How do you get a campsite?

If you have any advise please share. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can offer.
Book earlier. :)

Can anyone add how early sites open up if you call? I thought 5 years or is it 500 days out???

But you are booking at a time that the the busiest of the year something with a very limited supply. Whats its 30,000 rooms versus 720 sites?

ETA: 847 sites but i got the hotel rooms correct.

I have always booked at least a year in advance for our annual trips and never had a problem. But we just purchased the RV so I thought it was worth a chance to try and get a site. I already have our site for October 2020 (Food & Wine Festival).

We’ve finally managed to add the preferred site for our last night at FW, so no need to move the camper now!!!

Still hoping that the Friday night after thanksgiving becomes available, but I haven’t seen a single site at any level open that day in however many months I’ve been looking.

We use a travel agent. Friends of ours were going last Dec. (2018) and wanted us to join them. We called the agent they used and got the same dates in the adjoining site. We were about 4 months out.
We had one day left on our park hopper from the Dec. trip and wanted to go for a few days in May. Called the same agent and she got us in no problem. This was a spur of the moment trip and it was a month out.
Both were premium sites in the 800 loop. Don't know if that made a difference.

I think people regularly cancle reservations more then what people think. When i went in october, i requested to be moved a bunch of times as i upgraded from a pop up to a TT. I couldent get anything. When i arived , they moved me halfway through my stay from a tent site to a premium site. They offered it at check in, i never asked. It was 5 day into my trip when i moved but i had another 9 days booked. And the forst weekend i was there was Halloween. So i can see an overvooking for the holiday but after that sites were open. So keep trying, and calling.

500 days is what it's been.

Technically it is 500 days from ARRIVAL day is the max booking window. (using ARRIVAL day is new)

TA's have no special view or access other than they are simply diligent about constantly checking for availalbility.

I’d say nothing is impossible. This week I managed to book a 3 night stay at the fort for dec 30-Jan 2. You have to jump on individual days and book them separately and then combine the res. You have to check several times a day. I saw premium rv sites pop up, regular rv, and some tent sites.

I just booked 9 nights in June and every type of site was available.

The summer months (June-September) which are the hottest and rainiest months of the year are the least in demand (other than holiday weekends). I'm glad you got your reservation but Fort reservation dynamics are as such:

- locals (within a few hours drive) book up lots of weekends October-May at the max booking window.
- snowbirds book up a number of Preferred and Full sites in the winter months on back-to-back 30 day reservations well in advance
- event and calendars drive Fort demand too (Run Disney times in January and February) and then the spring break/Easter calendar kicks in
- Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving weeks (impacts week before and week after) is also booked over a year early. It's been brutal lately, honestly, getting these

If there is any time left over in between (May? or late Feb?) you might find some dates but folks usually have to keep trying over. and over. and over.

In case I don't understand the Fort campsite demand, I don't mind if ya'll correct me....

I think you have it nailed. But the key is not to try to book a several day reservation all at once. If you know your dates, keep checking and people seem to cancel all the time (or Disney holds and releases sites). I’ve never not been able to piece meal a stay by booking single days and combining them when I have them all.

Are you booked over the Dismeet dates? Hope you can join the group!
