Venting time, sorry. So took dh to ER with a nasty kidney stone (has been having them for 37 years) this one turns out to be twice the size they normally are. He has a scan sees a PA and then is suppose to see the urologist later in the day to see if they can do a procedure yesterday and what the best options are. Sits in the ER from 6:30 till 2:30, finally gets a room, and now at 8 am the next day, still has NOT seen a DR. No procedure, no plan, no clue what is going on. Unreal!!! and he was in the worst pain he's ever been all last night, they could not manage it. How do you admit someone and then just ignore them with no updates or anything?!?!?!?!?!
Meanwhile I am using my churning points, trying to find the best time for an emergency trip to visit my dad in the next few weeks, as I found out that he has a few months to live at best. Cancer came out of nowhere apparently. Thanks goodness for points at least, cash to fly us all there plus this hospital bill would have killed me.

So sorry to hear about your dad. And I’ve had similar experiences with a loved one in pain and there’s nothing NOTHING more frustrating. Hoping he can get some relief SOON!

Seriously banks suck. (No offense @SouthFayetteFan ) Communication is so bad. IT is so bad. Doing a bank bonus at First Midwest (read: crappy tiny local bank). They locked my account after DHs paycheck was direct deposited into the account. So they had all my money and didn’t bother to tell me they locked it or why. I call to tell them my debit card won’t work and they tell me they never got the copy of my DL, sent snail mail. Then they tell me I can take my DL to local branch (a mile away and next to the Aldi I shop at every week) and they will unlock my account. Why couldn’t they tell me I could take the info to the local branch in the first place instead of snail mail.

I’m usually in the same boat. My big fat check is usually $5-10 but I hit it hard this month and did all my Christmas shopping online. I’m currently at $145 for my Big Fat Check!

My nieces initials are OMG and EEG. Poor nephew is KAG with 31 total letters in his name including both X and Z.

Our Chicago Tribune delivery person does the same. We only get Sunday and half the time it’s wet or missing so No.

But my Instant Pot has slow cook and pressure settings. So you just always use pressure?

So you can use any of the functions. I don’t tend to use recipes that are ‘a can of this and can of that’ so I look on Pinterest a lot. My sister just Googles. Lol. Like “instant pot chicken”. One site I like for a number of things is Pinchofyum.com

Have you used the slow cook setting? I tried once but my roast did not come out as good as it typically does in the crockpot. I haven't tried again since for now we have crockpot and instapot but if I could just have one appliance that would be amazing. I would like a second inner pot for the instapot though

Amex offers.... I just don't get it. I had the Lowes offer on 3 different cards (all separate accts) - so I used the offer on card 1....nothing.Just the charge on the acct,it's been a few days. I looked on the card, but it is nowhere to be found on offers,and since it does that weird thing where if you use it it also disappears from the page, I was hoping I would see the $10 back... On the other 2 cards where I had it, I only see it on one now. I know I clicked to save the offer.... bleh. I won't bother asking them about this,but anyone else not seeing the promised credits happen? It's kind of hard to keep track when it disappears anyway...

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You will appreciate the time you spend with him so much; plan for as many days as you can squeeze out of your calendar.

Hope they can get your dh's pain managed and the procedure done. I can't believe they have left him in so much pain for a day. That really stinks.

I'll be honest...I love my slow cookers (yes, I have more than one) and I use them often. Because I'm home typically earlier in the day doing school, I prep the meal and then put it in the crock pot so we have dinner even on crazy evenings. I got an IP two years ago and I've just not fallen in love with it. I want to though. Is there a website you recommend or something that is helpful? I want it to be as easy as my crock pot but it seems anything but to me. The few times I have used it, it just seems like a lot of work and I know I'm missing something.

