Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Hi all. First WL stay, though this will be our 9th deluxe resort stay in about 7 years. We are going for the first time during the holidays, which we are a bit nervous about, since we normally go during comparatively "slower" times. Here's my question: we have a 5 day stay (12/26-12/31) and we only have 2-day park hoppers. We know the parks will be busy so we have other plans around the resorts and off property. How crowded should I expect Geysery Point lounge and Territory Lounge/ breakfast spot at WL to be? If we plan to enjoy the resort and spend time at these lounges, will it be impossible to do so that week? Does the lounge require reservations? A large part of our plans invovles hanging out at the new bar/lounge and eating and relaxing there. I know it's a busy week, just wondering if tables are going to be super scarce or if reservations are normally needed there? Any strategies for getting a table there?
I think Geyser Point is a Quick Service? I'm not familiar with getting reservations there. We've always just been at times where tables were ready. I'm pretty sure lounges don't require reservations either, it's a first come first served if I'm not mistaken. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here! Also, I'm not sure if those do breakfasts' either. Roaring Forks is the QS at WL and I know they have breakfast with seating inside and outside on the patio.

Reservations are not offered for Geyser Point and don't believe they offer breakfast. There is not a breakfast menu on the WDW website for either location. Your only options for breakfast would be Whispering Canyon, Roaring Fork, or room service.

The resort itself will be busy with visitors stopping by to see the Christmas decorations and have their pictures taken in front of the big Christmas tree. There will also be plenty of people at Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner since it seems to be a popular place to eat, especially during the Christmas season. The Territory Lounge and Geyser Point should be fine. They don't take reservations. Territory Lounge opens in late afternoon and offers small plates, appetizers and some other items. Geyser Point Bar and Grill is open for lunch and breakfast and serves a more complete menu. There is also a quick service counter at Geyser Point that serves lunch and dinner. It isn't open for breakfast.

Roaring Forks is the counter service restaurant inside on the resort that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is usually only busy during the breakfast rush when people are trying to get breakfast before the park opens. But it isn't very busy at all for lunch and dinner.

The only restaurants that take reservations are Whispering Canyon Cafe and Artist Point.

You can also take the resort boat to Fort Wilderness or the Contemporary Resort. Both resorts have some good dining options and the boat itself is a nice, relaxing trip.

You picked a perfect resort for a Christmas time visit. :)

i hope it’s like soon, like in the next seven days. The studio we had in the summer was tres shabby.
That's what I'm worried about too, although if you were in a studio, I'm guessing you stayed in Boulder Ridge (since Copper Creek is new). I was talking about the Wilderness Lodge original, non DVC rooms. The room we booked is $1000. a night and I don't want to pay that if it's not in good condition.

On the club level thread , I thought I saw they were starting with the 7 th floor in January and working their way down. There are several rooms on the 1 st floor by elevators that they have already remodeled as test rooms

Thanks for this. I hope it's true. This refurb is feeling a lot like what happened with Yacht Club's last refurb. We stayed there at least three times expecting new fresh rooms, only to check in to a room that was worn out, and in one case very moldy. We spend a lot of time at the resort so room condition really does matter to us.

yes it was BR. We’re staying at CC in April.

The BR studio we stayed in was in poor condition This past July. The pull out couch was uninhabitable! 😀

when I’d finally complained , the night before we left, I must say that the staff was very empathetic and tried to help.

Never fear. CCV will be shabby in a year or two.

Looking at staying here for the first time at the beginning of February . Just a standard bunk room. Im guessing if renovations are just starting in January the club level then they won't have any bunk rooms done. We really like the food options and boat to Magic Kingdom but Im not sure it will be worth it to pay for a room that is just about to be renovated.

They haven't announced a start date for the room refurbishments. The resort rooms do need to be refurbished but the resort is still a wonderful place to stay. :)

We don’t care much about our view but would love to be in the lobby. From what I can tell these rooms are nature view rooms which were not available when we booked, only standard was an option. Are there any rooms that we can request that would be standard view from the lobby or is that basically requesting an upgrade for free? Which isn’t cool and not our goal.

You care right that the rooms overlooking the lobby are nature view rooms with a few courtyard view rooms at the end of the lobby. You can always request that your standard view room was above the lobby, but it would be a free upgrade if they gave it to you. But it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

So we’re booked in a “nature view” at DWL in March. Is that a view of trees or is that Disney speak for parking lot view?

It means that you have a view of nature, which would include trees, water, and other foliage for the most part. The parking lot is at the front of the resort and none of the resort rooms have a direct view of the parking lot.

Hello,
We will be checking into a Boulder Ridge Deluxe studio in 16 days! I checked in on-line already and made my room requests of being on a high floor. However, looking at my reservation I can’t tell if I paid for a view or not. Is this something I can call and request? I do realize these are only requests!
What view options are there at Boulder Ridge?
Thanks!
