Thank you both! You both mentioned me getting a CIP, but could I? I already had one that I got in Dec. 2017 and then PCed to a CIC probably a year after. Not sure what the eligibility is to get something a second time?

I'm not on Reddit/DISchurners, I'm sorry. I did look at my own [SUPPORT] options and the only Chase business card [SUPPORT] I can send to DH is the Business Unlimited - could he get that in addition to the CIP? Would be nice to get the extra points! Heck, could I get that too, maybe off a future [SUPPORT] link from DH?

Thanks, I'll plan to PC my CSP to a Freedom Unlimited.

I'm okay with not using URs on property. We used some for one night in a Disney Springs hotel in March and that comes with the 60 day FP and EMH through 2020, so I think we'd target those hotels with points for future trips too. (We're also using Hilton points to stay at the DoubleTree for a couple nights for those benefits).

I'll plan to go forward with the AmEx Hilton Biz for me and the CIP for DH, I think. Thanks again!
The answer to your question is very prominently featured on DISchurners believe it or not. It’s a topic we are frequently discussing over there. I would also highly recommend you consider joining. The best way to pay it forward and say “THANK YOU” to the folks who provide helpful information here is to use a support link, which also costs you nothing. 😊

I've been waiting and waiting for a sale, and this is definitely better than any of the ones I had seen previously. We'll be saving about $430 USD on our one bedroom Emu Walk apartment!

That's a great find! We stayed in a 1BR Emu Walk apartment last June and absolutely loved it. It's pretty basic, but you're right in the middle of everything, and it's so convenient for field of light tours, stargazing, etc., and the kitchen worked well for us for self-catering from the nearby grocery store (though we were glad that we had brought some wine with us from our wine tours in the Adelaide region).

We will be at Portofino Bay at Universal over President’s Day weekend and we are at Disney for 3 nights (2/17-2/20). We used our gift cards to pay down our charges last trip. I had so many cards (3–Yes 3 redemption cards from 3 Disney cards) plus 1 gift card that I didn’t want to risk forgetting them at home, so...I used them towards paying the cost for our package this trip. I had about $600 total. I will still earn points using our CSR on the reservation, and I thought we might want to use the Disney Visa for 10% on some of our meals. We have 5 over 10 now so we opted not to do the dining this trip. Was That a bad move? Could we still get the 10% off if we use the Disney Visa card on file and pay down the hotel charges with gift cards?

We are planning to be at Portofino Bay over President's Day weekend as well. Just debating upgrading to club level, but not sure it is worth an extra $375. We are celebrating our youngest's 18th birthday.

It looks like that is a popular time to go since a couple of others including me are also at Universal that weekend. I have stayed Portofino CL a couple of times. It’s worth it since you will able to make full use of it for breakfast, evening lite meal and wine/beer, etc. We go so often that we go at a relaxed pace but if you’ll be in the parks most of the day, I am not sure it is.

Awesome! We don't stay in the parks all day either. Our girls mainly like the HP areas. Do you get a decent breakfast in the Portofino CL? I read somewhere that they have protein.

Oh, wonderful! We've chosen Emu Walk for the kitchen and the washing machine  What kinds of foods were you able to get from the grocery store (IGA, right?)? I expect prices will be high but that's to be expected and will still be less expensive than eating out for every meal!

DH is feeling better and the plague is leaving our household it seems. The giant horsepill antibiotics are helping my ear but giving me stomach cramps. I don't care, I'll take that trade.

Finally got around to ordering a Disney giftcard from Sam's online for that Amex deal. Had to call Sirius to knock down my bill for 2020, too. That's about all I could muster today.

Regarding SiriusXM, do you just call and say you are thinking about canceling? What's your tactic?

Not the OP...but that is what I do...my DH wants it in his car, so a week or so before the renewal...I call, say I’m thinking about canceling due to the price and each year they offer 1 yr for $72.65 includes taxes etc
I do this every six months. I call and ask to cancel. Usually they offer a couple offers before they get to the good one. Last time they just went straight to it 😜
Me too. I can usually get $25-30 plus taxes/fees for either 5 or 6 months. Last time I called for my car they offered me $4.99 month. Comes to $6.06/month with taxes. Usually they offer one price for the entire 5/6 months.
I set a reminder in my calendar so I remember to call before the promo period is up.

Yeah each time I call its two No's and then magically an offer I asked for at the start of the call pops up on their screen and they are able to do it. :rotfl2:

That is correct, Our credit history is pretty sparce. We have a LOC with our US bank and that is the only thing showing other that old school loans that are paid off. My Credit score is about 740 but no debt and no we do not own anything stateside, no house so no mortgage. We maintain our mailing address to a friend's house but we have never lived there. Times were tough for us and we have a stain for a credit card that was left not paid during a really hard time during the 2008 time frame. But by the time things were going ok, that debt had been sold and passed on so many times we could not even figure out who owned it and who to pay. Several places still claimed it at the same time so just gave up. Not sure what the right decision should have been but here it is 2020 in a few days and trying to gage how to proceed. Thanks for asking. It is definitly part of the learning process that is hard to do online, the part of about being not in the US.
I churn from overseas & had exactly one CC (Chase Disney) on my personal credit history when I started. I also had 4-5 years of being an AU on another card. Amex Plat, CIP, CSR all went through. I don't think something from 2008 will appear on your report anymore but it may be an issue that the banks cannot see any CCs at all. You might want to start smaller.

Officially announcing the gender!!

I’m beyond excited that it’s a boy!! I absolutely can’t wait! My brother has two boys so it’ll be so fun to see them play together and I’m not girly AT ALL. I can’t wait to play with hot wheels and trucks. I have a video because I opened the outfit while Dh cut the cake and you can hear me say “yes, it’s a boy!” Lol. My SIL made the cake and I think it turned out really well.
Congratulations!! :earsboy: DH & I both say we will be happy either way when we have kids (& we will be!) but I also know he secretly wants a boy & I want a girl :p But I am sure that after you have your baby, whether boy or girl, you can't imagine having anything else.

I spent a little time on the Facebook Mardi Gras cruise group page This cruise has been sold out since June. It was an itinerary not found on any other cruise line. Many people had already booked flights. Carnival is working with the Airlines. American is offering refunds, Delta free changes and BA you’re just SOL. Im not sure about the other airlines. Carnival’s offering 400 dollars pp if airlines wont work with you.
Those that booked airfare through Carnival get full refunds of course. Carnival’s other new ship the Panorama was delivered on time and set sail Dec7 out of LA. It was a different ship builder.

A lot of people were also sailing on the next cruise which was a transatlantic back to Newyork. I feel bad for the people out a lot of money. Not a great way to spend the holidays. I was fortunate all my flights and hotels were just point refunds.

I plan on booking the inaugural cruise on DCLs new ship. I’m going to keep my expectations low and definitely not book anything nonrefundable.

The sweetest words in churning right now (to me):

You did it! Your 80,000 bonus points are on the way!

Also see 20k cross-support pending so I’ll be replenishing that UR stash VERY soon 😊

As a related DP, they did not count a return against my total. I met the MSR either way but the return never got subtracted from my tracker.

Oh, good news. Just started up the service and they hooked me with the free 3 months. Thanks!

Good tip about the calendar!
