Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

If Disney brings in the NBA there is no way the parks will open soon. You think they are going to put Joe Schmo in a “bubble community” with highly paid athletes? I find it much more likely they looking to offset tevenie losses by replacing park admissions with NBA money

A few of us have noticed that Coronado Springs is mysteriously unavailable for large portions of June and July. Someone suggested Disney might intend to put these athletes in CS.
It is a convention resort, and it isn’t usually the first resort to fill up, so it is unusual that it would be the only resort without availability unless they have some sort of large group or convention planned there for the summer.
I suppose they could be planning to close it altogether, but since it is a convention resort that is not as popular with the theme park crowd, it does make for interesting speculation.

I agree that by spring its probably not going to be needed. In the interim, the plans that the San Diego parks, which includes SeaWorld and Legoland have planned to implement upon opening. What I find strange is that we finally have a major theme park announce their guidelines of what is being implemented upon reopening and most want to dismiss it. IMO its a good indicator of what Disney Parks will implement.

I don't think you get it, its something they are planning to do, they aren't even opening anytime soon so bottom line is anything can happen. And what CA parks do may not be what FL parks do.

Reminder to stay on topic here as well. Discussing media induced panic or case numbers or deaths or whatever else along those lines is not on topic for this thread. We have a community board and there are other social media sites for that discussion.

I do get it. If you read the article it says directly from it. "Here are the detailed guidelines which the parks have agreed to implement. . . " That to me says they are going to happen. It would be very bad PR if most parks put those measures in place while the Mouse doesn't.
What I don't get is finally some parks release the guidelines they are putting in place and most want to dismiss all cause it mentions wearing masks.

Here's some food for thought. Apparently the number of vaccines for Covid-19 that are being considered for clinical trials has been whittled down to 14 from some 95+ worldwide. There is some serious fast-tracking being done and some scientists are optimistic enough to believe we may, MAY, have a vaccine as soon as January. What if Disney is looking at those bits and pieces of info and considering the benefits of keeping the whole shebang closed until 2021? What do you think?

Its funny how masks are the biggest deal breaker. What about being 6ft from characters at meet and greets that is being implemented.

You can use a similar (although much harder choices) template:

If they require being 6ft from characters at meet and greets you can:

1. Visit and stay 6ft from characters at meet and greets.
2. Visit but not visit M&G's.
3. Not visit.

If they don't require being 6ft from characters at meet and greets

1. Visit and not be 6ft from characters at meet and greets
2. Visit and still be 6ft from characters at meet and greets
3. Visit but not visit M&G's.
3. Not visit.

DS likes to see the characters but gets nervous when they try to touch him so not a deal breaker for us. Masks would be.

Masks will be a deal breaker more so then characters. For some characters will be too but honestly the character meet and greets at those parks aren’t that great and not cared about as much as disney.

But there are also tons of trials for treatments. Already made some progress there too.

Nope.

Honestly? These days, nothing would surprise me. Do I think it's possible they stay closed? Sure. But do I think it's likely? No. I can't see them betting their financial future on a vaccine that may or may not happen in January.

Jrb, it may be time to realize that we could all be walking around Disney wearing our required masks, and we will STILL not acknowledge it. 😂😂

Having met most of the characters already, that’s not a big deal to us. It’s fun to meet the characters, but it’s not a mandatory activity for us. In fact, if we do get to get photos with the characters with modifications, I will actually like not having to wait on a family to have all four kids get their autograph books signed. The lines will likely move far more quickly.

I do get how, for some families with young kids, this would be a big issue. Some of my favorite pics at Disney have been with the characters and princesses, when my daughters were young (ages 2-5) and were hugging (or in one case, kissing 😳) the characters.

For people who have been there, done that- it won’t be as big of a deal.

And why does that earn the need for sarcasm?

A theme park is a theme park. They're all going to run similar protocols. If the "small" parks are taking those measures, and a giant like Disney doesn't at least match what they are doing... that is going to be horrible PR for them.
Why? Disney is the industry leader. They shouldn’t follow other parks. Plus many have mentioned masks would be hard to police in Disney if they are required. Why does anyone think these other parks will have any success policing it. It’s something that will last a week. 2 weeks tops until they realize there is no way to control it.
