Will COVID19 effect 50th anniversary bookings?

I know I know we have heard enough about COVID19 however I am curious if these closures and everything will have an effect on next year's reservations?

I am planning on attending the 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021, and as you all know, the booking/reservation window is fast approaching... so with everything in mind, I am not asking will COVID19 still be around next year, I am asking will making our hotel room reservations or packages take a back seat to the rescheduling of everyone's cancelled Disney trips!?!?!?

I expect WDW to be 100% open by 10/1/21 as a vaccine should be approved and distributed to many by then.

The bookings will depend on the economy

As long as you book a room that you can cancel, there is no reason not to book as soon as you can. Personally I would hold off any package that would lock you with a cancellation fee as it will be uncertain times for the next 2 years.

oh, I know WDW will be open... I am curious if we will be able to book at the opening window based on everyone calling to reschedule/cancel for THIS year... especially when Disney could potentially extend the closures into May or June depending on the curve

This is unprecedented so no one really knows the answer to that. But I doubt Disney will decline to to a reservation from anyone. So many who are canceling vacations now will not be able to afford a vacation later, and so many canceling now will be afraid to go later. So I would guess you will be able to make your reservation no problem.

I don’t think it will be an issue. Many people will cancel online with no immediate intention to reschedule.

I expect the closures to affect the 50th anniversary celebration. At the moment, we do not know if Disney is continuing construction on it's new attractions. If they do not, EPCOT will be delayed, TRON will be delayed and all other new. attractions will be delayed. Crowds will also increase due to people wanting to go to Disney after the closure. This is just my outlook so enjoy.

This thing has such enormous financial implications. I would expect many have worries that do not at all include vacation plans. That being said I would expect delays in scheduled openings/events but no effect on reservations. As with everything right now this is just a guess.

Question-when folks say they are attending the 50th anniversary -is it just the one day (Oct. 1st 2021), a week, all month, all year etc? Like, will it still be crazy crowded with 50th anniversary celebrators later in October?

Were staying a few days before the 1st and a few days after. I think it will quiet down later into october. A lot of people want to be there the actually day of the 50th.

Having already decided to hold off this year, October 2021 is going to be my next trip to WDW (had planned on that time of year for this year and TDL/TDS 2021 😢)

It’s my favorite time of year to go, as Food and Wine / MNSSHP don’t hold a ton of interest for me - thus reducing wait times everywhere else - and the temps are usually quite tolerable.

And while I’m super excited to be in the World for 50, I can’t even begin to speculate on crowd size and impact of new policies etc.

Just gonna book the trip as soon as I can, and then... Wait.

Waiting for Disney: A Goofy Adaptation of a Samuel Beckett Classic
Watch Goofy give voice to Vladimir, with Donald as Estragon Duck - hilarity is just around the corner!

Any speculation as to why the dates after 9/26/21 are still unavailable to book? Still hanging on hope that I’ll be there for the 50th.

Definitely get that. But some snapping up of anything might not be the worst thing right now.

We cancelled and rescheduled an upcoming trip twice hoping Covid would be under control and finally gave up, realizing we wouldn't be going any time soon. It would be nice to see things back to normal next Fall and a happy and healthy country.

I will be on the phone as soon as we can, we will be going during “fall break” so not the official anniversary but still a very busy time of the year
