which would set me back a little bit.

No snow in Florida!

IMG_6091.jpg

Soon enough I was at Walt Disney World!

IMG_6095.jpeg

I arrived at Caribbean Beach and my room was ready but I didn't head to it. I was meeting friends for lunch. I had intended to go to the expo first but instead would go later due to me getting to Florida later than anticipated.

Lunch was at Sanaa! A favorite of mine these days. You can't pass up some bread service.

IMG_6103.jpg

I got the butter chicken.

IMG_6104.jpg

It was a great meal. After this it was time to venture to Animal Kingdom for some Fastpasses!

Fish are friends not food!

For those that don't know Animal Kingdom is my favorite park! I can never get enough of it.

IMG_6105.jpg

First up was Flight of Passage

IMG_6106.jpg

This ride never fails to be one of my favorite.

Then we were off to the Animation Experience.

IMG_6108.jpg

We would be drawing Bruce from Finding Nemo. This was a shorter experience but fun learning facts about drawing and the Finding Nemo film.

IMG_6109.jpg

Off to Kilimanjaro Safaris!

Joining in, I really enjoy reading your reports.

I love FoP, it always Amazes me, every ride

What a nice job drawing Bruce, I haven’t done this yet, hoping to in January.
Thanks! This one may be a little quicker than past reports of mine.

I really enjoyed the animation experience. My only wish was they had table instead of the clip boards but it works out.

Trying new things

Finished up AK with a ride on Everest

rsz_img_6243.jpg

Then it was off to the expo!

IMG_6138.jpg

It was the 10th anniversary of the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

IMG_6141.jpg

I got my bib, shirts and some merch. I got a couple pins, the shoe ornament and a pullover. The race shirts weren't champion branded anymore which was disappointed because these were a bit rougher compared to the champion ones.

I also checked out the Marathon Weekend medals. I like the marathon one the best I think.

IMG_6144.jpg

Then I was off to Gran Destino to meet up with friends.

IMG_6145.jpg

I tried some shrimp and some other items. For those who don't know me I am not a very adventurous eater so this was a step towards that for me.

IMG_6146.jpg

IMG_6147.jpg

I have had these savory churros though and I really like them.

IMG_6148.jpg

Then we went to Cali Grill where I don't quite remember what we got.

We had a great view of the fireworks though!

Can't wait to read more of your adventure! Nice way to get out of the snow for a few days... it looks like it is going to be a long winter! ❄🌨☃

Hi Ryan,

I love your race outfit. :) You have run an impressive number of runDisney races. Do you train outside for them? Running outside in the winter can be tricky.

How did you like CBR? It has never appealed to me but the addition of the Skyliner makes it very appealing. I really hope Disney decides to build more Skyliners.

Yes I am not a big fan of treadmills so I go outside as much as I possibly can. If it’s icy I won’t go outside but if it’s just cold weather I’ll make do and go out.

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed CBR. I wish I would’ve hung out the resort more. My room was as close to the Skyliner as you could get.

Fall Feast 5K!

I went with Chef Mickey for the Fall Feast 5K

IMG_6161.jpg

I met up with some friends/Disers before hand. I would end up running this one solo though. I was in corral A. Disney only does 3 corrals now for the 5K. We had a long walk out to the corrals too which was also new.

The first character stop was really long but once I saw who it was I had to stop.

My Country Bears!

That was probably an 8-10 minute wait.

I kept moving then.

I stopped for Dopey in Germany. I'll be seeing him again in January.

Never too early for a finish line beer!

The snack boxes changed to some weird healthy mix of things and its terrible. Only thing I took out was the apple sauce. They even got rid of the wet towelettes.

The finishers chute was also crazy long. I mean I get that they needed the changes due to construction but it was just so long. They also had everything so far away from each other. So bag check was way away from the beer tent and stage and what not.

I also really miss this being in Animal Kingdom. That was the superior 5K. I still had fun but if/when I do Wine and Dine again I probably will skip the 5K.

Between the long walks and the long waits for the characters, it must have made the 5K race a much longer event than normal. I like the medal, though.

When do they announce the race course? Did you know that it wouldn't be run at AK when you signed up for it?

Yeah it always does. This 5K was about 50 minutes for me. Normally I can do a 5K in 30 minutes.

This time they didn’t announce the course until after registration so that was the big downside.
