Universal Studios Hollywood Discounts

I can't seem to find a forum here with Universal Studios Hollywood. Just the Orlando version.
Looking for the best discounts on a single day ticket for this Saturday. I'm taking my Mom who is 71. I see AAA has tickets for that day at $110. Is that the best deal out there?
Also, can anyone tell me how "rough" the big Harry Potter ride is there? Maybe in comparison to a Disney ride? My Mom wants to ride it, but Space Mountain was a bit much for her.
We know it will be crowded, but if we get there when it opens to avoid traffic, we can see Harry Potter stuff all we want I hope and then maybe just relax the rest of the day seeing what isn't too crowded. Thanks everyone.

The Disneyland (California) forum has a subforum called Southern California Theme Parks that has a lot of threads about Universal and the other CA parks. For one day tickets the AAA is usually the best deal, most of the good deals are for multi-day. HPFJ is kind of rough, my husband can't ride it because of motion sickness. It's hard to compare with Space Mountain because it's a completely different ride mechanism, but there is a lot of swinging around and movement in general.

Thank you for the info. We bought the AAA tickets on Friday and went Saturday morning. Had a great time. The Wizarding World is better than ANYTHING Disney has ever created. AND 95% less strollers and crowds too. Loved it all, I could have spent the entire day in that land! I think I'll wait even longer to get a new Disney AP after that experience. Wow is all I can say. We even all bought the wands and all 3 cost less than one single Light Saber at Disneyland. Plus we could use them in the land. In my opinion as an AP holder for over 20 years until this year, Disney dropped the ball with Star Wars Land, and cash grabs. I hope Universal expands the Wizarding World over the years and continues the great service there. Amazed! oh, and my Mom was able to ride the ride, but later we just went through the line que to see that painting room again, wow.

Glad you had a good time! We love Universal and especially the Wizarding World. If you ever get a chance to make it to Universal Orlando, Diagon Alley is even more amazing.

Also, if you are a Costco or Sam's Club member, check through then, they often have incredible deals.
