Room Requests and Online Check-In

Tonight I called into DVC to make some adjustments to an upcoming ressie as well as add some room requests. I also asked, when I use online check-in, if I make any room requests during that process, do they overwrite what I just requested over the phone. The rep said that there isn't any room request type opportunities during on-line check-in, although I thought there were. Am I wrong? And, if there are still request options during online check-in, should those be skipped to avoid overwriting any requests made over the phone?
 
I know There is at least tbe one I’d you want ti have The first available room in lieu of requests, but also thought there were pretty simple ones too.

If you have other requests, do not choose anything via online check in as it has been said it will override others.
 
They used to have a number of possible requests for each resort through the online check-in system. That has been changed. There are still some requests you can make but they are very limited and some even useless, e.g., for AKV Jambo, you can request high floor when all DVC rooms are on the fifth floor, and for Kidani you can request near an elevator but, since elevators are located throughout the resort, that request can be met by giving you any room in the resort. The advice before was not to use the online request section if you made a request through MS because the MS request would be wiped out. Now, one should likely avoid the online request page simply because it is mostly useless.

Thanks for the responses. If there is a request in the online check-in, should one call back and make sure that the original requests stuck? Or is the advice to avoid online check in altogether?

I would still do online checkin but simply not choose anything for room requests!
 
I have my doubts about the online check in room requests. I am going to call for now on.

Past 3 trips to Boulder Ridge, I have always put in Upper Floor (or higher floor, whatever it is) as my number 1.

I know not all requests can be granted, but I was hoping for better results than that.
 
I just tried to make room requests with MS and they would not take any that are not on the online check in (even number BLT, etc.). Cast member said it was to increase member satisfaction but it seems like it's more a time saving measure.

Interesting. Call or chat back and try again. Many times you will get a different answer,

To be honest, if they have changed policy, I can understand. While many people understand it is just a request, just as many, if not more, become upset.
 
I agree that you should call back. I was able to make a building request last week. My question is regarding arrival time and room requests. I’m wondering if it’s better to put in an early arrival time or later (ie after check out) when more rooms may become available. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don’t think it matters, to be honest. From what I understand, rooms are assigned days before. Whether someone arrives early in the day or later, both are checking in that day, and rooms don’t hsve to be ready to before 4.

Now, I think if someone arrives earlier in the day, and the request wasn’t met, at least one might have the ability, if not fully booked to try and get them change what you have been assigned,

The later it gets, the more people will have actually checked in to their rooms.
 
I don’t do online check in. I email my requests. First time at Copper Creek and I did not get my request. BUT they let us move a day after check in to the coveted “ alternate “ room. We were more than thrilled.

Did they require you to pay a cleaning charge? I heard they do. We’re you able to switch rooms without having to wait a long time in between?

No charge to change rooms. We checked out at 10:30a, and checked back in for the new room. Our new room was not ready until exactly 4p. Still no complaints. The room and location were fabulous. No need for an elevator as we were on the second floor!
