Anything you will miss this summer due to lockdowns?

Yes of course saving lives is important - this isn't about that.

It's also normal to be sad about what you miss due to all of this.
...
Here's a thread to feel selfishly bad...let it rip!!!
:D
Oof.
Well, a couple trips to Disney.

I can still work on my boat. Flying down to my boat on the space coast, so far, remains available and inexpensive but once things start to open and people take to the skies again ... who knows. I hate driving that far.

If Right now none of our cruising destinations want us there. I could get entry permission to a couple pacific island destinations we've always wanted to see but that's a much bigger sailing commitment than we want to make just now.

Normally I would have a half dozen special projects lined up through the summer. The three I already had cancelled and more work coming in is unlikely. So... I'm gonna miss that.

There probably won't be college kids holding up "Free Hugs" signs at the renn faire this year. I never hugged any of them because ... gross... but I always thought it was a cute thing to do.

I was a shoo-in to win this years face-spitting competition, that's probably going to be canceled.

And I've written off sobriety completely.

First thing that comes to mind is Cedar Point. We have annual passes, but it seems unlikely they'll be open much this summer. They did announce that all passes for this year are good for next as well, so that seems to be an indication that they might not be opening.

Oh, not exactly a summer item, but we had tickets to Tosca in NYC for last month. I kinda got sad when that day passed me by. We had them take the ticket price refund and apply it to their charity campaign. Hoping to go see something next season but /shrug

Missing what I was hoping would be a nice trip as soon as the kids got out of college but before the crowds. Was trying to balance RA pain with a 2 day trip to WDW, MK of course & AK because I've never seen the new night show and a trip to see the HP train at Uni - wanted to try and coordinate with my SIL who lives in Miami with my adorable niece and then visit with them longer in Miami and the beach there. So sad it can't happen this year
Wanted to try and get to Napa Valley with my 2 adult kids, DD just turned 21 and circle to WDL with them too.
Wanted to try and see Savannah GA with DH as a postponed 25th anniversary trip.
Was looking forward to DS joining us in Boston area for an internship & hoping DD would join too.
Wanted a peaceful summer of beach days & outdoor markets.
Wanted my kids to enjoy this age with barhopping and the antics that go along with being 21 & 22

I'll make do counting blessings for a healthy family and bourbon or mojitos on the patio, but it's not what I had hoped would be

So many things. In the grand scheme of things, we've been very lucky so far (have jobs we can do from home, everyone's healthy, etc.) but we're all missing things.

I feel especially bad for my daughter.
-- spring sports canceled (she was anticipating earning her varsity letter this season)
-- driver's ed canceled
-- DMV closed for license exams anyway (she turned 16 yesterday).
-- she applied to 2 summer camps -- both were competitive admission (essays, teacher recommendations, etc) and she handled it all herself. It's VERY outside her comfort zone, but I was glad that she did it. One of the camps has been changed from a week-long camp to a 3-day "online experience" and the other was outright canceled.)
-- our vacation was scheduled for early June and I think we're going to have to cancel that. I think that's the one that just about sent my daughter over the edge.

Self-aware disclaimer: this is a super first-world problem, isn't really urgent or pressing, but still bums me out.

Probably missing scattering my dad's ashes. I want to do something meaningful/not just dump him in my backyard.

I had planned to do it on the one-month anniversary of his death, but everything was closed. Not sure when things will reopen so I can. So I may miss getting to do this this summer.

I'm going to paint something nice on his box in the meantime, so I feel better about him just... sitting in a box.

Hamilton was cancelled in August.
Most likely not going to Costa Rica in July
Skipping WDW in September.

We are currently at our lake house but the dock isn't in yet. It will be put in later this month but MD has prohibited recreational boating so we wont' be able to do that anyway. We can go sit on it with fishing poles though. lol

I'm going to miss going down to Wildwood, NJ for Memorial Day and weekends all Summer. Yes, I know the Wildwood Boardwalk and beaches are opening up again very soon. But I think it's TOO soon, especially since NJ is brimming over with COVID cases and deaths. Even with a mask, you won't see me there this Summer. I will stay close to home this year.

You’re going to miss the shoobies and Canadians?

You can be in a boat if you are fishing. Or..."fishing". If you are on your boat w/ fishing tackle you are good- at least that is my understanding.
I haven't been, but both kids, a family friend and my husband have been out fishing at various times.

We have a week planned with whole extended family at a beach house in myrtle beach (we do this every summer) this summer that I’m sure won’t happen. Already had a trip to France cancelled so hoping our late November Disney trip still happens or I’ll be 0 for 3 for vacations this year. Also going to be missing huge July 4th party, the zoo, Hershey Park and Kings Dominion, multiple visits to DC museums and all kinds of other summer activities. Going to be a loooong summer.

That one is officially canceled now. Gospel Fest and Blues Fest are also officially canceled.

I saw that. Pretty daunting is an understatement. We are losing so much :( .

It can be pretty daunting to think about the future of live music right now, but know that we are fully committed to bringing Pitchfork Music Festival back in 2021 if the public health situation allows for it,” organizers said in a statement.

We may try that next month. (I think we have some fishing gear in the shed.) DBF is still recovering from his shoulder replacement and it's currently 36 outside so I'm in no rush. Of course, once its gets warm out my tune may change. I just *HATE* covering the boat, especially since I will have to do it alone.

Probably Dierks Bentley in July
Hopefully not our Mackinaw City trip in August but that's a BIG we'll see. (which my Mom always meant no when she said those words)

And of course I will miss all our summer outings to and from our sons and our grandbabies.

DW and I were doing a Florida vacation in late May with a day trip to WDW. Rescheduled for next year.

We were also going to Japan in August. Nothing purchased yet, my guess is it won't be happening.

On a smaller scale: we love to go to our local farmers market in the summer and spend the morning having breakfast and shopping. Not happening now, at least for the foreseeable future. The market only allows one person/household and is under much tighter controls than before.

Going to miss going to our local minor league baseball team.

Haven't seen my brother, sister and their families since Christmas, and I miss them.

We miss our church.

We're already missing our visits to our local safari park as well as walks along the canal.

We had tickets to see Les Miserable in June (just got the cancellation email today), Heathers The Musical in July (unlikely to go ahead) and Celine Dion in September.

We also have a trip to Boston booked for September which I can't see going ahead.

DW and I volunteer on our towns fireworks committee-planning, fundraising and putting on the fireworks in July. That was recently cancelled, so money will go towards next years show. We also volunteer at a PGATour tournament near us,
that's mid August so not sure what will happen with that. Then there was that Disney trip that should have happened this week......

Oh goodness. I'm going to miss Oriole's baseball! They'd have lost 30 games by now! lol

And I really wanted to take DGS to the zoo again and the aquarium. I love taking him places. <3

It's too hot here to do much outside, and as things open up we'll probably start getting together with friends. Even the beaches are starting to open up, so that's an option for a day trip. I miss hanging out with my mom. She's so high risk IDK when that will be safe. I think the only other thing I'll really miss this summer is our trips to DL and out of state we had to cancel.
