Days with Donald May 2020 Exercise Challenge

A magnificent spring day here, following a good taste of high summer yesterday. So, out to the garden ( as if there's anywhere else to go ). Now, I'm moving plants, making a new herb bed, and putting in annuals. That was a solid 2 hours today! The irises are so close to popping - I can't wait to share a picture! I counted 70 flower stalks the other day - it'll be a good show this year.
Adding 120 minutes! ( 410/600)
@sophy1996 - loved that video!!!!! Got a good chuckle at the end, too!
@bwvBound - I can't imagine a horse with a gloppy nose 🥴

Team total is 7,148 and 48%. Only 355 minutes to team purple!! - If we can make that today, we're right on track for goal. :cheer2:
Let's see if I can help by catching up a bit ...

Wed, 5/13: 162 minutes
Thurs, 5/14: 168 minutes
Fri, 5/15: 144 minutes << How is it we are mid-May already???
Totals through 5/15: 2448/3500 minutes

Thank you, all, for the kind comments and emoticons concerning the runny-nose horse. I'm happy to report his nose has cleared; perhaps simply response to wide temperature swings in the spring weather.

This will be mostly a routine spring visit with some digging around on recent symptoms of aging for the big Sr. I requested bloodwork so I've been getting him ready for the blood draw and vaccinations by pretending to use a syringe along his neck in key places. (That is, the syringe is real ... but has no needle. I'm going through all the normal steps of washing the area, flexing the neck towards me, pinching the skin and touching him with the syringe while I squirt some water on his skin from the syringe ... preparing him but without any painful consequences to connect with the pattern. Oh, yes, he gets a cookie at the end ... so trying to connect reward with the pattern.) Of my three, he is the most difficult concerning needles and my largest ... so I'll work to build-up his confidence before the vet arrives. These are the joys of maintaining off-track race horses who come with lots of emotion, lots of patterns in their brains from past experiences, and a good share of injuries. (I didn't breed them; I didn't race them; I've made no profit from them other than the skills and empathy they've developed in me.)

Only 20 minutes to report today - the herb bed is in! But, tonight I saw rabbits in the yard - haven't seen any for years! A neighbor used to feed the feral cats so we didn't see the bunnies - now I worry about what they're going to eat - cilantro? dill?
(430/600).

Best wishes with the herb bed! One sage neighbor (see what I did there?) once told us: "Yep, the rabbits eat anything and everything. Your best bet: bring home the plant from the store and simply set it in the driveway overnight. If it is still there the next morning, you are good to go. If not, give up on that plant species immediately."

FWIW, we feed feral cats and have 5 of them on the property. They are hard working cats and, yet, we still have rabbits ... hundreds of rabbits. Both the cotton tail and the gigantic jack rabbits. I now see the story of Peter Cottontail differently than I had as a child. ;-)

125 minutes - walking and a hike that got cut short

2060/2200

So yesterday it was supposed to storm at any moment, but it just wasn't happening. This went on for several hours. We finally decided to not wait around any longer, packed up for a picnic, and went to the lake. We made it through our meal without incident, and then decided to hike around the lake. Partway through the hike, the storm finally hit. Hard, cold rain, thunder, lightning, wind - the whole deal. So, we turned around and headed back. I'm pretty sure our speed picked up significantly on the way back! : ) I think mother nature has a sense of humor. At least it made for a memorable outing.

You know it stormed only because you finally went out, right? :) Never would have happened if you had stayed at home.

20-minute walk

Mon, 5/18: 148 minutes
Totals through 5/18: 2888/3500 minutes

Mostly normal horsey stuff and minor yard work. Looking forward to vet's visit tomorrow. The big Sr was in fine shape in the morning but had welts along the spine by evening. He has a history of allergic reactions but these welts were huge! I checked and monitored vitals and was very comforted that he was good spirits. The welts were still present but much reduced this morning. I'm wondering what he got into ... horses ... it is always something.

20 minutes for me yesterday,

and a bunch of color changes today!! :rainbow::rainbow: - Congrats to DRussell88, bwvBound, Twilight Sparkle, and ljcrochet (who jumped right from orange to red!!)

Team totals are a whopping 9,180/13,145! :cheer2::cheer2:

(The bottom number changed because I took out the goal for DisLiss, as I hadn't seen that poster since sign-up and checked on them. Nothing is wrong - just busy and will possibly join us next month instead.)

That puts us at 70%, with only 679 minutes to go to team pink! :cheer2::cheer2:

Moving on with Donald and....Daisy??

Did you know that Daisy wasn't Donald's first love interest? ~