Oh boy..... slow cooker vs IP? I could go on all day... I use my slow cooker to transport food now basically..... I consider my IP one of my prime kitchen tools and use it at least every other day! There are instagroups as well as many on FB to get you excited with recipes etc. To me it's like a fast slow cooker....(I know, makes no sense lol) But when I was making my Olive Garden copy Zuppa Toscana one weekend,I did a batch on stove,and a batch in the IP. The difference was HUGE.... all the ingredients seems to 'melt' together better with that bit of quick pressure,and now I don;t have to start dinner at 8 am anymore! I like how quickly it cooks things too. I've had a few fails, but mostly wins. Now the slow cooker is rarely used,as my lazy nature works better with the IP,and last minute dinner thoughts. (example, I can set a full pot roast dinner with potatoes etc in the IP at 3:30 and it'll be perfect and ready to eat before 5:30) Don't even get me started on the bone broth and chicken possibilities

Yes! This! I was just looking at my account yesterday as I did both the Best Buy deal and Lowes. Nothing. Charges are there, but no credits. Still have almost 60 pages to catch up from Thanksgiving. But would like to confirm once I pay my SW Dec bill I can start charging on it again. I have $1k to meet spend but I'm nervous if I use it before 1/1 I will make the spend too early and nervous if I wait until after 1/1 they won't post in time. My 1st charge was 10/18 but the AF didn't post until 11/1. My due date was 12/8, not sure what the statement closing date was. Appreciate any reassurances

I think it's not uncommon for it to slow a bit as the baby gets bigger but I could be remembering wrong. The HB thing for gender is more wive's tale than scientific but it's fun to speculate. Our dd19 always was around 140 and was a girl and our ds8 was always way high but was a boy.

My mom thought I was a boy based on HB. She only picked out a boy's name - Stephen Michael - and only had a boy's going home outfit. She had to pick a girl's name on the fly and my grandma run out and buy some pink clothes.

My first DS..... We were told with THREE ultrasounds he was a girl......NOT!!!! We had a closetful of girl clothes,and cute name picked out...and in those days they made pink or blue diapers..... When he was born we were SHOCKED. (Never disappointed,just shocked) And... he wore cute pink jammies for the first week at home,until we went to the consignment shop with a HUGE pile of baby girl clothes to consign and bought him a manly baby wardrobe! (I still have the tiny pink jammies he wore then)
With 2nd DS, we didn't ask ahead for obvious reasons lol. It all worked out but I never got to use my 'girls' name I had chosen lol.
Oh yeah.... we had to pick our boys name out on the fly! ( still not sure it suits him but whatevs lol)

PSA on Chase minimum balances: even if you have a merchant credit that covers all your statement balance so autopay says nothing is owed you owe the "minimum balance". If you fail to pay the minimum balance 3 months in a row they will shutdown your account. (I'm safe! Not trying to trigger anyone here )

I haven't had much spending on my CSR lately, but I did use it as the cc on file for Disney in Sept + Nov (charged and refunded when I paid with gift cards), and a United flight I cancelled within 24 hours in Oct. With light spending on my CSR right now the result was the merchant credit on my account was greater than the statement balance the autopay was set to pay on my due date in Oct and Nov. This triggered a Chase letter one day after the 2nd month's due date that they will close my account if I don't make my next minimum payment. They explain merchant credits have prevented autopayments from being made on the account but I must always pay the minimum balance anyway. So- if merchant credits hit your account and exceed your statement balance manually schedule a payment of at least your minimum balance.

I've been traveling to Disney and then to holilday with the family so I just got this letter today- my payment is due tomorrow. I can't believe I came so close to having my CSR shutdown by Chase for something so stupid.

would this mean you then would have a credit to use on that card?

Same here, I used it once maybe twice so I clearly did not give it a fair chance. It's back in the box in the closet.

Yes, I agree and I knew that. But in 20 years of having BWV this is the first year I've had to do this day by day stuff. I've forgotten to book, got up late, etc etc and haven't had a problem with November dates.

I also have an October use year. That means my first date for walking is October 1 unless I'm using points that I can bank in at the moment of the booking. And since my 2020 use year for BWV now has only 7 points, that won't be happening. (I've still got HH, VB, and BCV). But, I've already put a note on my phone calendar for next year and hopefully it will be easier. What will annoy me is when I start seeing all the for rent ads for these nights, but, that's the right of the owner to work their points as they see fit. And, if I'd wanted boardwalk view or garden view it would have been one and done. But an extra 29 points is quite a bit when I actually prefer the back end of the resort near the tennis courts.

Have actually decided to bank my points for BCV next year and maybe do a week there. Bank 2020 into 2021 and borrow 2022 into 2021 gives me 90 points.
