Canadian Disney Gift Cards for trip?

I will be entering the semi-retirement phase of life Dec 31, and my work colleagues pitched in and gave me Disney gift cards as a going away present. It's like they've known me for all these years

Hey Hon Welcome to the Club!
I have been Semi-retired since last Sept and it is wonderful!
Congratulations Hon.
Hugs
Mel

You can optimize this too. If you are a CAA member you get 20% more Petropoints and CAA dollars, pay with an RBC mastercard you get another 20% more Petropoints and 3 cents off each liter of gas, and link your HBC rewards card you get another 20% more Petropoints and HBC rewards points. That's 60% more Petropoints when you fill up along with other benefits. Petropoints is the only points program I can find that allows us to convert points to Disney giftcards. If anyone knows of another points program that converts directly to Disney giftcards, please share.
I will tell my husband not to use the points and save the points for Disney gift cards.

Someone on the budget board reported that her funds were stolen from the disneygiftcard.com website. Not very surprising knowing Disney uses the same password for all our Disney accounts AND they don't have 2-step verification to log in. I just deleted my primary card and will add it back only when I want to combine GCs then delete it again. I'm not leaving my vacation funds vulnerable to theft again. :( Reminds me a little of what happened to some with Optimum cards when they were launched.

@isabellea That freaks me out! I hope Disney replaced her funds! Maybe I will log in and take a screen shot on my phone showing how much I save in there!

Not all her funds. That's why I'm not taking any chance and deleted my primary card from the website. It's not like we cannot re-enter the GC when I want to see its value or add funds to it. Just more annoying...

I have been thinking about getting Disney gift cards to pay off expenses on a trip. Can I not buy a $50-500 type of gift card and load $500? Then I don’t need to combine via the Disney giftcard website. It’s not too bad to carry two cards instead of one. I can just put the cash I save from using points aside and use the money to buy gift cards all at once right before a trip or when needed.

To those freaking out about the one person saying their funds from the gift card were taken. If you read the thread the individual has stated that their actual email account was compromised. That’s how someone was able to access their gift cards. The Disney card site wasn’t hacked. And Disney froze the gift cards that the funds were put on and refunded the lost $.

Biggest thing you can do is not use the same password for things. Definitely don’t use the same password for your email that you use as logins on different sites.

Yes you can. The trick is to find the stores that sell them. I bought some at Metro the week before Christmas, I saw them at Rexall as well. Walmart only had the $25 ones and I believe that Loblaws only had the $25 and $50 ones.
But yes, the $25 to $500 ones are out there.

True it's an isolated case but it's a reminder that if we leave our cards active in the website they are vulnerable to theft. Personal info get stolen all the time and websites get compromised all the time. And truthfully, I don't really trust Disney IT. I will still use the website to pool cards and I will leave an empty card registered in case I need to transfer my funds if I loose my full card but I will delete the cards that have lots of money on them once I'm done. I have pictures of my GC numbers in case I loose them.
