Is it worth it to upgrade to a lake view villa from a standard villa? We are staying on DVC points. What is the feasibility of getting a lake view villa in Moorea and actually seeing the MK fireworks from the room?
I often stay 1st floor of Hawaii building, yes the bungalows block some but the higher ones are easy to see. It’s awesome to have your patio/balcony and just not deal with crowds! Love it!

@MM0422 I got to chat with @GADisneyDad14 one of those NYE trips. Agree , great fun! Those fireworks 🤩

Dh and I also walked over to gf. The lobby was hopping! They had 2 pop up bars with fun drinks with lighted ice cubes etc.

Lots of people all dressed up headed out to dinner etc.

They used to do a balloon drop but 2018/19 they did nt do it.

Since we have to work 12/31 DH and I are arriving early 1/1. It’s still fun that weekend with all the holiday decor :)

In my opinion there are 2 reasons to book lake view. First off, yes you can definitely see the fireworks from the upper floors. As others have suggested, Touring Plans has pictures from specific rooms. Second, and probably what I found best, was that Moorea is closest to the TTC. I underestimated the time savings that this would be when I booked lake view. Its actually just as close to security check at TTC as it is to the check at Great Ceremonial House.

You will read some reviews that say the lake view villas (especially those on the TTC end of the longhouse) suffer from the loud horns from the ferry docking. We were there July if 2019 and stayed third floor in the room closest to the TTC and did not find it to be as big an issue as others had claimed.

It depends on how Much you want the view. We stayed in Tokelau in a standard view. It was on the second floor and faced the quiet pool and honestly was nothing special. That being said, I wouldn’t pay a lot extra for a view. Tokelau was nice because it was between the main building and the TTC. Moorea has the free DVC laundry room but it seemed full every time I went there. I ended up using the regular resort laundry room. I had to pay but didn’t have to wait for a machine.

I can’t tell you from my own knowledge having only stayed in Tokelau but, most of what I have read on other people’s responses says if you are in a Lake View higher room, yes, you can see the fireworks. Some views might be obstructed by the bungalows but still probably see most of it. There is a website people actually post pictures of their views from various resorts. If you do a search of Disney resort room views, you should Be able to find it.

Thank you! I was able to find resort room views. We ended up booking the Lake View since we had the flexibility to do so.

That sounds like so much fun!! We will be there for Marathon Weekend, so there may be some Christmas decor left, not sure!

Saving time getting to the TTC is key for this rope dropper! :P I did read that the horns can be an issue, but I am often Disney tired enough that I sleep soundly through most noises.

When we stayed at BCV last August we found laundry to be difficult to utilize due to availability. We had to come back mid day and sit and WAIT for a washing machine. And I totally want the view - and maybe I won't be blown away, and then we will book standard next time! Thanks!

Thanks so much - I appreciate it. Now, the question is....will there be fireworks by then to justify spending the points on a bungalow to not only celebrate NYE, but also a 40th bday?! Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Thanks again and have a great day!

Hi guys happy to be joining you. We have rescheduled my DD’s college graduation trip for the 4th time and upgraded to CL :woohoo:
For anyone that’s stayed there recently could you tell me some of the evening food offerings? Thanks so much.

Hey guys! I just rescheduled our 4th of July trip to August, and I was so happy Poly popped up!! I’ve been wanting to go back, and actually celebrated by listening to my favorite Poly ‘loop’ song (that you hear out by the pools.) Several times 😳 😆 Happy to be back on this board.

There are some pics in the CL thread from not too long ago. I would just caution to temper your expectations and not put too much stock in what was previously offered. Going forward CL will likely look very different than what has been done in the past and there is still a lot we don't know.

Welcome back!! I ended up canceling my July 4th Poly trip also but didn't reschedule, I just added that money to the 2021 trip fund since we're blowing it out lol. Have fun with the planning and thanks for the lovely music! It makes me smell the lobby and feel like I'm there!!

We stayed in the Tokelau building last September. I requested a standard view, upper floor at the end of the building (closer to the water) as I had read that this was an optimal "lake view-ish" area. The request was sent in via fax. It was perfect and saved us quite a few points! This was the view from our balcony. We will be back September 4th this year and I plan to make the same request.

I don’t blame you - at least you can focus on one trip and get excited about it!! I definitely feel more optimistic about August than I did for June/July, but obviously there are no guarantees. I’m happy you liked the song!! I heard it our first day at Poly two years ago and I thought it was catchy 😆 Enjoy your planning, it will definitely be a fun trip!!!!

We've got our FIRST Poly stay scheduled for the first week in August...............we're so excited yet so nervous  Fingers crossed for us both :thumbsup2

Last week, we decided to cancel our July trip. It's sort of bittersweet...obviously, any chance to get to WDW is a good thing and I was excited to go, but the July trip was sort of thrown together at the suggestion of DH and not my original plan. So, now the plan is February 2021 and after a lot of deliberation with family and friends as well as a TON of video watching, we decided on a studio at the Poly with a standard view. I've only stayed in regular rooms at the Poly in the past with a standard view. Our last standard view (below) was actually kind of nice with all of the foliage and monorail view. It's been 6 years since our last Poly stay, but I think my room requests involved a 3rd floor room and either a longhouse or location request (can't recall if it was near GCH or if I specifically asked for Rarotonga).

I plan to request top floor, but I wasn't sure what else I should be requesting. I see pros and cons with all of the longhouse locations so I figured it might be better to ask those who have stayed in the studios for their thoughts on requests for a standard view. Not sure if this matters or not, but it's not a DVC reservation. Thanks! :)

We really enjoyed Tokelau. Its centrally located and right next to the Oasis pool, which has a mug refill station and the delicious pool bar for easy access to drinks and food. It's also an easy walk to either GCH for monorail, the bus stop, and TTC for monorail to Epcot. We have stayed there twice, once on a Disney reservation and once renting points. The benefit of a Disney reservation is of course the daily mousekeeping. We love the studio layout!

We are thinking of splurging for the Poly in early December 2021 for my boyfriend's 50th birthday. He has never really been to WDW (half day in Magic Kingdom) and I last went in 2016 where my ex and I did a split stay between the CBR and GF. I am wondering how the standard view rooms compare to the standard view rooms at the GF or if people recommend getting at least the pool/lagoon view rooms?

The good news is you'd be hard pressed to find a bad view at the Poly. Standard does technically look at the parking lot but they do such an excellent job landscaping that it's hard to tell, and if you're on the 3rd floor it's more of a Monorail View than anything! We stayed Standard in the Rarotonga longhouse a couple of years back and we loved to sit on the balcony watching the monorails zip by.

Thanks! Tokelau looked like a good spot when I was going over the map, but first hand experience opinions are always better. Closer to a good pool bar also makes it a winner :D

The Poly is amazing, you will love it!! I hope everything works out for August :wizard:.

I love Poly!!!I love the atmosphere and honestly just being there!!

Me too! I think the Poly is a beautiful, relaxing resort :cloud9:.

Sorry you cancelled, but glad you were able to reschedule. Enjoy the planning :).

I agree :thumbsup2

I am so excited. Just booked Poly for 4 nights for WDW 50th anniversary 10/1/21. I haven't stayed at the resort since 2009 so I'm very excited. We always stop in for a snack/drink @ Tambu. I love the Poly. Cant wait!!!

How exciting!! We're booked for the anniversary weekend as well, but at the CR. My first trip to the Poly was 2007 and while my next Poly stay wasn't until 2018, I found the resort just as amazing as it was before! Hope you have a great return trip :goodvibes.
