I read that they did a "slight design change" after the backlash in July and released another trailer a few days ago, but the changes are not extremely apparent to me.
Both my boys said the same thing. I think we will pass.Yes! We saw a commercial for the movie, and something about the costumes was "disturbing" (to use my daughter's word).
To be fair Musicals are always big. I am patiently waiting for Hamilton to come out the play is amazing. Also CATS was at one point one of the longest running musicals on broadway. Had a fairly long run in revival on Broadway and national tours. It's fairly successful in its own right. Having seen it on broadway I can attest it's great. Now movie execution not so sure. I'm not a taylor swift fan so she doesn't appeal to me. I am a Cats fan only reason why I'm going.Whoever in Hollywood who decides making this movie would be a good idea is not very smart. It’s not going to be a break out hit like The Greatest Showman was.
Saw the live version on the Oasis and walked out after 15 minutes. Felt bad, but cruise time is valuable. Sad thing is I had read the reviews that actually the live show on the oasis and the cast and crew are amazing. For me it was just the story.
The completely human nose and mouth just looks wrong. At least the theater makeup attempted to make them look like cat noses.
It's not even that. The lyrics are straight from T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats", set to music. They apparently tried to use them in somewhat of a storyline, but it's tenuous, at best.Cats has no story. It's just a revue. The "plot" is threadbare to non-existent.
I knew there’d be at least one person here who liked it... there always is...I saw it with DD11 and some of her friends and another mom. DD11 and I were the only ones that liked it. We’re actually going back to see it again Friday with another one of her friends who hasn’t seen it yet but loves the musical. I thought it was different, but entertaining and whimsical.
