MAYBE A MAY TRIP?? 3 WEEKS SAPPHIRE FALLS 2021

Love the excitement of the airport before the flight where we can wander, have some breakfast and roam around Duty Free and spray some perfume....that kind of thing.....then there`s people watching which can be pretty darn interesting!!!!

People watching at airports is the best. I love it all too when going on vacation. The only time I don't love it is when you are late and rushed for time, that can be stressful. But if you have plenty of time to wander around and look forward to vacation, then the travelling is fun!

Oh goodness yes!!!

You see every type of life there.....all with their weird little traits and oddities! I guess someone will look at me and think I’m odd too......nah I’m probably too dull..... ::yes::

We are lucky as we have to be there so far ahead of time, and staying at the airport hotel means we always have plenty of time.....and yes, that is fun and quite relaxing :thumbsup2

Ooh love the hotel pictures. I've forgotten how pretty it is outside (from your other pictures). My Mom is a people watcher, before the stay at home she'd sit in the car while i shopped. Then I heard about every odd person, the classy looking people, the clothing etc. 😆

It is such a beautiful hotel.....and yes, very photogenic, so we do take a lot of pictures of it...everything else too....lol......

People watching is so much fun. We have code words so we know who each other is talking about.....and some folks do have a lot to discuss!!! We saw one guy opposite us in the waiting area for the plane, try eat candy from his rucksack while his wife and kids looked the other way.....genuinely! He got such a slap on the arm when his wife spotted him......but yes, couples rowing and trying not to look as if they`re rowing are the best ones.......lol.......

There`s always at least a few.......::yes::

September has us staying at both RP and Sapphire again. I think we have either 5 or 6 nights booked here before moving over to RP. As we have missed a lot of nights here in May, we are especially looking forward to this part of the trip.

We do love a split stay between these two hotels on our September trip, with so many nights it`s an ideal split as both hotels are more or less the same one....we get the best of both.

Tom does remind me when it was being built, or we heard it was being built, I said oh we`ll never stay there...… they do say never say never......but, when we were shown around it, we honestly were blown away by how fresh and bright everything was and the theming of the whole hotel impressed us no end.

I do think the staff play a huge part in any hotel, and it`s the same here. They are all incredible and make you feel so welcome as soon as you arrive at the doors...….and it continues for your whole trip. Definitely a family feel about the hotel despite it being a convention hotel too. Similar to RP they do host incredibly large conferences and the area where RP and Sapphire join together have an incredibly impressive ballroom/convention area.

But....the lobby...…...we love it. It has a huge area just with seating and a variety of seating that is usually fairly busy with folks waiting to leave or waiting for family members to join them.....it`s a busy lobby, but never feels overwhelming as it is so large.

The Grab and Go, Universal Store, Strong Water bar all lead off the lobby as well as check in and bell services.

They do have safety deposit boxes behind the front desk too for your convenience as the safes in the rooms aren't huge we do take advantage of them.

Strong Water was the first place we were shown and immediately it impressed beyond anything and we knew it was going to become a favourite place for us to spend time in on any given evening.

Again, the staff are all amazing and have some of the best bar staff around.....particularly Lenny, who also gives the best hugs ever!!!! But, their knowledge of rums and what will work with each other is tremendous! And they are a lot of fun too.....we always say we never stop chatting or laughing when we`re in there.....always.

But, it was themed incredibly well, and the ceiling in the bar has rum barrel lids all the way from the Caribbean......

i-7Xv4MwQ-X2.jpg

Looking in it is very open and bright during the day. Although it doesn't open till 4pm for food and drinks. But is open all the way through till 2am. I have to admit we haven't ever seen 2am in there!! I think around 1am is the latest we`ve left the bar....and we are always grateful to be staying at Sapphire on those nights when we don't have as far to walk home. If we`re staying at RP.....that walk can feel a little long....and it really isn`t....

i-LP2tBLv-X2.jpg

i-3xhdWGr-X2.jpg

When we saw the lobby, we again, were impressed by the space and light combination......whoever designed it completely did it justice. And the aroma they use in all the hotels are slightly different...….the one for here is the fruitiest of them all and just beautiful.

i-rT5pS3s-X2.jpg

The lobby looks as good day or night.....and at night you can see the beach ball display all lit up....it is pretty.

i-WFwCW5B-X2.jpg

i-FGBF22G-X2.jpg

The huge picture window is crying out for a giant Christmas tree and on our first December visit, it didn't let us down....

i-FcJBqgv-X2.jpg

And you can arrange to meet the nicest people for dinner there too........::yes::

This was us and @keishashadow and her lovely mister when we met up for dinner and drinks in 2018.

i-rHDqXtp-X2.jpg

Strong Water can get busy at night, and sometimes the convention folks can make it extremely busy.....but most nights, it`s pleasant.

