What are the opinions about boarding groups during an off peak day in February? (Tuesday, Feb 11th) We have dinner reservations at Hoop Dee Doo that evening. We made the reservations before boarding groups were announced. We'd really like to keep them but we're concerned our boarding group will be so late it would conflict with dinner. Welcome thoughts and feedback!

If you can either move dinner or the DHS day, I would.

If not, I would arrive before opening to grab the best BG you can and hope for the best. Worst case you decide that day which is more important and skip the other. Dinner isn’t pay in advance, is it? If not, I would modify it to a a different day and cancel to avoid penalty if ROTR conflicts.

no one knows what will happen as it's a fairly new experience. In any case if the morning you try for a BG you get a late group and you are afraid of missing your HDD, you can cancel the HDD or not go to RotR

I’m here now. I have Three UK and in every park I’m on AT&T 4G. I am having to switch between wi-fi and 4G periodically depending on where I am and what is giving stronger reception.

When I got my boarding group on Friday, I couldn’t get the app to work on Sunset Boulevard using 4G so quickly switched to wi-fi to secure my boarding group at 7:01.

Coming from Ireland I'm sure it's the same. Do you think it's best with 2 phones to use one on WiFi and 1 on data? I'm guessing if before opening time bars are low on phone to both switch to data.

Nice to hear of people out this way get them as I was wondering if it would be mkre difficult

I hope not. We are getting off a cruise at 7:30 AM and are going to try and get to the park for open or very shortly after. Its probably a long shot we can get BG at 9:00 open, 8:00 is almost guaranteed failure.

If it reverts back to the good ol’ days before BG were going in 60 seconds, as long as ROTR is not being temperamental you can pretty much assume with an arrival before opening and a regular BG you’d ride in the afternoon at worst and make dinner without issue.

There would be the cancellation/no show fee if you only cancel of, though if you explain the reason you need to cancel is due to the RotR boarding group I would think you could get it waived

There's just no way of knowing what will happen. So it's a matter of choices

Hey, it may end up that this last week is a major outlier and you can be fairly confident a pre opening arrival gets you on the ride with plenty of time to make a dinner ADR.

Luckily you’re far enough away that you’ll be able to reasonably predict if you’re looking at a 60 second sell out or 15 minute one before you have to make a final decision.

Yeah, definitely challenging to schedule anything outside of DHS on days you want to try for RotR. If that is the only day that works you could try and hope for the best and if not you aren't any worse off than not trying.

HDDR is doubly tough as it takes a while to get there

Everyone needs to be tapped into the park in order to get a boarding pass. You cannot just bring their magic bands/cards in and still get a boarding group for them. I'm assuming that's what you mean by "fast passes" as fast passes are not a physical thing that you can bring. We are not early risers either, but we will be for RotR, because that's what it takes.

I’d just keep reading this thread. You have a ton of time. Nobody can answer your question but there’s 100 pages of info and real world experiences here and we’ll probably lay down 100 more pages of info and live DPs before your trip too

I understand the notion of boarding passes. Do you know if one person can bring the fast passes and check the in and get in the queue for boarding passes. Or does everyone need to be in attendance? My family aren’t a bunch of early risers, so I’m trying out ideas.

Yep! That's one of the issues...it will take a while to get over to HDDR so we need to take that into consideration.
