Carsland is amazing.
Agree. When you see it you'll think, "this is where they shot the movie" only to realize that the movie was all computer generated. The big reveal as you enter from the Paradise Pier area under the arch is perfect. And to walk down the main "street" at dusk as the lights come on and the music plays is such a wonderful experience.

Disney plus has 23 categories on their main page. Originals, trending, out of the vault etc.
they need one for 20th century fox movies, and other ones that they own that are on Disney plus. At least have it in the search.

I wonder what if any effect Disney+ will have on the parks. If for instance something like the Simpsons is getting huge streaming numbers does Disney start integrating them into the parks.

No.

Why in the heck are the Simpson so popular? The episodes haven't been good since the early 90s.

Now if Disney were to acquire Bob's Burgers... :scratchin

Universal has the theme park rights to The Simpsons don’t they? There’s an entire land at USO.

The Simpsons were just an example could be anything. Just saying that Disney will now have a ton of data just wondering how they might use that data in regards to the parks.

I highly doubt it because Universal has the Simpsons.

However, I'm sure Disney thinks about things. It's one thing for Universal to integrate things like Stranger Things into their HHN it's another thing to invest in something more permanent. I could see maybe fairly temporary things on a more special event level for Disney if say a show has viewership. Still would probably have to be on a fairly significant scale for Disney invest in something for the parks.

I was actually discussing this on another thread. I honestly think Disney masterminded everything to relate to each other.

If you are watching The Mandalorian right now, it absolutely has the same design/aesthetic as Galaxy's Edge. Even the market place.
As soon as I started watching it got me more excited to visit GE and I suspect many more are having that same feeling! :)

I think you make a very valid point. I never really thought about it until u mentioned it but u are correct, Disney will now have a tremendous amount of data on what consumers like. Not sure how this will translate into the parks but u can bet ur a$$ they will use it in every way possible to make money.

I agree but I think the Mandalorian is a different case especially because it was already in the works long before SWGE opened up with a deeply entrenched/proven longevity theme of Star Wars.

I'm thinking of something they don't have a tie with already or something they just acquired. Like the Imagineering show seems to be quite well received..but woud that translate into something permanent inside the parks? Especially with One Man's Dream virtually non-existent now. I think it would be cool to have something but I'm thinking more temporary.

But I think there's some things you can take from Disney+ and add to the parks just probably few that are on a permanent scale just because of the investment into something based off of a streaming service. It would be pretty easy for Universal for example to swap Stranger Things out in HHN for the new it thing if/when it stops being what people want to watch/care for. Would be a lot harder if it was a more permanent thing. But to the PP's point it was that Stranger Things was so heavily watched that made Universal even think about including it in their HHN line up.

Watching the Swiss Family Robinson now - how many of you are showing it to your kids so that they’ll have a better appreciation of the Treehouse in MK?

At D23 Expo the Archivists had a special presentation - they actually found the shooting locations, including the tree itself.

I know it's kind of a weird pairing to see The Simpsons on Disney+ but I'm glad to be able to have easy access to them, specifically seasons 2 - 5 which are my favorites that I still vividly remember watching at the time of their airing.

I'm also glad that things like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Swiss Family Robinson and 20,000 Leagues are on here... my kids have already seen all of those previously, some of them multiple times, but hoping this exposes these classics to a young generation. Plus maybe a few more kids will get the references my own kids make, lol.

Yes, I feel that while Iger only built one new park he did have to "fix" (or is still in the process of fixing) several that weren't complete to begin with or that hadn't seen updates in a long time (obviously mixed reaction as to all of these "fixes")

Personally I still didn't really like DCA when we visited but certainly is better than the original park
I agree, a lot of cleanup still being done. Marvel will make DCA even more of a draw. I low how the "fix" for DCA cost almost double the initial build price. When totaled it was half of what WestCOT would have cost.

I also loved how Eisner defended the failed park launch and responded with something like "no one ever complained that the Disney Company was in financial stress since 1983" in episode 4 🤣

And also when he said "having a budget forces the inagineers to be more creative" - which, I get to a certain extent, it can force some extra creative thinking .... but California Adventure didn't have the budget it di because they wanted to spark creativity

I liked the ambitious and interested in creativity Eisner of the previous episode, who worked with Frank Wells. Then I saw this episode and was reminded of this post-partner-death, post-heart surgery version of himself who comes across as skeezy. It's a shame. I'm guessing Wells' death had a large ripple effect. Some of his comments in this episode were just dumb.