On a Saturday night they have a couple of singers who are just about perfect.....not too loud and very middle of the road songs everyone enjoys.

A couple of other nights, they have a guitarist who can be too loud. He`s very good but his level seems to go up as the night goes on....but usually a quick comment to the manager or whoever is taking care of you and it goes back down.

i-LTVg93d-X2.jpg

i-vbsVCDs-X2.jpg

The views from the outside area is lovely.....night time is impressive of course with all the lights, but during the day I love it just as much and could sit and look out there for quite a time.

i-9gtKpL4-X2.jpg

i-3xgNpdP-X2.jpg

i-9C75R3d-X2.jpg

One of the nicest features off the lobby, is the stairwell that leads to some rooms and down to Amatista restaurant and the boat dock......it is stunning!!!! And very Pirates of the Caribbean feeling about it. Am I allowed to say that on the Universal boards......😉

i-hTBLNZQ-X2.jpg

i-dT2RTBw-X2.jpg

The hotel can hold little group occasions at the bottom of the stairwell......it must feel very cosy and comfortable there as it`s just so pretty.....

i-RRr9FvQ-X2.jpg

Coming up......rooms, views and pool........

More gorgeous pictures!! I seem to remember you saying that about SFR.:ssst: That night picture is gorgeous!

Thanks......I’m glad you like it.

We haven’t found a view we don’t love yet....and night or day, we just adore it......and can’t wait to get back!!

So glad you started your Sep trip report. Dont know about anyone else, but I needed it.

SF looks so beautiful. Maybe if hubby and I ever get down there by ourselves I can book a room there. We usually take really short trips with all 6 of us so express passes are so almost a must.

This has to be the most beautiful view of all the hotels.1588036526075.png

Thanks Vicki.....it is the most beautiful view.

You`d love it there at Sapphire I`m sure......yes, we wouldn't be without EP....even at quiet times, it`s much nicer walking through the EP lane even if it`s just a small regular line.

Gosh six of you!! I didn't realise, for some reason I thought you had two kids.....or maybe I`m getting mixed up with folks again.....lol....I do that sometimes!!!!

No, you are correct, I have 2 boys who arent really boys anymore. Ever since Dad passed we always take my mom and sister on our "big" vacation. I do a few girls trips like our March, moved to May, moved to December trip and then Jeff and the boys will take some weekend ones. I am very blessed that everyone gets along and we are all very different so there is always someone to do something with. Jeff and I keep saying we are going to take time for just the 2 of us, but havent pulled the trigger yet. Hopefully its coming this fall.

Ah, I remember now.......

How lovely though you can spend such lovely times with your mum and sister! And yes, it’s good that everyone gets along.....certainly makes for a better trip lol.......

I know I loved taking my mum to NY and spending time with her there, just us.......Tom adores my mum, but couldn’t spend even two weeks with her......she talks a lot :hyper2: But, I’m glad I had all those trips with her......

But, a trip with just the two of you will be lovely.......:wave2:

The flight although long, no denying that, passes fairly quickly. By the time we watch a couple of movies and they feed us and bring us drinks, time really does go by. I think by the time we hit the Carolinas though, we are more than ready to land.....and of course that last hour of a ten hour flight, goes the slowest.
No disputing 10 hours of anything is long but, all things considered, would rather be in a plane than stuck in a car.
You see every type of life there.....all with their weird little traits and oddities! I guess someone will look at me and think I’m odd too......nah I’m probably too dull..... ::yes::
Lol, that is true, as we ahem age, find ourselves doing it in the parks when we need a breather too.

That was a really fun night :). Believe that was when I dubbed you two official Pittsburgh Steelers fans. look at those handsome couples...no dark roots either lol

Completely agree!!! And genuinely, we love flying, so it`s no hardship......not sure I`d want to do 10 hours in a car....the longest we drive is 8 or 9 hours usually, then we stop overnight somewhere and that's only if we go up to our cottage at the top of Scotland.....and we`ve had an hours break for lunch usually.

