When is the BRV refurbishment beginning? I couldn't tell if the linked post was regarding BRV or CCV...

Staying for Christmas 2020. Will it be done?

Thanks all!

No, it probably won't even start until sometime in the fall. It will probably take one or two years to finish.

First time staying at Boulder Ridge Villa in a studio. Hoping someone could help with room/area to request. Hoping for lake view on a upper floor in room that is closest to main building. Not sure how to best word this. Appreciate any help with this.

I would word the request in order of importance. An example would be lake view, near main elevator, high floor - or whatever order is most important to you. A request to be near the elevator would make it close to the main building, too. :)

You'll either get woods view or lake/pool view. It's not that big of a building for any unit to be closer or further from the Lodge building. Plus the entrance to BRV is in the center of the building. Request higher floor, lake view. That's about the best you can do.

So no pictures leaking out yet? I was hoping something had shown up by now.

Ok fair warning, this a dumb question but please humor this New Englander...

Last time we were at WL, my oldest could not / would not sleep past 5/5:30 AM so my husband and I alternated taking turns pushing her around the resort in her stroller. I anticipate we'll do the same in our next trip in a few weeks with my youngest who also has inherited the early riser gene. The upside is we got some beautiful sunrise photos.

I didn't really think anything of it until, when telling this tale of parenting woe to a colleague, they asked me about looking out for alligators so early in the morning.

....should we be looking out for alligators at WL? I know it's Florida, they are around and that's part of the beauty of nature. I'm just wondering if we should be a bit more diligent and aware. Have there been beast sightings at WL? Please note - not trying to stir up any panic, just looking for a little guidance on Florida wildlife 101.
If you stay on the paved path and do not enter areas that say "do not enter" then you have nothing to worry about. Disney employs people to watch out for any that stray and rehome them. Not to mention, they aren't domesticated to the point that they'll approach where humans are like ducks and squirrels. The danger is entering their area. So stay away where it says to stay away and you'll be fine. No matter what time of day or night.

We are thinking of extending our August trip a day or two and are considering a stay at WL. Based on the article linked above, should room refurbs be done by August? That seems pretty quick to me.

It is hard to know when the refurbs will be finished since we don't really know what they are doing. If the bathrooms are untouched and they are just painting and switching out the furniture, then it might not take too long. There are only half as many resort rooms ever since they turned half of the building into DVC units.

You can always request a refurbished room and see what happens. :)

Why not try for a room in CCV? They’re quite new, and you’ll still be in the main building. I never trust estimated end dates.

Especially since they just got started. No idea what kinds of issues they will find
This is why they do not give formal end dates
The blog is only guessing
They don’t know know

Agreed. But if they still want to take their chances for a new room in the main building, I’d suggest they go in with...

Newbie here, that's in the main building?

Yes! Copper Creek Villas is the new DVC section of Wilderness Lodge. So half of the main hotel itself was converted to DVC units, which means you will be within the main building in the Wilderness Lodge. The only difference is, because it is a DVC unit, (if you get a studio), you will have a kitchenette in your room. There are also 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas available.

Wow, I didn't realize that. Good to know!

We are not DVC but booked a studio direct with Disney for later this year. It was literally $20 more than Boulder Ridge for the week, and I really like the idea of being in the main building. Plus like others said, they’re newer. The rooms look great, and the location between both pools is very convenient.
