Rise of the DDP Resistance January 12 - 21, 2020 - COMPLETED: Final day-final thoughts

"Ok, so I have had some time to reflect on this trip and although it was a really great one, I am not in a big rush to go back. Maybe it was because it was so busy...or maybe because the food was just not very good and the DDP just didn't work for us? Usually I'm looking to book my next Disney vacation as soon as I get back. But this trip felt a little different. It was just way too crowded. I'm happy to wait for another few years for them to add more rides to spread out the hordes of people and hoping they up their restaurant game."

I felt exactly the same way when we got home from our January trip.

Even though our trip last year got cancelled I am with you both. Not in a rush to go right now at all. Also, what is with all the crazy stuff that has been happening there lately?! Thinking 2020 might be the year to avoid WDW.

I totally agree with you on the dining plan; I would much rather do lounges and order a few small plates to share. Appreciated your reports!

Arrrghhh, I'm sad it's all over
:(
You impress me with how good you always look at Disney---I loved the top you wore on your last day, and also that pretty coral colored necklace from another day. How did you like the Outer Rim? I liked the view from up there, and would love to stay at the Contemporary some day.
You have such a talent for writing, and are definitely my favorite writer here---I wish there was more trip; it seems the end came way too soon, ha!!!!! Thank you so much for taking us with you, it was all quite awesome.

because right after we left a cold front came through and I heard it was FREEZING down there.
Um yes it DID! We were cold on MLK Day doing a 5 hour tour in Epcot but then Tuesday and especially Wednesday were bone chilling cold! Sounds weird but honestly it felt worse than NY cold
I can appreciate how visually stunning the colors and fabrics are, and still feel like GF is an odd resort to house a B&B themed bar. I also loved Mizners so that adds to my somewhat negative feelings about it.
Yeah I think it's a weird place for it and think Mizner's fit the theming so much better. I also much preferred the band being on the upper level
pulled pork nachos which were DELISH.
OMG my favorites! I can attest these are good whether you are sober, tipsy, or wasted lol!
**I would NOT do the DDP
We haven't done the DDP in YEARS as it stopped fitting the way we eat, with and without the kids. When it's just us we do so many lounges and signatures booked last minute. With the kids I'll book a couple in advance but we don't all eat dessert every day, we like our apps, things like that. It definitely works for some families but I prefer the freedom to eat as we want and as we go along.

Great report thanks for sharing! I hope you don't end up waiting a few years to go back :) I admit I only felt that way after my WDW work trip for certain reasons and I know the crowds can throw off a trip so maybe what you need next is another adults only trip 🍷🍻

Amazing report! Thanks so much for sharing. You all definitely like to do Disney like us. Snack, lounge, drink, repeat!!!

Catching up on the last few posts but that pretzel at Jock Lindseys looks awesome. I had no idea it came with all that extra stuff here I thought "everything " was literally just like the everything bagel flavoring.

I'm still offering myself as available for adoption for your friends. We love Wine Bar George but I was definitely on the lower end of their price point wine wise. But I'd love to see how the $1500 wine goes down.

You have me so excited for California Grill brunch. Its been a while since we did it and can you believe I know our 180 days for our next trip so we don't miss it!

We just returned and had the same experience. All the parks were extremely crowded, and the food keeps getting worse and worse (Chefs de France sure ain't what it used to be). We paid a lot of money to be disappointed, unfortunately.

It's such a shame!!

You're too sweet! I think the weather was nice enough that my makeup wasn't sliding down my face lol. I liked Outer Rim I guess--but the view is the best part. The lounge and surrounding area felt like an airport bar.

It's 65 here and all the college kids are sunbathing 😂 😂 😂 I think it's the dampness that makes it feel colder than the NE. Also, everything is in the shade in WDW, so that makes everything colder.

OMG my favorites! I can attest these are good whether you are sober, tipsy, or wasted lol!

Ha! It was elevated drunk food for sure. I loved the little pineapple bits.

YAAAAS I for sure need an adults only trip. It's just really hard to be spontaneous with kids...although I have to say, it's hard to get us all in one place by a set time too.

I'm still offering myself as available for adoption for your friends. We love Wine Bar George but I was definitely on the lower end of their price point wine wise. But I'd love to see how the $1500 wine goes down.

Sorry! Only room for one free-loading friend lololol

Unless they totally screw the pooch and find a way to ruin this brunch, I would try to get a reservation for every single trip moving forward. It was so great.

Yeah..unfortunately we had a few friends come back and say the same thing. All of Jan and Feb have been crazy down there.

Thanks for all your reviews! I really enjoyed reading your report. We were also down there in January at the end of the month and I can confirm that it was CHILLY! With all the craziness going on, I'm not sure when we'll be back and I have to say that with all these uncertainties right now, I am glad we don't have anything currently booked. Hope that Disney magic comes back to you soon!
