Rhine River Cruise 2021

The shipyard tour for the May 27th cruise is actually exclusively reserved by a Travel Agency (I post in a fb group they run). So I assume the Waitlist is in case the TA doesn't book enough slots to keep it exclusive.

Really cuz I called today and disney said I could book it but I wouldn't get the discount or wish excursion? If that TA booked all of it they kind of screwed everyone that was not part of that tour group. Ie I know my cruise is going to be more expensive since it's the food and wine tour. I was hoping to get May.

Right. The *cruise* is not sold out. The 40 shipyard excursions to where the Wish is being built are all held by one Travel Agency for that departure. And yes. They did kind of screw everyone that is not a part of that tour group. But ABD had to agree to it. The TA didn't swoop in and book them all up when reservations opened. They contracted with ABD ahead of time to get all of the excursions for that trip. Which leaves everyone else to either book a different cruise, or take a chance and joint the Waitlist.

What do you mean it's more expensive because it's the food and wine tour? Mine is also food and wine and I paid the same price as I would have for a different date.

There's not a single set cost per person for taking this ABD like there is for the land ABDs (subject to price increases). The cost is determined by the category of the cabin that you book, just like for any cruise. So if you book a BB, it's *going* to cost more than booking a CA, because it's a higher category cabin. And a CA, in turn, is more expensive than booking a Category D. The "price" that you see on the ABD website is the price of the lowest category cabin currently available. It says "Trip Prices Starting From". You have to hit the arrow to expand the price list by Category. So if you don't want to book a category D, then booking a category CA or a BB *will* cost more because it's a more expensive cabin. But it's not an upcharge on some sort of "base" price.

Also, if the food & wine tour is more expensive, it's because more people have signed up for it already. The price goes up as people book it. But it's not just because it's the Food and Wine cruise. All the Rhine cruises started out at the same price.

ETA: I just looked at the prices for the 2 Rhine Food & Wine cruises vs the May Rhine cruise, and, assuming the website is up to date, the prices are all the same for all 3 cruises. The *only* difference is that the Early booking discounts are gone for Category CB on the May and October cruises and it's still there for the September cruise. All the other Categories are the same price, and still have early booking discounts available. You may want to work with a Disney specialist Travel Agent who can help you understand how all of the booking for the River cruises works. It doesn't sound like the Vacationistas are explaining it in a way that you understand.

Well, we just jumped on the bandwagon for these Rhine River cruises with the Wish excursion! None of the ABD river cruises had been anywhere near my radar for our 2021 family vacation, but the FOMO on seeing the Wish being built was strong, lol (I’ve done 12 DCL cruises (family has done 8) and I am hoping to do more once the new ships come online and DCL hopefully rolls out some more exotic itineraries to pique our interest). We had a family pow wow last night about what we’d like to do in 2021, and both of my teens expressed pretty strong interest in the river cruise. Couple that with my FOMO on the Wish and DH giving the thumbs up, and we had our TA book for us first thing this morning!! We are on the July 15 departure and secured the Wish extension. I don’t even know what cabin types we have yet, lol, because I’m waiting to receive the confirms from my TA. (She did just confirm she has them but has been tied up with time-sensitive matters for other clients so will send them later tonight – I’ll update what we got once I receive them; I do also see the credit card charges for the deposit and the Wish excursion.) My daughter and I moved our deposits from the Egypt trip we can no longer do because of her Scotland university schedule, so that’s also a loose end tied up. I’m waiting to see if DH and DS got the EBD for their stateroom, but I made that a secondary consideration to getting our first choice of dates with the Wish excursion available. I’m excited to finally give a river cruise a try!

Looking forward to hearing what you think about the River Cruises, and all about the Wish excursion! :)

Just circling back now that we have received our confirms to report that we got our first choice of two BB adjacent staterooms and that DH and DS did get the EBD! (DD and I were not eligible for EBD because we moved our Egypt deposits, so the river cruise was not considered a new booking for us by ABD.) Super happy with the quadfecta win even booking outside the early booking windows: our first choice date, our first choice cabin type, Wish excursion and EBD!!

Yay I am so happy that you guys signed up - this totally wasn't on our radar either for next year. I just wish we were going to be travelling together again. So far, I am not lining up with any of you :( We are June 17

I know! I had seen you post about your trip date and really would have liked to have been on the same departure as you, but the July date was much better for me in terms of my work schedule and spacing out this trip with some of my other travel for purposes of when I'm out of the office. We'd love to travel with you guys again :)

I just looked at the deck plan for the Ama Mora to figure out where our staterooms are and was pleased to discover that rather than staterooms next door, we have staterooms directly across the hall from each other. That will give us a choice of view from our verandas :)

This is huge. There are sailing parts where there are beautiful sights on both side of the ship. We were running back and forth to different balconies one day and we were NOT close to each other.

Awesome to hear this - our TA booked our cabins this way as well.

We have two staterooms across the hall from one another also! Glad to hear it’s the right call.

Anyone just using chase sapphire reserve as their trip insurance?

I definitely thought about it. I think what I'm going to do is purchase trip insurance, but not insure the full trip cost due to the coverage available with the CSR. So use the trip insurance as a supplement.

So CSR doesnt include presexisting nor will it cover if you change your mind and want to cancel for any health pandemic reasons. Guess im gonna call DIsney and go through them with that.
