The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Mine however is different as mine attached to the receiver hitch. I see yours attached to storage tube. Was just wondering what they told you.

I would have to look at rack again to remember make (I have had it for about 18 years...got it for us before we were married)... I think it is Xsport maybe? It is solid! Only 2 bikes (obviously). I got one of those 2 inch receivers that you mount to the bumper:

Jayco told me limit of 100 pounds. So, the two bikes, rack, receiver and the spare tire/tire mount pretty much finish me up there. Wouldn’t be able to do a 4 biker.. I did buy one (but only to use on back of our vehicles).

It’s interesting that you mentioned getting one specifically RV approved as the 4 bike carrier I got said quite plainly not for use on back of an RV... it was a “cheap” one, price wise, which is both why I looked at it, but why I was thinking there is no way it could be any good. Surprisingly, however, the reviews were quite good, and I am impressed with how solid it actually seems now that I have it. I read reviews on much more expensive racks and they were mixed with people talking about the bending issue a lot. It’s major use for us is a 4 hour drive to and from Cape Cod each summer, so we shall see... otherwise just short local trips to bike trails.8F679ED1-FF27-43EA-BE85-10AA9E87B7A8.jpeg

Its the massive jolting that happens on the rear behind the axle. This is why folks commonly find their clothes no longer hanging up in rear closets after travel.

My outdoor kitchens are no different. I had to learn to not put heavy items on the counter because they bounced everywhere and broke stuff.

We had a great weekend. Melissa sold a bunch of stuff that was just taking up space. We made lots of progress on projects either way! We got the built-ins all secured to the wall and cut most of the shelves.

The deck finally got stained/sealed, though by the time we finished prep the sun was directly on the deck and we had to wait for evening. And by evening we where out of steam. We lucked out with overcast and no rain Sunday and it finally got done. Pickets and post are left to be done, though now able to put our table and stuff back on the deck.

And first cut with the mower was made, it cuts well and runs great after a tune up. Now just need to fix an oil leak and the wiring nightmare they created when they re-powered it with a different motor. Turns out the sump gasket is shot and a new one is on its way.

I really cant complain since I picked it up for 1400 bucks and even a new residential model would run me around 3k. I think right now I am up to 300 in parts so far with the wiring harness replacement being the most expensive. So still a screaming good deal for us.

Massachusetts gov. made decision today that campgrounds would not open until May 25th. So far safe in CT for Memorial Day weekend, but I almost booked in MA... glad I did not... I imagine many will fill in any open spots in CT, NY or wherever else they can find a spot...

Campgrounds are opening here. Some restricted to in state only, others are open to anyone. Right now we are looking at our June trip to PA and thinking we will go through with it just to get out of the house for once. Between then and now we are wondering, what is the right amount of easing back into more face to face times with others.

Great on your trip! As for your question of face to face? Maybe an unfavorable opinion but I'm a big believer of heard immunity. I told my wife this and if I end up with COVID, I'm at peace with it regardless of how it ends up for me. I have been quoting a wise old sage lately, actually from on here. @bama_ed "I want to live before I die" That's how I have lived my life so far, and how will I live it in the future!

I think it's more of what we as a family are comfortable with based on what we really know at this point, plus what the girls father is comfortable with. We have already interface with others in small groups. However, not multiple families at the same time and really not many at higher risk.

Sure, we are healthy and not really in the high risk arena. However, what if we happen to be carrying it and spread it to high risk friends. It is really hard to shrug off when you know its put people in ICU for weeks or in the grave. What is known seems to be contradicted regularly which makes this even more difficult to make any informed decisions when there seems to be so much misinformation out there.

Vince,

I figured they would cancel. Joe and I booked for the week in Pigeon Forge. Come on down and join us there.

Well after nine years of working for the company I’m at now, I am very great full for the new work truck.

2020 Z71 3500 HD diesel with 114 miles.

It was in the shop for a week getting the rack made and bed liner sprayed in. Today they wired in the power inverter put the seat covers on and installed the rack.

Excited that they are opening the trailheads for the AT in Georgia. Bert and I are hoping to hike tomorrow. The weather is not so great so keeping an eye on it. Otherwise it will be trip up Cowrock. Has a great view. Looking forward to doing something. Plus hoping it is not stupid crowded.

Well pouring rain here today, so ran a couple errands. Looking in to possibly a new hitch for the truck, in talks with manufacturer to see what we can do.
Nicer day tomorrow, with someone supposed to be coming to purchase my Hayabusa. Just don't enjoy riding around here as much, too many distracted young and old people.
Also considering an upgrade to the truck headlights, we will see if this sale goes thru first before I spend all the money.

Ok... many campgrounds in CT are open, but activities/social activities are (obviously) curtailed by Covid and the state’s protocols for campgrounds. They follow the small business plan phase 1 for CT along with this specifically for campgrounds:

It is interesting the different interpretation from CG to CG. For some places, they have taken 50% capacity to mean half the sites and blocked them accordingly (not sure how this worked for bookings that are of course made well in advance for Memorial Day), some (like where I am) have gone with half the capacity of people (normal max of 12 guests per site is now 6). Further they have used that blocking of sites to achieve 20 feet between sites. Also, the other campgrounds that I usually frequent in state have completely closed playgrounds based on the “public area” statement in the document. Here, however, the playgrounds are open and the CG owner has published an extensive list of how guests are to comply with all distancing, etc, protocols. Also, the distance from where most people spend time at their camper from one site to the next is at least 20 feet so no need to block sites. In the above document, it says that all public areas other than rest rooms and showers are to be closed. So, I assume (as those example are “indoor” public areas) that here he is interpreting “public areas” to be indoor spaces (store, community hall, etc). All outdoor spaces are open (playgrounds, etc). The following is what CG published as rules to comply. Long.. IF you want to read or skim through.

...I don’t expect everyone to read through all this word for word, but the point is the owner here, while maybe interpreting things differently (with respect to what constitutes a “public space”), he did make sure to have a detailed plan/set of rules as to how to use space which he has opened. So, our boys are our playing in their masks and doing a lot of hand washing while keeping their distance from the other kids. No one seems to be ignoring rules or crowding any equipment. Bottom line, IMO, is that if the virus is going to be around for awhile (and it will be), it will be up to everyone to exercise common sense and use precautions that they feel are necessary to keep themselves or others safe. It is simply not possible to have every minute detail of every business written down to the exact specifics where there is only one way to interpret it. I think he did a great job here. Oh yeah, a few campgrounds are having guests sign Covid statements... not sure what legal good that actually could do, but...
