Drinking topic on Podcasts

Can anyone help with a quick query please. We will be in Orlando this December for 2 weeks (from the UK), we are aged 51 & 44. I know that valid photo ID is required to buy alcohol but we don't have driving licenses and really don't want to carry our passports around all day. Is that the only option or do people even ask for ID if we're this old?
There are places that will card you no matter how old you look. I know the AMC24 theaters in Disney Springs has a policy that they card everybody who buys alcohol.

It would be nice if Disney moved the requirement for "ID" to your magic band. Possibly if you opted in you could show your ID at the front desk, scan your finger print, and then it would be linked.

Surge pricing would fix this problem. As demand for drinks go up, the price goes up. This would be easy to implement. And if you tied it to the magic bands and increased the credit card holds, you could easily cut the drinking in the park or make Disney a lot of money.

In 97 when I sold cigs at Seven Dwarfs Store in Fantasyland I always carded. I thought that was Disney policy. People would act surprised but I figured better safe than sorry because there are consequences for selling to minors.

How would they prevent people from swapping Magic Bands?

Just as one counter point, my wife has gotten carded at Disney once or twice over the years. She is currently 39 but looks pretty young for her age - and even with that it was literally like once or twice.

So I think unless you look rather young for your age that people would question if you were 21 then you should be fine

I think he was suggesting it be like park entry with band and biometric scan, but we all know how dependable that is.

I mean they could take it a step further and put in a picture as well. That way if your finger doesn't scan the bartender/cashier would see your picture on the device in front of them.

And if someone doesn’t have a magicband? Not everyone does.
That would just be an option. If you don't have a MB, you would just show your license like you do now. Like I said, I always have my wallet with me. I'd never go out without it.

Not sure if this is applies to every state, but our FL Walgreen's swipes your driver license if you purchase alcohol. No exceptions.

Definitely not every state. In NY we always have to show ID in the grocery store and the cashier has to enter the date / year of birth.

I should have qualified it by saying every state that allows alcohol sales (wine/beer) in a pharmacy. Although Walgreen's has attached, but separate entrance liquor stores to their pharmacies. I am not sure about the privacy protection by swiping my DL, but it certainly is an audit trail if something goes awry.

Ah ok, I have never bought alcohol at a pharmacy so not sure here

I guess that would be nice but showing my license certainly isn't difficult. I never walk around without my wallet. Same for my wife and daughter even if I'm the one driving.

Don't personally carry my wallet when at the parks. Just use magic band to charge everything to the room.

Then you would have your wallet and can show your ID. The point is to allow those staying onsite to not have to carry anything in to the parks.

So carrying this forward to WDW....what if they decided to swipe your I.D. for a/each purchase? Would that help mitigate the risk of incorrect/over serving? Could WDW limit the number of drinks served per I.D. swipe? I'm asking generically, not necessarily you.
