Rise of The Resistance Opening?

Doesn’t the ride open on the 5th? Or did they change it?

Not sure when or if ur next trip is but dang, to be so close and not get to experience it will be a bummer for sure. Hopefully they have the EEMH for ya and u can maybe rope drop that and sneak it in before ya go.

We really need them to drop an EMH for DHS in order to get through RotR and Slinky Dog. I don't see how we can do everything at RD without it. Surely they will drop this info soon. We arrive on Dec 9

I still say they will most likely skip EMH and go back to the Boarding Groups from the opening of Galaxy's edge.

Which means they will only allow a certain number of people into GE at a time and control the crowds that way. It seemed to work well for the launch.

I think they should have some EMHs - otherwise there isn't a benefit (as far as getting on the attraction) of staying on property since there won't be FP+ for it

I don't think they need 3 hours every day - but maybe 1 hour ever day or at least most days. Maybe do 4 days a week an hour EMH and the other days the Paid extra magic hours or something

I believe with a ride opening they are far more concerned with crowd control than they are perceived benefits for staying on property. Which, honestly, are becoming less and less anyway.

I'm an AP holder and I can't tell you the last time I have stayed on property....Roughly 3 years ago or something like that. The benefit just isn't there anymore IMO.

I don't think GE has the space required, legally required if we are thinking about Fire Regulations and such, to hold all the people that will descend upon it at one time. This is why they will have to utilize Boarding Groups. Like a I said earlier, anyone who witnessed the opening of FoP knows how bad it can be if there isn't some form of crowd control.

I'm there that entire week. I plan to hit it the day after opening on that Friday....We will see how it goes.

oh, I definitely think they will use the boarding groups to control the crowd size into the land - I would think some EMHs on top of that though

and I am someone who very rarely stays on property but if I did and there was no perceived advantage to getting onto the latest/greatest ride I'd be pretty annoyed

but I guess we shall see ... and the longer we go without updated hours the more it looks like I might be wrong :D

Honestly I’m pretty surprised Disney’s thought process seems to be crowds are going to rush a halfway opened land so much so that we need a never before done 5 combined extra hours every day at 3 of our parks, but it’ll be fine when the super hyped up mega headline ride is opened at busier time of year to boot. EMH once a week should do the trick.

Not to mention they supposedly know people are holding off visits until ROTR opens. 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's Christmas, it's gonna be busy anyway so let's make it so busy it's unbearable :jester:

That's only the week of really. My experience has been the first few weeks of December are usually pretty slow. It ramps up more and more as you get closer to Christmas.

I've heard that the week before Christmas week is dead but I've not tried it myself.

That's why we booked Dec 4-18th, but every resort hotel is pretty much booked, as are the ones at Universal. I think the usual moderate crowds period will become busy this year.

All of the All Stars are booked because of the Cheerleading and Pop Warner Football stuff going on during the first week. However, those people won't be in the park all day every day so you may not even notice them.

Well that's good to hear.

We were advised to go either first 2 weeks of December or the first 2 weeks of February for lower crowds. We chose December purely so we could also get some extra Christmas cheer and atmosphere. Fingers crossed it's won't be crazy busy everywhere.

"Never before done" isn't really true in a practical sense. They may never have before CALLED it that, but I'm old enough to remember a time when the Disney parks routinely extended closing times based on daily attendance. If the park was crowded and the lines got long, hours were extended on the fly, especially at MK. At the time, if crowds were high, you could pretty much count on the real closing time being about 3 hours later than the posted closing time; MK usually closed at 1 am during the busiest times.

Could bookings and ticket sales be at a level right now for Disney to not economically justify extra hours at this point? Doesn’t mean it won’t be crowded, but maybe after disappointing crowds for the GE openings they are going to be super cautious before staffing for super huge crowds.

Hey, that wasn’t that long ago, I remember it fondly too! As recent 10-15 years ago I remember 12-3AM EMH at MK. I guess I just wasn’t equating it with the daily extreme early openings that came with SWGE opening. My bad.

All of December is still very busy compared to previous years. The week before Christmas is very busy as well.

We always fly into Florida on the Thursday before the week of xmas. Sometimes we are able to make it to the parks on Thursday and almost always on that Friday and I can tell you first hand it is extremely busy. Now it's not xmas day busy but it's still jam packed busy.

I think they may also be waiting to see what the weather will be before deciding on EMH times. Cold weather puts a big damper on crowds, unless it is a holiday week. If the forecast is 3 degree celcius at 7 am, the chances of a 2 hr EMH at HS will drop significantly.

I'll be back! Originally this trip was supposed to be all week, then it was cancelled, then it was modified so I'd come home halfway through the week. I went back & forth on what day to come home but between wanting to not use ALL of my PTO & looking at the cheapest flights ($15 on Frontier), the first flight out on the 5th was the best. Now I'm torn between HEA Wednesday night (my original justification for staying through Wednesday) and loitering in SW:GE hoping for a soft opening, haha.

I always try to go in early December. Especially on weekdays, the crowds will be low. Weekends they still get fairly busy (not like spring break busy, but not 15 minute waits either). I'd say they're consistently low whereas February & January are a little more hit & miss these days. Plus, December at Disney is just wonderful. The Christmas spirit at Disney really makes me FEEL like it's Christmastime. One of my favorite things to do is a monorail trip over to GF, get some mulled wine, and sit & listen to the orchestra playing Christmas music. I'm not a fan of eating the gingerbread but going around to see the houses is super fun too.
