Halloween Time Superthread 2020: Oogie's Back!! And Other Halloween Time Information -- Please Read Post 1! (OBB DATES CANCELLED 7/24/20)

Can anyone tell me that when it’s not a Halloween party night, does WOC play the normal show or is WOC only on Halloween nights during this period, with the themed show?

Can anyone tell me that when it’s not a Halloween party night, does WOC play the normal show or is WOC only on Halloween nights during this period, with the themed show?

Last year it was normal WOC on non-party nights and two Halloween specific WOC shows on party nights. (Two showings of the same show)

Hi all. We took our first family visit to DLR in June 2019 (SWGE reservation blocks times). Several WDW trips and just finished our first DCL. Anyway, I live in the Northeast (PA) and might possibly have business to conduct in La Mirada from 1-10pm on Fri Oct 16 and from 9-5 on Sat Oct 17. So, cross country flight early Thursday am (land 9am-ish local time at LAX) and fly back on Sunday. This would be a solo trip, and possibly just staying at Trop and commuting to La Mirada as needed.

So, I'm looking for thoughts. If I am going to DLR, I will have most of Thursday, the morning on Friday and perhaps the evening of Saturday. I don't think those days fall under the EMM if I get a 3-day ticket. Then, there's OBB. If I get a ticket, does it function like WDW where your party ticket allows park entry at 4 or 5 pm for a 6pm party start? With that little amount of time, I'm not so sure that hopping would be much of a benefit. Any thoughts or advice?
Wow, this is going to be a very busy trip! If you get a 3 day ticket, MM will be on the Thursday and Saturday. (MM is usually on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, unless Disney makes changes, e.g. during Christmas Week.) With your 3 day ticket, you'll have one MM -- so either your Thursday or Saturday. The OBB tickets do allow guests to enter 3 hours before the start of the party (usually either at 3 pm or 4 pm, depending on the party start time that day). The OBB tickets last year did not allow hopping, so you would need your separate park ticket for that. Hopping would be beneficial if there were a ride, show, or meal you really wanted to do at DL. For example, if you managed to get a late BG for ROTR, you would need a hopper or separate DL ticket (not just to get the BG, but also to use it later!). If you wanted to have dinner at BB or if you wanted to see the Halloween Screams fireworks, you would need a hopper or separate DL ticket. Many DISers posted in the Halloween Time Superthread last year that they hopped during OBB because they wanted to see Halloween Screams (a great show!). Hopping makes for a busy night, but there can be good reasons for doing it.

Thanks! So, given my time frames, EMM just will not fit. So, it looks like a ticket for Thursday, and a party ticket. If I land LAX around 9-ish, that should get me to the park around 11? I could just spend Thurs at DL park and then maybe use a party ticket for Sat night. Maybe I can add another ticket for Fri morning to squeeze something before noon (need to be at La Mirada by 1pm), but without EMM, that might[ be pushing it.

Thanks for your input and help!!

Is there any way you could arrive late Wednesday night? That would allow you to use MM on the Thursday if this is important to you. Just a thought...

Nope. The only way flying out Wed night, cross country, even with time zone changes, would arrive 10:30ish PM local time. Too late. Even still, the more I think about it, I'd probably be looking at paying for 3-day tickets plus OBB ticket, and I'm not really sure that would be a wise use given my limited hours which total about a day and a half of usage. So I think I'm just going to use Tix for all day Thursday.

If I am thinking about this properly, if OBB is held both Thursday and Saturday, I would need to get an OBB ticket, but DL park would need it's own ticket anyway for Thursday, so, it would probably be a better use of time to plan for a Saturday party and show up around 5:30-6 (leaving La Mirada around 5)

Regarding OBB, what is the usual time for the party? Starting when, ending when? I understand that I could still potentially enter the park a couple hours earlier than park time. I will most likely stick to Party exclusive parades/shows. Don't need any special character meets on a solo trip.
Thanks for the thought. I appreciate it!

Last year the parties were Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. No Saturdays.
Hmmph. Ok. Thanks. I will just have to keep an eye out and go from there. I know this isn't really the best thread for the follow up, but does DL run an after 4pm special at all? (Thinking about my Saturday evening after 5 pm). If the only party day is Thursday (my Friday is full elsewhere from 1 till 10 pm), I would hate to spend a full day ticket for DL park from 11 am-ish arrival onward, PLUS a party ticket for just one day total. I might just have to forego the OBB ticket, then. That would be a bummer, but, that would just really make the most sense. Either spend 3/4 of a day at DL, or just wait and enter with an OBB ticket about 3 or 4 pm and stay in DCA.

no they don’t offer an evening ticket. If I was you even though the party would be that night I think I would still go to Disneyland that day. It’s your only full day.. so go to Disneyland, use maxpass, hit the party, and then if you wanted you could still go back to Disneyland before parks close.

If you will be here for a convention, sometimes there are twilight tickets offered through the conventions. This year, the one OBB that will certainly be on a Saturday is 10/31.

Planning on going to an Oogie Boogie bash this year and had a couple quick questions related to the frightfully fun parade.

1. Which way does the parade run? Where did it start and finish?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations for spots to watch the parade? (Particularly with respect well lit areas for better picture taking)

Thanks for the help!
Thanks in advance for the Hawk College Point

Cruise through the last half of last year's Halloween Time Superthread (once the parties start and the reviews start being posted) and you'll find the answers to your questions (plus descriptions of the parade and detailed descriptions of good viewing spots)!

Keep in mind that what happened last year may or may not happen again this year. So be flexible with your planning.

Click on the 3 dots, enter the page number you want (or think you want -- sometimes you just have to guess!), then hit Go!

Im coping with my sorrow about my cancelled trip for next week by jumping into all the October and Halloween related threads. We’ve moved our plane tickets, but haven’t decided yet which days we will be in San Diego and which days at DLR.

Looking forward to reading this thread and learning more about Halloween festivities as we finalize those details!

I think my kids will end up enjoying this fall trip even more than they would have enjoyed next week, with so many fun extras to add in. (They will be missing more school, which isn’t ideal although they’ll probably be excited about that too...) And I get the fun of planning another trip! Silver lining?

Welcome to this thread! Halloween Time is such a fun time at DLR! You're really going to enjoy it!

All this coronavirus junk is making me wonder how they’ll handle Halloween party tickets if something happens and they have to shut down the park again.

Personally I think they'll delay sales start til the park is open again to begin with.

Paris was due to have an AP party tonight, that's obviously cancelled too. They are refunding tickets.

I'm hoping it will be over by then. I haven't been keeping up on everything in other countries, but someone told me that China is considered over the hump at this point. If that is true, we should be good by then. At any rate, if we buy tickets and the event is canceled Disney will refund us. If you need airline or anything like that, I'd wait as long as possible before booking.