I remember!!! We definitely are honorary fans!!! Oh I know....not so sure I`d want my picture taken right now!!! Although, 3 weeks from now.....not looking forward to that!!!!

And yes, people watching is the best!

So, how is everyone doing now we are quite a bit into this lockdown? I know we are all in varying stages of the whole debacle......but for us we are doing ok in general.

We are lucky we are all together and so far not even a cross word in our home...…:goodvibes Although that`s usual for us anyway....we all get along very well anyway. Having Kyle at home is priceless.

I did stop reading around the boards and other sites recently......there is so much negativity from certain folks who seem determined to educate the rest of us how they know everything and have all the answers.....and that those of us who are choosing to stay positive are somehow not as intelligent or knowledgeable as these self proclaimed experts.

I thought I had missed an important announcement several times, when folks were posting their completely unqualified opinion on many, many things as fact.....I`ve never used the ignore function on this site before....if I don`t care for someone or their posting style, I just don`t read their posts, and there are a few.......but some are just so ridiculous that as soon as I see their name, I just bypass their posts.

Yes, we`re all aware of course we are possibly being too hopeful....but I`m sure every one of us who are being hopeful are also being realistic and intelligent enough to work that out for ourselves.

I`m all for positivity!!!!

I`m sure like many we are all missing family right now, at least the interaction most are all used to.

Most of you know I live and have lived away from my family for over 25 years, we are around 7 hours away from some of them, and that`s a good travel day, so it`s not that I`m used to just popping round for a cup of tea on a whim, but knowing I can`t just drive up to visit is the worst part. I haven't seen my mum since last August which is an awful long time.

But, thank goodness for technology......I`ve become quite the Zoom expert!!!

Friends have been wonderful too. Although I have several who live close, we haven`t even attempted to meet up for a distance walk.....staying 6 feet apart just wouldn`t cut it....so as we don`t want to risk each other`s health, we`ve resisted the temptation and stayed away from one another. So, again Zoom and Facetime are invaluable.

But, hope everyone is doing well.......I`m reading so many States are reopening in different time scales, so have no idea on them all right now.....we in the UK are planning on some changes coming up and in June some school kids are going back in phases.

How airports are going to work is worrying! Heathrow bosses admitted there would be a KM long line for each flight if they had to social distance everyone!!!

Certainly the next few months will reveal more as we go along.

And today being May 4th.......is the day we are supposed to be on that plane on the way out to Orlando.....right now we should be an hour into the flight and although it stings a little like everyone else who`s had to postpone or cancel a trip.....I`m a huge believer in looking forward.....and hopefully that`ll be September.......

Plan wise, we have planned about zero for September......we don`t usually plan much anyway, but until it`s clearer what will happen we really can`t.

Things that are out of our control are things like travel bans.

At the moment only essential travel is allowed from the UK, so flying would invalidate our travel/medical insurance which we wouldn`t leave the country without......I couldn`t imagine being in America without it......but out with things like that.....we would be good to go.

We have however, had a rather lovely invitation for something in December.......but will keep that for another time.....:flower1: I will say we are incredibly excited to do this!!!

The suites we have had in the past have all been beautiful, and incredibly spacious for the two of us. This was the suite we would have had today if we had been there.......booooooo!!!!

This one is known as The Sapphire Suite and there are a few of them around the hotel, we`ve had three different ones and they have all faced the lagoon along with the Presidential Suite which was directly above us in this one. You can see the balcony from the boat and our Sapphire Suite is directly underneath that one.

i-dPPxrS9-X2.jpg

These suites also have a nice doorbell, which is strange of you get something delivered and they ring the bell......but nice.

i-HDz93wJ-X3.jpg

i-J7xd94k-X2.jpg

The kitchen area in this one is nice and compact, the fridge is big enough for some bits and bobs....usually wine and dips for us......but it`s the same size as all the regular fridges around the resort.

We never use the coffee maker.....

i-WQq68rs-X2.jpg

The bed here I have to say is the most comfortable of all beds we have ever slept in. Same as in RP.....so comfortable.....and the room is so light and airy and we love the décor in the rooms too.

i-X2CZjw3-X2.jpg

You do have more storage in the suites and it is very much appreciated for us, especially if we`re there for almost a month and are buying stuff as the trip goes along.....I seem to have the reputation of being something of a shopper!!!! I completely disagree......but sadly, the pictures don`t lie!!!!

i-DbPDTG8-X2.jpg

This has one of the best and most spacious bathrooms around......it has it`s own toilet which has a door which can be handy for families sharing, separate bath tub with a shower and a full walk in shower which is fabulous!!! The water pressure here like RP is amazing!!!

i-tkGKrcX-X2.jpg

i-cLDCf2j-X2.jpg

i-qWgqTN4-X2.jpg

And at the entrance you have a little mini bathroom which Tom always seems to inherit!!!

i-JprfdkL-X2.jpg

The view, some may disagree of course, but we love it!!! It is also beautiful at night too and we have an advantage of seeing when the boats are due from the window.....if there`s too many people lined up.....we`ll wait.

