I used the Aspire credit to upgrade us to main cabin extra on a 6 hour transcontinental flight. We are literally in the second row with extra legroom and free alcohol..lol.
I think 30k is an awesome price. I’m paying 46,000 Hilton points for a Hilton garden inn so 30k is great!
Good to know upgrades work for the credit even though they are excluded.
It’s only a 4 hour flight but hey, free!

We decided NYE probably won’t be good, because DH and I work and he never knows what time he’ll actually be home. So I will book next Saturday 1/4. Only 27k points! Just need to call and have my free nights applied to a stay already booked. I’ll get 180k points back, then book this resort. Already made a reservation at the hotel restaurant which is supposed to be a pretty good farm to table concept.

First I want to say you all weren't kidding when you said this is a fast moving thread! Such a fun group.

Alexie what do you all have planned at other stops? Snorkeling is absolutely amazing here. It's a quiet island compared to much more developed ones. We have some gems, just let me know what type of experience your family enjoys so I know what type of things to recommend.
Right now I have the Mayan Princess Beach Break reserved with RCCL. We’d probably only snorkel for a bit. We tend to be beach/pool types but if there is something more exciting.

We’ve been to our other stops before so the plan is to just enjoy the ship in Cozumel and Costa Maya.

I need some help with the math on this one.
Buying Universal tickets with UR will cost $357 or 28,540 pts for 1 ticket (using CIP 1.25)
Buying on Sam's Travel is $322 (I could use chase portal)

What's a better deal, taking cash credit from UR and buying from Sam's OR just using UR?

Thank you!

Buying on the CIP would 'cost' you $285, where you buy from SAMs you would need to cash out $322 (32,200 pts). So would be a pts savings of around 3,600.

Re-read it, What do you mean using the chase portal to buy from SAMs?

I think it means going through the Chase shopping portal for the 2x (or whatever it is) for the 644 bonus points.

Ahhhh...Okay, thank you. So apples to apples it's a better deal to use the UR b/c $285 beats $322.
I meant I could earn 2x bonus points if I used the chase shop online link.
Thanks again. I'll stick with the UR.

Not sure if I should ask here or the gift card thread, but giving this a shot for a quick answer: I was looking at my Chase Ink card online and saw a $25 off $150 BJ's offer. So, I bought $150 in Disney Gift Cards from BJ's online (at a discount) and also the $10 online membership, to bring the total over $150 (figuring I'll buy more Disney GCs in the next year). It was one transaction/payment, but I'm seeing it pending on my Chase as two: $10 as one and the rest as the other. Will I still get the credit?? Or should I go in quick and try to cancel and add another item to bring the non-membership part over $150? Not sure how Chase handles this.

After receiving my first 2 SW RR cards, I'm curious about something.
I installed the chrome extension button for shopping using RR.
Do I have to use a SW RR chase card to make the purchase to earn the RR points?
I'm wondering if I could use the chase shop link to earn bonus points, using a Chase non-SW card, and double dip by clicking on the RR button as well?

I am always a fan of a CIP - you could also get one and cross-support to one for the other spouse!

When you pull the trigger please consider using a DISchurners support link 😊

Also, PCing a CSP to freedom or freedom unlimited is a very common move!
Hi old friend! I miss seeing you around the Dis! I was actually thinking of you earlier today as I was reading through some Aulani TRs.

I think a CIP for your DH is a good choice. You probably already know this but URs can no longer be used for Disney hotels. 80k URs is still a nice bonus.

I don’t think you’d have any issues getting a biz card from Amex. And then maybe after that you can have DH refer you for a CIP and then you’ll have another 100k URs. The timing should work well for you to be under 5/24 after hitting the spends for DHs CIP and your Hilton biz.

Thank you both! You both mentioned me getting a CIP, but could I? I already had one that I got in Dec. 2017 and then PCed to a CIC probably a year after. Not sure what the eligibility is to get something a second time?

I'm not on Reddit/DISchurners, I'm sorry. I did look at my own referral options and the only Chase business card referral I can send to DH is the Business Unlimited - could he get that in addition to the CIP? Would be nice to get the extra points! Heck, could I get that too, maybe off a future referral link from DH?

Thanks, I'll plan to PC my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited.

I'm okay with not using URs on property. We used some for one night in a Disney Springs hotel in March and that comes with the 60 day FP and EMH through 2020, so I think we'd target those hotels with points for future trips too. (We're also using Hilton points to stay at the DoubleTree for a couple nights for those benefits).

I'll plan to go forward with the AmEx Hilton Biz for me and the CIP for DH, I think. Thanks again!

!!!:scared: it's called Blue from Amex..... landing page said earn 1x point per dollar spent...so that's an MR earning/holding card...I hope! (I didn't relish using a */24 spot for this but didn't want to lose the MR's I had)
good to know! Then I can get rid of that AF as soon as I get this set up!

Well at least you won’t lose MR points if that is the case. The Amex Everyday card is also no fee but has a 2x bonus category for US supermarkets. It also offers a 20% bonus on your MR earnings each billing cycle when you make 20 or more purchases. I’d take that over a 1 MR point card. Have you already had the Everyday card? Just wondering why you’d choose the Blue over the Everyday since both are no AF.

I'm not sure what to tell you b/c when I did this offer I purchased the 3 X 50 pack, plus 1 x $25 ,and it showed up as 1 transaction of $169.48.
I recall others posting on the gift card thread about your same issue. This was really hot around black friday, so if you go back on that thread around then you'd probably read how it worked out for those like you.

Mu gift card transaction from BJs in December posted as two charges (one purchase) and I did NOT get the credit. I think someone on this thread may have had some luck chatting with Chase.

I got those two cards mixed up. I actually have both. The everyday card is the one I get better offers on usually and the one I have the Sam’s club offer on. The Blue card that I have has 3% back at grocery stores. I have had both of them for 10 plus years but no other Amex. I had been cashing out the MR one for gift cards when they had discounts but haven’t done that since I started following here. Planning to save them until I get another MR card and use for something bigger and better hopefully!

He could get the CIU as well, but it's recommended to wait 3 months between applying. So he could get CIP now and then CIU later, or vice versa.

No, going through the shopping portals you typically don’t need to use that Company’s CC. Especially with the airlines since many people don’t have CCs associated with them.

Regular economy or basic economy to main cabin extra isn’t technically an upgrade since you’re in the same cabin. It’s seen as a seat selection fee which qualifies for the reimbursement.

Even multiple non-membership items may ship separately and count as 2 shipments. Best you can do is hope to SM Chase and get them to credit. I’m trying this but they are slow to respond to SM. One person here, I can’t recall who, had success with SM. Otherwise cancel and try what worked for @Oscar Madison

same here. I bought the same things on two different cards. One posted as one charge and I got the credit, the other posted at two charges and I did not get the credit.
