Yay! Hopefully this will be a trip that won’t get canceled this year...Grand California VGC 12/27-1/1. We’ve done show dinner packages in the past during Thanksgiving. Any ideas for something new? (It’s me, DH, DS15, DS13)
I've added you to the list! And I second the WOC Dessert Party recommendation...it's the best way to enjoy the show :)

From the DLR Closure Superthread, details on the DLR hotels special offer for those rescheduling trips:

I saw on one of the bloggers Instagram stories (Disney Food Blog) that the Disneyland offer for people rescheduling is:

“Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, these select guests will be able to book a special Disneyland Resort offer for most arrival dates from June 1st through December 31st, 2020. The Cast Member we spoke with said the offer will apply to weekdays, Sunday through Thursday. Eligible guests will receive up to 10% off at Paradise Pier for a Premium Room. Guests booking at the Disneyland Hotel or Grand Californian Hotel can receive 15% off a standard room or 20% off a premium room!”

I am in the early stages of researching a possible trip to DL for Christmas. We are currently booked for WDW for August, but are coming from the UK, so may not be able to fly in August.
We visited DL many years ago, so it will all be like new to me!
Is there anywhere I can look at past park hours, and are there fireworks on every day over the Christmas period please?

TIA :)

Short story- Dec 18-22 BW Anaheim (fingers and toes crossed)

Long story- I was supposed to undergo extensive back surgery *tomorrow* that would require a six month recovery. Due to covid 19, my surgery has been indefinitely postponed while operating rooms are only available for life threatening emergencies. If the surgery gets rescheduled before mid June and it's safe to travel by December, we are still on. I really hope it happens! We've been planning this trip forever, it will be our first time going during Christmas and our last trip together before my oldest leaves the nest.

My tickets expire at the end of the year. I was relived when DL announced they would honor them through 2021, and then very disappointed when they changed that statement last Friday. I bought my tickets at a good discount, so the upgrade would cost several hundred dollars if we aren't able to use them this year. Praying everything falls into place, it's crazy how much life has changed in a few short weeks!

I believe fireworks usually show every night in December. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. You can see the fireworks schedule and a few of the other holiday events in that link or last year's holiday superthread: 2019 Holiday Time at DLR Superthread: 11/08/19 - 1/06/20!

One thing to note: Fireworks may be cancelled due to high winds, so plan to see them as early in your trip as possible. That way if they're cancelled, you'll have more opportunities to see them. I believe during my trip last year, they were cancelled 5 out of 8 nights, so it does happen fairly frequently that time of year.

My second trip to Disneyland and the first for my fiance. Was supposed to be doing our honeymoon in Disney World in 4 weeks, but the honeymoon and wedding got postponed a year. We had a flight credit that needed to be used this year so we will be travelling to LA on the 11th Dec and staying until the 22nd Dec from the UK. Can't wait to come for the holidays to Disneyland done Disney World twice for the holidays and love it. :)

We are planning to be at DL from Dec 23 - Jan 3, staying at the Tropicana Inn & Suites. We love Disney during the holiday season - our last Christmas visit was in 2015. We purchased the Cdn offer on the tickets. Hoping to use our Delta credit for flights. We had to postpone our May Europe trip till next year, was hoping to visit Disneyland Paris to check off visiting all the Disney parks in the world. But it will have to wait. Until then, we can look forward to visiting our ‘home’ park in Dec. Hoping that everyone stays safe!

I've added you both to the list!

... For anyone visiting DL for the first time, there are helpful links at the bottom of the first post to help you get started planning :)
Agree! The information in those threads is very helpful for trip planning -- take advantage of those resources! Then ask any further questions here. :)

Hello everyone! Planning my families first ever trip to Disneyland Dec 1-6! Myself husband and 8 year old twin boys! Thinking about how much fun this trip is going to be and how excited my kids are going to be seeing everything for the first time is the only thing keeping me going right now! Already using statements like " lets do more schoolwork, remember if you keep it up and do a good job, we can think about building a droid" or.." if you eat a few more bites, you can pick out an extra special treat at Disney" my kids no longer believe in Santa, so this whole Disney trip is really working as great leverage!

I've added you to the list! Feel free to add your hotel info when you have it. And I love your Disney incentive strategy! There's no better motivation than a trip to DL

We're going on the 13th-18th! We're staying off property and doing a budget trip because 2021we're heading to WDW, but we just can't wait to see Star Wars any longer!

Hotel rates have dropped dramatically for December. I did a quick search on Get Away Today's website (even though I rarely book a package) for my dates and I couldn't believe how much prices have dropped.

I just checked out the offers on Get Away Today that you mentioned, and it is pretty amazing! I wish I knew if my mom will definitely be able to join me or not, because that would make the package worth it. She was supposed to come with me in August, but with her being high risk, we're possibly pushing back her trip to December to see how things play out when the parks open.

I just saw the rates for the new Westin on Marriott's website. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it will be interesting to see what kind of business they get at $400+ a night. For a Disney trip, I think I would either opt for a DLR hotel or the Residence Inn a block away. It will be interesting.

Hi everyone! I have a trip planned from Nov 30-Dec 6 to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. It will be just the two of us. I'm really hoping everything will be ok by then. I absolutely love Disneyland for the holidays.

I rented points from a DVC member for the Grand Californian for the first 4 nights and then booked the new JW Marriott for Friday and Saturday night. I booked awhile ago and the rates were less than what I paid for the DVC studio. I figure we'll be ready for two real beds and a bathtub by then, since we'll be in a studio with one bed and a pullout couch at VGC. If it wasn't for the excellent and convenient location of the Grand, I would've stayed at the JW the whole time. But you can't beat being in the Disney bubble and the lobby at Christmas! Oh, how I want to be in the lobby with the tree and Christmas music right now!

I already purchased tickets from Undercover Tourist before they raised prices, so we're good to go there. And then just today I booked airfare. It was only 16,500 miles, so I jumped on it. We are flying in and out of Long Beach. I definitely prefer John Wayne (SNA), but they were like 50,000 miles for the same dates! I'll keep checking though and if SNA drops down I'll switch over.

Like I said, I'm really hoping things are ok by then and we can enjoy our trip. Right now I'm just going to pretend they will be and use the planning/dreaming of a wonderful vacation as a distraction to everything else that is going on in the world.
