Anyone worried about boarding the plane - temperature check?

Hi,
I'm due to get married this Oct and am still hoping to fly out on the 1st from the UK.

Unfortunately I've just spoken to virgin Atlantic who have said if a temperature is above 100.4 then you will be declined boarding (which is fair enough as we don't want the virus passing although I'd be distraught). I asked about rebooking and then said this would be an automatic cancel with no rebooking, I would just lose my money.

Now nothing has officially been posted by VA so I'm praying it's just wrong information but it has not got me thinking - is anyone else worries about not being able to board due to having a temperature?

Hey there,
With everything going on right now, it's too early to worry about what's going to happen 5 months from now. These procedures can change a dozen times before it's October. Who knows, by then there is a treatment or even a vaccin. Don't spend your energy on something that is so uncertain now. MidSeptember is early enough for that.

Start taking your temperature yourself, some people have a lower body temperature than what is considered normal, so maybe you are lucky anyway :) And unofficial advice, there are medications that can surpress a fever.

Final point: Several airlines are already taking temperatures on request of the countries they are flying to. I think some Asian countries are on this list. If the US requests this, it will be for all airlines.

I think, but I may be wrong, that if you have a temperature of 100.4F/38C you actually feel physicallly unwell...hot, shivery etc. The worst would be being fit and well at the airport(s), pick up a bug on the aeroplane and then fail the temperature test at the parks, but then, we ran the risk of being unwell at WDW even before Covid. The only real difference is a third party possibly telling us to isolate, rest and get better. It will be interesting to read how insurers will address people being turned away at airports.
With your October wedding I think that the best you can do in order to prepare, is to be as healthy as you possibly can, eat well, sleep well, exercise, get lots of fresh air etc and stop worrying. Worrying, I think, without any scientific evidence whatsoever 😉, makes one more prone to illnesses and you don’t want frown lines in those wedding photographs.

Thank you so much - you have certainly brought a smile to my face this morning and you're absolutely right.

Thank you so much. I think I just need to try and relax & just see what happens in the next couple of month ☺️

You can't relax! You are a bride, you need to worry about your table settings, and all your DIY and whether the colour of the flowers will match the napkins! :P

Don't worry about it, whatever happens, the most important is getting married and start your married life with your S.O, you will be a beautiful bride and ten years from now you will have all forgotten about all the stress you are going through now :)
