The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Bought a waffle maker for the MH a few weeks ago and decided to try it out for Mothers Day.

There not TE quality but still tasty. It is a double flip waffle maker that makes 6 waffles at a time.

thanks Gloria. Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the other moms.

mallory is actually doing pretty good. She has been spunky and interactive. She has a bit of a skin infection on her tail but it’s clearing up. Other than that she is quite demanding of my time. We played a lot last night while watching Black Panther.

We met with the realtor yesterday. My folks signed the contract so my brother’s condo should be on the market by the end of the week. I have a bunch of paperwork to do today on the estate.

next I need to drag myself out of the chair and go grocery shopping. I did not feel like I ran hard this morning but man I am tired after my run and legs feel a bit throttled.

So following is a post I put on cruise forum (the upshot after below is that I was supposed to cruise in August... and still may.... but I have a camping back up plan in case... half a week visiting Gettysburg and then half a week somewhere else upstate NY or northern New England...)

Took the plunge and paid in full today (our PIF date for August 8 Fantasy). Figure the following are possibilities.

A) Disney cancels cruise and gives 125% to future booking (we made ressie for same cruise next year).

B) Disney cancels but no longer gives that much of a cancellation compensation, but at minimum you get your money 100% refunded.

C) Disney sails the cruise, but with so many reductions in what you can do that I would call and cancel and request full refund because of the totally changed experience (Does Disney HAVE to give you 100% back after pay in full... no, of course not... and it is quite clear in their policies about how much is refunded beyond certain dates... HOWEVER... MY opinion is that Disney would not refuse a full refund for later cancellations at this time based on the current situation even though they are well within their right not to refund 100%).

D) The cruise goes with only minimal modifications while keeping (somehow) kids clubs, pools/slides, and shows relatively easily accessible. I think we can all live with served to us buffets. We would likely go in this case.

My GUT feeling (which may be completely wrong) is that I don’t know how Disney will be able to sail in August AND keep the experience at some sort of level that meets expectations of A DCL cruise. However, maybe they will somehow be able to surprise us. I booked next August as back up, I can easily fill this week this year with another sort of vacation, and I (in my opinion) think I can get at least a 100% refund on my cruise price at any point before departure under current circumstances... we’ll see....

You end up coming down to Gettysburg, let us know, we are not that far away.

I can make a decision to buy an RV or a car easier than I can a lawn mower. Seriously, a friggen lawn mower.

Something good for 1 acre is expensive, and the low end models are still over 1k. My neighbor bought a hot rod lawn tractor and is already in the shop. I want something that will last, but I keep getting torn between a mid grade zero turn or a used commercial grade unit. The more I research I do the less I can make a decision. I think I am at the point of going to look at a used commercial unit for around 2k tomorrow. If I dont like it, ill spend the money on the mid grade 'prosumer' model brand new.

So back in Feb, I had a Dr appt and found out I was type 2 diabetic but Dr had hope for me. Well this past Friday I met with Dr again. And while I am not quite there completely, he was very pleased with what I have accomplished. Weight down 25lbs, and A1C down 2 percent in 90 days. He has kept me on meds for the next 90 days and he wants me to continue to do what I am and see if by then I can come off the meds.

That's fantastic! Congratulations!

That's great! It's a lot of hard work, but well worth it. Keep thinking long term!

:cool2: Headed back to Gulf State Park in 11 days. Weather forecast A-O-K. Ready for them darn yella flies if they are present.

Don't plan to do a TR. Want to enjoy DD and DW company and maybe sleep in on the cloudy mornings.

But puzzles ...... :thumbsup2

Bama Ed

PS - taking DD21 it looks like. Her birthday while we are down there...... Calls for a visit to Scoops on Hwy 59 in GS if they are open.

in other Disney news, today was registration for Marathon Weekend. It was well anticipated that the number of bibs at the moment were cut drastically. Everything sold out in 1.5 hours.

I did not sign up. Too many unknowns for me to want to do it. My hope is in another few months we will know a lot more and if races can be held then I am hoping Disney will release more bibs. At the moment just a little sad as it would be my 15th straight years of Marathon Weekend.

i know not signing up now is the right decision and if things are ok and I am still shut out. I might still go to cheer on friends.

Kris saw that announcement earlier and wondered if you and Bert had gotten in and if we will get to see you in January The Good Lord willing. Like you we are keeping our options open. Making our plans but with a wary eye on how things progress

@team bradfield How did you ever get the pupper not to go crazy?!?!? The pool looks amazing! I bet youll really enjoy that soon enough.

I did finally figure out what to do about a mower. I was back and forth for a while on new vs. used, then I found a screaming deal on a used 2012 exmark. It has been repowered with a briggs over the stock kawasaki. But I got to for 1400 and its in great shape. Still way less then 3-4k new, and I could even afford to put a motor on it back to a kawasaki for that much. Though I am trying to avoid that for now. There are some things that need to be fixed and I am slowly ordering parts to fix how bad they did with the job. But even with maybe 300 total in parts including everything to fix the wiring disaster, tune up the motor, service the hydros (filters, fluids) and replace the blades I still have a screaming deal.

The first think I plan to do is clean it up with the pressure washer and tune it up for its first full cut of the lawn.

Lots of progress made on the shelves too. All that is left at this point is to finish securing it to the wall, trim work, paint and then cut more shelves which we have the extra stock in the garage. Melissa is already talking about next projects, I guess I am doing a good job based on that response.

And last our puppy Ellie is just growing and growing. She is a sweetheart though even after all the puppy crazies from her!

House breaking is going well most of the time. She asks to go out, but sometimes just stops and goes. We have pretty good consistency with peering outside, now if we could get her to mostly poop out there too it would be grand! I am hopeful as restrictions are lifted and we continue to gain knowledge of this virus that I can find some form of training for the family with Ellie as I think it would help if the kids heard it from someone other than me. So far we are doing well and she even walks on a leash pretty well for a minpin. Its just getting her to listen more which will happen with time and maturity too.

We still have our reservation for first weekend of June in Hershey. Right now it may just be a trip with friends as I dont know if the park will be open and if it is will we want to go in. The change of scenery might be nice though.....

Great day (about 80 today!) for boys playing baseball, playing ball with the dog, and getting new camper ready for its inaugural trip next weekend... AE8D51D9-F0DF-4D3C-AF39-62F68754D199.jpeg

Also checked with Jayco about the capability of bumper on my model... and since I no longer have Tahoe with luggage racks for roof mounting....

Which bike rack did you go with? Originally I bought one from Wal Mart and it only lasted one trip. Bent heavily. I ended up with a Swagman RV approved 4 bike rack for mine. Very impressed with it so far.

Mine however is different as mine attached to the receiver hitch. I see yours attached to storage tube. Was just wondering what they told you.
