Time to get a grip people!!

Hmmm. Something tells me a conversation between us won't be very fruitful, at least for me. Do you live here?

Well, I bid you all a goodnight and will let this thread take on a life of it's own! Run free thread, go on to greatness!

It's starting...goodbye enjoying the lakefront.

Walked through the park today. Hubs had the dog, I had my rats in a carrier keeping our distance from everyone and getting some sun. There was one group of eight people playing frisbee golf, several families out with dogs, and one basketball game with maybe ten teens. While I understand people are being idiots and making it hard on the rest of us I'm not calling and reporting anyone. Momma didn't raise no narc. I don't know anything about the gathering and I'm not doing anyone's job for them.

Our PD chief has been occasionally posting FB and ND videos pleading people to stop ignoring the shutdown orders by hanging in public or continuing to run a small business and wasting PD resources to break up groups. They’ve now moved to fining individuals. Thanks to the many knuckleheads everywhere, not a single park in all surrounding counties near me is open.

Well, then you can't play with my Smile Time Angel puppet. ;) :p

Snitches get stiches! Lol!

In all actuality, Chicago PD probably have more to do than break up an infantile football game.

I get it, social distancing...and you're annoyed that you are playing by the rules and they are not...

Couldn't have said it better myself. On our local news they were telling people not to call 911 to report people that aren't abiding by the stay at home order. My first thought, are there really that many tattletales out there? I get that they are wrong and all, but I personally just couldn't imagine reporting someone for something like that. Especially since there are much more important things they have to deal with.

Why is it so hard for people to understand. Instead of social distancing it should be called no social contact.

For now at least we're encouraged to get out walk around, go to the parks, etc for our mental wellbeing during our stay at home order and has already been the case practice social distancing good hygiene, etc. (the exception is public park playgrounds operated by city or county are closed but the parks themselves, trails, lakes, etc open. I'm not expected to sit and stay (least not at the moment) :)

It was a glorious day today went out to the park with my husband:

😮 The puppet show is off then? *Scraps the existential puppet rock opera idea*

#I joke a lot but really, I just stay out of other people's affairs when at all possible.

Our stay at home was formulated mostly to place responsibility on the businesses operating when they shouldn't be. If you're at work and you suspect your fellow coworker isn't complying you are able to report to HR or legal department but it's still structured around businesses.

If I saw a business not complying (more IMO that they were open when they weren't supposed to be) I would be more likely to report them but individuals playing flag football no I wouldn't report. Comment under my breath that they shouldn't be doing that? Sure. But report no. It's of course frustrating but in all honesty the most frustrating experience is the grocery store and I'm not about to report each of the customers who forget to keep their distance (they would get tired of hearing from me :rotfl: )

All that said if your area has requested you to report individual people out and about failing to comply I suppose that's that (though I still probably wouldn't report unless I saw it being habitual) just know the PSA won't apply everywhere

Its one thing to walk around. Its the ones that need to invite a bunch of people with them. With whats going on people should only be in direct contact with the people in your house unless your working

The New Orleans PD had to go out and break up large groups of people having picnics in an area of the city. The response was a shut down by the mayor and then the governor the next day.

I have no problem with anyone reporting things they feel are unsafe or putting public safety in jeopardy.

I can't report anything myself, because I won't leave my house.

People on here will argue anything into the ground.

Agreed. I live in Seattle and would love to get a ticket for playing basketball at the park so I can big stink that they are prosecuting me for playing basketball with my son while they complete ignore and never prosecute the shoplifters, drug sellers, and property crimes.

Because the Chicago Police should be more worried about catching prosecuting the people committing murders.

I can't leave this.

Do you understand big cities have districts? So the there are different police patrolling different parts of the city at the same time?
In my district, they would send who is available. If no one available, no one goes. They aren't pulling other police from different, more crime-ridden districts to check on my complaint.

Sweden and Denmark have refused social distancing and they have not had any more spread of Covid-19 than any other country. It's actually lower than most countries so …..

Very misleading statement. Smh

Their infections just started later than the other problematic countries. At the rate they’re on, they’ll also be shutting down in a few weeks.

Sweden only had 1 confirmed case until February 27, which is about 2 weeks behind the US. Now, they’ll soon be at 3,000 cases with almost 70 deaths—the EXACT same growth curve as the US at the 1-month mark.

It explained why 911 was called and the post you are discussing was critiquing my decision to call 911.

At least I think. Otherwise not sure why post was made...

Okay, I've bothered my own thread enough - unless I'm summoned back here.

I have to go yell at some neighbors, I think i may have seen more than 10 people enter an apartment building...

What I meant earlier was I totally disagreed with your local authorities telling you to call 911 and clogging up the 911 phone lines, possibly preventing people with real life & death emergencies from getting the emergency services they need from the police, EMS, and the fire department.

If by direct contact you mean closer than 6 feet totally agree with you there. We did a drive by last week with my mom for toilet paper. I set it down on my side walk to my house, she drove up, parked, got out of her car and picked up the toilet paper. We then chit chatted for a bit. She was probably 15feet from me. It was a bit funny in a not trying to downplay way; just that an ordinary task took on a way different look.

Talked to the neighbor today, he was at his house we were at ours. Probably about 10-15feet feet there from where we were standing.
