When will Disney open

The answer to that is above my pay grade. I'm relatively sure that Disney has hired the people at that pay grade to come up with answers. And I sure they will be transparent on how the will accomplish the task. Otherwise it will be a house of cards. I'm optimistic they will do the right thing.

Probably an unpopular opinion but .......

Is there really a difference if you let 50,000 people in verses 100,000? Does anyone really believe that’s going to do anything? It’s been shown COVID will spread through groups of 10 people like wildfire if just one person is infected- why would anyone think it won’t do the exact same at Disney- no matter how many people are ( or are not) allowed in?

Melissa,

I don't think it will make a lot of difference other than reducing the available candidates. What it will help is with all the projected restrictions on distancing and cleaning it will be a whole heck of a lot easier to do this with 50,000 vs 100,000.

I can't even stand to hear his name, let alone actually listen to him speak. I turned on HGTV so I didn't have to listen to it. I figured I hear the summary on facebook, but DIS will do. 8-)

It will shock me if WDW reopens before June. My original prediction was October, and still think our state is not ready to be back open. But since the rest of the state is opening, I suspect WDW will too, just a tad later.

Of course this is only IMHO. Nobody really has any clue, probably not even Disney at this point.

Politics aside, I find the state's re-opening plan must more cautionary than I had expected, which is a positive. Biggest positive is the elective procedures coming back. Having a hard time finding fault with much of phase one.

As for Ft Wilderness, I hope the fact they are opening the state parks on Monday is a good sign, although I know they are still closed for camping through the 15th. We have reservations at the Fort on June 11-15 and won't have park tickets (AP Silver blockout), but it's a perfect way to still enjoy and social distance at the same time.

My wife and I were discussing Disney. It not in the cards this year with everything going on. The other thing is do you really want to be around more people after this whole mess?

I agree with phase one. It's much more conservative than what I expected. IMO our state waited way too long to act on this begin with with, but it is what it is now.

Hope you are able to enjoy enjoy the Fort! We have weekday only passes, so wouldn't go in the summer unless it was just to camp at the Fort anyway.

We have reservations for a state park first week of June and sure hoping camping happens for all us, regardless of the parks.

Whatever Disney decides I am sure it will be well thought out and they will do as much as possible to protect the guests. With that said it's inevitable that some spreading will happen, and that includes after vaccines are available. I am ready for things to open but also not in a hurry. We are going to pass on Disney this year but are ready to book next year and hope things are under control.

Let me first preface this with info from a furloughed cast member and therefore not official. According to his manager Disney will reopen when the state releases the 50% capacity level. Disney will not open at the 25% level. Cannot speculate on the timing to reach the 50% level. Simply wanted to share.

I read an artical that they cant be profitable under 50 percent capacity. So thats probably right.

Phase 2 starts Monday May 11th, but not sure what is involved other than opening camping.

Phase 1 results have to be measured and monitored

remember folks, this is not over. There is just more hospital beds availabl. But do not think, in any way, we are anywhere near the end of this pandemic. Historically most pandemics lasted years, not months

Has anyone seen .what DISNEY'S LAWYERS have to say on the subject? Asking for a friend

yes your right. And now we are entering the “how we live with it” phase.

Hey Mike, no I haven't heard about lawyers but you can bet they are working overtime on it. Just let your friend know I heard they had some of the best in the business.

I was reading somewhere else that 50% capacity is what the 5/10 crowd level is normally, so it is not really like they are running at a very low capacity because 100% capacity is New Years day crowds vs September crowds.

So, Disney waiting until 50% capacity is ALMOST normal operating capacity anyway-? right?
