2020 dining plan changes- game changer! DxDP - any plan changes or credit sharing issues?

‘I agree with this, amd it works the other way as well. At a few TS restaurants on our last trip, our new Disney adult wasn’t always keen on the adult choices (Snow White’s dinner....sorry, blanking on the name), so she had a larger portion of one of the child offerings.

I haven’t found that our kids are always eating the same things, even at QS (unless they want). TS definitely have choices for kids meals, and we didn’t have a single hot dog during our last trip! I admit, my 6 year old did eat multiple pB&J sandwiches though! :rolleyes1

I was thinking as our family of 5 gets older, we might eventually upgrade to the Deluxe DP, and get two rooms....but sounds like that will no longer be an option.
Definitely still an option! That’s what we do. Put two adults (one parent one kid 10-19 yrs) in one room and 4 (3 of which are really kids between 10-18yrs) in the other room. Only get the deluxe dining plan added to the room with two people and share all credits! As long as you are using the credits on more expensive table service meals, you’re saving money!

We plan to do a split stay- with deluxe on the first leg. Party of 6 -2 adults and kids ages 7,9. 13 and 16. We would have put the two littles and one parent in one room in the past, but with the changes we will do One parent, one big kid, one little to keep the ratio of kids/adults correct for the credits. It should still work out.

I'm sure you are aware but just wanted to mention, all credits will expire at 11:59pm the day you check out of the deluxe accommodation on the first leg of your trip. You will not have a dining plan for the second portion of your trip.

I am pretty sure none of the call center CM are on-site... please someone let me know if I am wrong. There are many people who answer Disneys phones that don't "work" for Disney. Unfortunately, CM do not really many times know what in the world is going on.

It used to be that CRO and WDTC had significant training periods lasting several weeks and including tours of all of the resorts. The call center was located near Disney property. All of the personnel were WDW cast members. Occasionally temps were hired through companies like Norrell Staffing to do dining reservations only. Things have changed...

You are able to use two different Magicbands with different credits when dining correct?

For instance, I'd like to have my parents deluxe plan cover the adults and my regular dining plan credits could cover the kids. (This is assuming that we all have have credits available). No issues with using multiple payments correct?

You are also always able to pay out of pocket for kids (or anyone?) if you are short entitlements or wish not to apply them?

Yes, you can use two different MBs and you can combine DDP credits with OOP.

Has anyone reported being able to share dining credits with others not on the dining plan but dining with you?

Realizing now how rampant it was to pay $40 for a kids Deluxe Plan and getting 3 adult squares, I’m hoping closing this loophole brings up the profit margin so we don’t have to see further compromises in quality. So many complain that DDP killed the restaurant quality and availability, maybe this helps that.

And I hope I win the Mega Millions.

If you think Disney is going to use an increased profit margin to improve the quality rather than pad their bottom line; then you need to get me the number of your pixie dust dealer.

Question. Can I still use my child's quick service for a kids meal for an adult? Example can we all use kid credits at breakfast. Then use all adult credits at Casey's in the afternoon when my child is hungrier.

You can as long as the meals you order at breakfast are all from the kids options.

You can still use your credits at any time you wish. The change is that kid's credits can only be used to purchase a kid's meal from their options. You can purchase 10 meals the same day if you wish. The credits are yours to use at any time during your vacation, they are not restricted to 2 credits per person, per day.

Pretty sure you can use a child credit for a child meal for an adult. At this point, I don't think anyone is monitoring who eats what.

At Casey's, then, you would probably need two adults ordering, separately but using the same account's Magic Bands. Separate lines is probably a good idea, too.

Sorry but this is incorrect. You can order 2 adult meals and use 2 adult credits on the same transaction. No need for separate bands, lines, etc. Just order 2 adult meals and use 2 adult QS credits.

At quick service, they aren't going to check to see who you are handing the meal to.

At Table service, that won't work since they know who they are serving.

Why won't it work at TS? If I want to order an adult meal for my child using an adult credit, I don't see why that would be a problem. Likewise, I've used kids credits to purchase kids meals for my teenager at a TS and never had a problem.

Stricter enforcement across the board. Kids meals are generally loss leaders for restaurants (very low profit margin) and they provide them as a convenience. If you're paying OOP they are a bit more likely to bend the rules (though some restaurants at Disney will still refuse to serve a kids meal to an adult) but on the dining plan, they want adults using those adult credits, and kids using the kids credits to maximize their profits.

Interesting. That has not been my experience. I've never used the deluxe plan, but on DDP I've never had a problem using an adult credit for an adult meal or a child credit for a child meal, regardless of who is eating said meal.

When was the last time you did this? It seems many things changed Jan 1, 2020 and using a child's credit at a TS location to purchase a child's meal for a 10+ may have changed too. We're all still learning as it's only been a week since everything changed.

Yes, it was 2019 so agree it may have changed...but I haven't heard any reports to that effect as of yet.

You can use as many of your adult/child credits as you want in one place. The issue is that where the counter service did not used to be split up adult/child and just pooled and now they're split to clarify the specific number of child credits and adult credits you have. If I'm staying for 8 nights with 1 adult and 1 child, I can use all 8 of my adult credits at Casey's at the same time if I want and I can feed my kid whatever I want (adult meal), however then I will only have 8 child credits left. You can use your credits however you want, but you can only use adult cs credits for adult cs meals and child cs credits for child cs meals. There is absolutely no need to have multiple adults ordering etc. There's no benefit to that; it'll just take you longer.