Sapphire Falls Hospitality Suite...…..

In September 2018 we were thrilled to spend 4 nights in this gorgeous suite.

This one doesn't face the lagoon, but faces the other side of RP where you can see the Club Lounge and looks onto the venue where they hold the Caribbean Carnivale.

It is larger than the Sapphire Suite and has a huge fridge freezer......which we loved!!!

i-4R3nB5n-X2.jpg

i-j9Km6tw-X2.jpg

i-jDPCKMW-X2.jpg

i-7rHX5tB-X2.jpg

If one of us was at one end of the suite we did have to shout a little to be heard.....it is so large. And the furniture in all the little areas are very comfortable......

i-jzcgfJG-X2.jpg

We ordered breakfast one morning and had dinner from room service as we so loved spending time in this suite, something we don't do very often.

i-4PxqJCb-X2.jpg

Having a full fridge freezer meant that we really needed to buy more things to make it look busy......well, we tried......but this is ideal if you have a few kids and want to stock up on items other than wine and rum!! Or maybe you do......lol...….

You do have much more room in the kitchen area and as well as the coffee maker, there is a microwave too. Not that we used that either.

i-PDLNnM7-X2.jpg

i-ckZmvMn-X2.jpg

Again, the bedroom is light and fresh......we loved this room!!!!

i-tFHhcnf-X2.jpg

As before there is a separate toilet with sink at the main entrance and the main bathroom is large and spacious with a huge walk in shower.

Having two bathrooms is marvellous!!!

i-vqD5WqZ-X2.jpg

i-Lqbt5xJ-X2.jpg

i-PzgKpqq-X2.jpg

But the highlight of this suite is the gorgeous balcony you get with it.......

I didn't actually notice it when we first entered the room as I was taken aback with the suite itself......Tom suggested I looked out the window and then held his hands over his ears as I spotted the wonderful balcony area that stretches the full length of the suite.......

i-75nDVFv-X2.jpg

i-2QZ5qpk-X2.jpg

i-9fzJKRw-X2.jpg

To the one side of us we had the business and conference side of the hotel, so we took this picture of the balcony we had from there...…and we spent a lot of time out there during our time in it......so much so we even gave up a HHN just to enjoy it.....yep, we loved it!!!

i-X6Zt2kk-X2.jpg

At night, again, it was just perfect.....sitting with Rum Mules in two comfy chairs was bliss.

i-4D9MHGh-X2.jpg

i-bPbDVv4-X2.jpg

We could see over to the airport and see planes coming in to land and marvelled at how close together they were...…..actually quite worrying to be honest how close they actually are!!

i-R6JxbXF-X2.jpg

And the suite at night is as cosy as any room when the turndown service has been in and closed all the drapes and left a couple of lamps on......

Well said Carole........ so many people proclaiming to know how this virus works.... too much negativity for me. I get that my August trip to Universal most likely won’t be a go.... ( everyone keeps reminding me) since my dh and I can’t self quarantine for 14 days when we return. Not sure if the borders will be open or if we have travel insurance.......But we will definitely rebook ASAP. Thank goodness for your pre-trip report Carole!!!! It’s a welcome read:flower1:
( sorry for the rant)

Brenda

Now that is one fantastic room!
Super views!

bet you could see me waving to you from the other side of the lagoon

Hope you get this suite again !

I skim through posts that have the negative comments as I know when I see yours, it’s all happy and upbeat.

Very refreshing to read your posts!
Very informative and upbeat.

Quite enjoy seeing all pictures in your posts.

Totally agree with you!!!! It's amazing how many people are now Covid-19 and Disney "experts"... :rolleyes2 And I also scroll past all the "experts" and negativity... Don't need it... Our state is one of the states that is opening up... But only 77 of the 99 counties are allowed to open, the other 22 have to stay closed... I live in one that's still closed... I'm ok with it...
