Canadian Resident Offer is available!

This past March we stayed at Beach Club as part of a package that included the Canadian resident tickets. When I checked in at the front desk to pick up our magic bands, they asked to see our passports so they could activate our magic bands right then and there. Easy peasy. We were able to go right into the theme parks without needing to stop at a guest services window.

That’s good to hear. We are staying at beach club in January. We rented a DVC villa and bought the Canadian discount tickets so hopefully they can activate them right then and there like you!!

But I would need to pay full price up front for the tickets, that’s my concern
Ok, let's see if we can help you figure out what the problem is. Give me a few more details and I'll try to help.
When do you want to go?
How many people .. adults, children?
Which resort are you looking at?

When i picked a week mid-Jan I'm able to put together a package with a discounted room, Canadian tickets AND a gift card because of the current special promo.

Hello I’m think of October 2020
4 people 2 kids 12 and 10
And 2 adults

thanks again
Ok, it seems the dates you're looking at are what's causing the problem -- there is no promo that encompasses them so while you can put together a package it's not going to be including the CDN discounted tickets.

But I thought the tickets can used used till the end of December 2020?
Yes they can, but the problem is getting Disney's glitchy system to let you put it together the way you are wanting .. not possible. You would need to book the room separately and buy the tickets on their own to get the discounted ones. No other way to do this, sorry.

So happy to be able to book with a room discount and canadian tickets, it saves a lot! :worship:
And I also noticed that the canadian WDW site offers discounts on practically ALL resorts, including ASMO, POFQ and the Little Mermaid rooms! These are not discounted on the US website :rolleyes1

Similar scenario. We have a room booked for August and plan on purchasing Canadian tickets by Feb. Think we could then only apply a room only discount if one came up?

Yes, this is both possible and a great idea! Getting the tickets while they're still selling the discounted ones will save you money. If you've made the reservation yourself you can go into your account and change it around as much as you want, including adding a discount. I've changed our upcoming reservation more times than i can count .. most recently even changed resorts and jumped on the discount and only had to pay the difference because we're going from a value to moderate. The reservation number is still the same one, just changed the details!

It's super easy to do yourself online!

In case anyone has insight with these early DHS hours, a Canadian is on the main Theme Parks board wondering if Guest Services will be open in time to validate their tickets so they can join a RotR boarding group.

Do you need to show passport for child to pick up ticket? Or do they just ask for the Adults?
I would like to hear others' experiences on this question, too, whether at a park, Disney Springs, or a hotel.

That would be awesome. Did anyone else get to do this when they checked in?

I currently have a room only resort reservation. Is there any way to purchase the Canadian Resident tickets and link them to MDE without converting to a package? If I try to purchase them through MDE I believe it will automatically convert my RO reservation to a package, which I do not want to do at this time. Is that correct?

I checked Expedia, but they only seem to offer the Flexible Date option for Canadian Residents. I am looking for the Canadian Resident 6-day Park Hopper tickets.

Any other options? Please help! 😃
Deposit for a Package is $200 USD and you need to pay your reservation in full 30 days before check in. You will be charge a cancellation fee if you cancel after that mark as well.

Deposit for a Room only reservation is the cost of one night's stay and you pay the rest when you check in. You can also cancel up to 5 days before with no penalty.

In my mind it's much more cost effective to book room only --- you are still only paying a deposit and unless you're staying in a deluxe resort it's not a huge amount, but that's just me. enjoy your trip

We originally had a room only reservation + Cdn discount tickets. We ended up converting to a package when the room discount dropped for the 10% in Jan plus the gift card. The call centre was able to refund my Cdn tix and re-purchase as part of the package, maintaining the discount. We lost a bit in the exchange rate by doing so, but overall came out ahead by about $150 USD (I have a post somewhere detailing the math if you go look at my profile). So the answer is yes, you can have canadian tickets as part of a package. For us we were going to pay the full amount of the room anyway in advance so there was no difference between package/room only.

Thanks @TigerlilyAJ ! That's me asking :) I know the process as I've done it before, but just not sure how early we'd be able to do it given how early everyone else is arriving at DHS these days.

Regarding the question someone had above about showing a child's passport - yes, you need to show identification for all tickets. We did this before in Mar/18 and had no issues at AK, it took about 20 minutes total. I have heard that the child doesn't have to be present, but we were at the park anyway so all went as a family unit.

I just wanted to update that I have been able to modify my tickets bought on UndercoverTourist to park hoppers, applying the Canadian discount, without an issue! The tickets were exactly the same price so I didn't pay a cent more to get the hoppers!!! :)
The Castmember I spoke with was very nice, he was able to transfer the base tickets to PH directly in MyDisneyExperience account!
I called the ticket center at 407-566-4985, spent about 10 minutes on the phone and this made me save 170 US$! Talk about a little Christmas Magic!

I just wanted to confirm that the Canadian discount tickets can definitely be added to a package that includes hotel so that you only need to make a $200 deposit for the package. Then if a room only deal comes out for your planned October stay you can also call to have that added to your package as well - essentially getting the benefit of the Canadian ticket discount and any potential room discount applied to your package as well. If the website is not letting you do it online you can definitely call Disney directly for them to do it or ask a travel agent. I quite like the package route.

I used a travel agent. Originally had booked a hotel and ticket package at rack rate for August 2020 in August 2019. When the Canadian ticket rate came out Sept 2019 I just emailed my travel agent to update to those tickets and no problem. Then when the hotel room discounts came out for summer (Fun and Sun), I emailed her to apply that as well. But she had already done it! This brought down the price again. With both discounts applied to my package we saved almost $1000 US!

Im also hoping that because it’s a package as well we will only need to present passports at hotel to verify residency and not need to go to guest services.

This is what we did....got the resort discount (Fun and Sun) and Canadian Tickets as part of a Disney package. We book through Disney directly.

You are thinking that we wouldn't have to go to Guest Services to activate???

I read some reports that they were able to show passports at the hotel when checking in and the hotel was able to activate magic bands and then they were good to go to the parks! The reports seem to be from those who had booked packages. Maybe I should start a new thread asking for recent experiences with this ...

That would be great if the hotel can activate the Canadian tickets if part of a package. It would save time. Will definitely ask at check in.

Disney mailed physical tickets to me. I ordered by phone and had an on-site room reservation. I loaded them on to MDE and had no problem booking FPs. The letter that came with the tickets clearly states that only the adults need to prove their residency. Once at the parks, we went to Guest Services, where the adults (age 18+) had to show IDs, but not the children. Our provincial driver's licenses worked fine.
