2019 Holiday Time at DLR Superthread: 11/08/19 - 1/06/20!

Quick question. I’m going to brave the parks tomorrow. Which side should I start on? They both have early hour. Will it matter?

I think it depends entirely on what rides are most important to you. At 10, everything becomes pretty packed. So if you have park hopper, go to one and get fast fastest for the other.

So I was under the impression that the holidays ended January 5, but from the calendar it appears the refurbishments of IASW and Snow White don’t start until January 7. So now I’m thinking of letting the kids play hooky one more day or even better going by myself (terrible mom alert 🤪) for one last fix before the refurbishments and the holiday stuff comes down.

How crowded do y’all think it will be on Monday January 6?
We live in Los Angeles and our kids attend the Los Angeles Unified School district and are out of school until January 13th. We are still going on January 6th and 7th even though it may be crowded with school kids and pass holders. Hoping it's not though!

As the title of this thread says, Holiday Time ends on Jan. 6th. So expect large crowds that day: last day of Holiday Time + first day that the lower APs are back + some of the larger school districts are still on break + Mondays are usually busy = be prepared and have a good plan!

I’m sure you didn’t mean for this to be as rude as I’m perceiving. We’ve had a lot of stress and family drama the past few months, so I have not been paying super close attention to the dates that the holiday season ends at Disneyland, I just assumed it was the 5th. Thank you for so directly pointing out how wrong I was.

Oh it’s going to be crowded. I think we will skip. We were able to go once in November and once in December, so I think I’ll just close out the holidays with those memories!

As long as you have a plan and patience, you will have a great time!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!

We try to put as much important information as we can right up front so that it is easy to find, knowing that it's way too easy around here for crucial info to get lost in the shuffle. You aren't the only one reading this thread, so the reminder about the dates was for everyone (even though your post is the one that got quoted). Sharing accurate information doesn't point out that anyone is wrong -- rather, it makes sure that no one gets caught unaware in an overwhelming situation that they were totally unprepared for. (Can you imagine walking into the last day of Holiday Time and the AP blockout lift without advance notice?!)

Ok, my wife and I have decided to make a last minute trip to LA for the Gilmore Girls tour at WB and now we realized we can add some time at Disneyland to the trip! We've been to WDW more times that we can count but never been to DL. What can we expect with crowds this Friday and Saturday (3rd & 4th)? It's not vital that we get on all the rides, really just want to experience DL and the Christmas decorations/parades/shows and we do want to do the Haunted Mansion setup for Nightmare Before Christmas.

Oh, and I have yet to visit Galaxy's Edge at all so that's a must for me and would really like to do Smuggler's Run -- should we head there right at rope drop?

We're heading in on January 5th and 6th to see the Christmas decorations before they're gone. Wondering which day to do which Park. I know that some APs are blocked on Sunday- should we do Disneyland first and DCA on Monday? What would you do? Thanks!

Another random question. If the park opens at 9 on Wednesday with no magic morning and hour, parking lots open at 8? I’m trying to decide if I should do toy story that day to see if the new security thing is open. I’m just scared it won’t be and I’ll be stuck in the harbor horror entrance lol

I would try to do DL on the 5th while you have even the slightest advantage of some passes being blocked. The 6th should be a very busy day. But keep an eye on the app -- you never know exactly what will happen.
