Be uncool! Report them!

My husband and I just came in from our walk, and were shocked to see the police on horses (have not seen that in many years, (other than old Montreal, or downtown) and they said they will be be patrolling this way, ensuring people abide by the social distancing. 😳

Almost everything here is essential services only, all parks are closed as well. We do have a special line to call as well, to be honest, we’ve been walking nightly, and we’ve yet to see anything even close. I’m sure there are, but we have not seen it.

I’m not the poster you asked, but I’ll give my opinion......

While I’m all for social distancing and following the rules, I would not have called 911 on people playing football, even if that was the directive. This has the potential of bunging up 911 lines for immediate life and death emergencies.

Did you read any of my posts?

Yes. All of them. Why?

It explained why 911 was called and the post you are discussing was critiquing my decision to call 911.

At least I think. Otherwise not sure why post was made...

Okay, I've bothered my own thread enough - unless I'm summoned back here.

I have to go yell at some neighbors, I think i may have seen more than 10 people enter an apartment building...

One thing to keep in mind- this varies greatly from area-to-area. In my area, for example, the county has one central 911/Dispatch center for all cities/towns in the county. They explicitly don't publish the local PD/FD phone number- rather everyone is supposed call 911 if you need to reach fire or the PD for any reason (emergency or not).

In times where all 911 operators are busy (very rare), you are given a prompt asking if your call is an emergency or not. If you say "no" you get sent to the back of the line.

(I know all this as we live on a 55mph street, and have people blowing through the bus stop-sign on a weekly basis, and call them all in as the local PD uses that info for where to patrol more)

I’m sure that’s true and it’s a very good point. We have a separate number for non-emergencies and those lines are available 24 hours a day. 911 is only supposed to be called for immediate emergencies.

Exactly! That's why I called 311 (the non-emergency) number first, because while it was very aggravating, I'm not quite ignorant enough to think it constituted a real emergency. Then told by 311 to call 911 as they are fielding these calls so they can dispatch an officer. Will that change? Quite possibly. I'm sure if they were having issues I would not have been told to call 911.

So funny what you wouldn't think would be a controversial post actually turns out to be a controversial post! :D

Snitches get stiches! Lol!

In all actuality, Chicago PD probably have more to do than break up an infantile football game.

I get it, social distancing...and you're annoyed that you are playing by the rules and they are not...

Well, I didn't expect them to show up with a SWAT team and take down a bunch of dude bros.

In actuality the CPD has been shutting down these gatherings for the past few days all over the city and when we were walking home they were all gone so...

I mean, I already said it was uncool. :rotfl:
