Advice Please: Problem with online reservation timing

Hello. I’m having a problem with a 11/2020 reservation. I’m a long term owner so I know the process of 7 nights at 11 months out but I keep on getting a message that I am out of my booking window when I try to reserve right at 8 am. I’m not fussy about the days I need but this has happened about 5 times now. When I go back in after refreshing the room (I’m trying for a BWV standard studio) is gone. I thought my clock might b wrong on my phone but that isn’t the case. Any advice? I’ve never had this issue before. Thanks. Kayla

The same thing happened to me. Kept getting the outside my booking window error. After multiple 5am PST morning I finally got the room. Everything was exactly the same, when I did the search for availability and when I clicked on the button to book.

The problem is that their idiot computer system is kicking out the wrong error message. What happened all those earlier morning is that someone else snapped up the room ahead of me. The message should have been that the room was no longer available.

Have to say it frustrated me for the longest time thinking I was doing something wrong because I have never had that much problem booking a room at 11 months before.

I got the same message this morning and I agree , it wasn’t because I was early, but because it was gone when I hit book!

I search all the time at 7:55 AM and then sit on the page with the Booking button (to reserve the room). I click that button right at 8:00 AM. I don’t need to refresh the availability checking (actually on the backend the website does a recheck on availability every single time you click to reserve a room, along with many other checks, point eligibility, booking window, etc.). I just did this this morning perfectly fine.

The issue is DVC is throwing the wrong error message. It’s throwing a trying to book too early message when the flag thrown is that the room isn’t available. So it’s just an instance of a mistake in their code.
I think the reason that error shows is that when you attempt to make a reservation and not all of the dates are available, it will default to selecting the longest available time period within your search and offer you that reservation. When you do that at 11 months and the first date is no longer available it then defaults to still trying to offer you the 6 available nights however the beginning of that 6 night selection is outside of the booking window (hence the error message that we see).

So with the refresh behind it moves ahead a day, makes sense (well Disney IT sense). Why it looks like the 7 month window issue for some is unknown. Overall I would classify it as a bug but your suggestion makes a lot of sense for why it is happening.

Yes, we always have to define 'making sense' through the lens of Disney IT lol

Maybe, but today, when I clicked, check availability, and the calendar came up, it gave me the option to book the room, I hit the check availability button about 2 seconds after my iPad hit 8 am, so I didn’t get to the calendar and book screen room early,

However, when I went to book the room, is when I got the error, I thought that if you got the calendar and it said book, then you were okay, But it seems that if you don’t hit book soon enough, it could be doing as you suggest,

Correct the button is set because at the time you searched for availability the room was available. However, after you hit the "Book" button the website behind the scene does a final verification if a room is still available then grabs it. They can't rely on the searching part because many can click "Book" all in the same time frame.

That does make sense. I’ll definitely try and hit that book button faster, especially now that I know getting it to show up right after 8 doesn’t lock it in!
