Any clue on when airlines will resume including meals during domestic first class flights? I just bought American first class tickets for December, and noticed that breakfast was listed as a meal offering for both flights. But I know American isn't serving meals on those flights now due to Covid. Any idea when meal service will resume?

Honestly anything you get here will be speculation. Nobody knows AA makes an official announcement.

I agree with zoo2tycoon. The best thing you can do is keep an eye on the AA website, or call or text them as your date gets closer. This whole thing changes day by day.

Well, as someone said it will be speculation, but I think you can probably expect a pre-packaged breakfast in a bag handed to you when you board.

Last time I had breakfast in first class on American it was oatmeal and fruit. It wouldn't surprise me if you found a bag with cereal, a carton of milk, and some fruit in a cup. I'm pretty sure most are handing out bags to all coach passengers with a bottle of water and pretzels as they board.

Be careful what you wish for. It's been decades since I've had a decent meal on anybody's aircraft!

Not exactly related but I thought I’d share. I had a great steak once but it was probably because I was so hungry. I had non-rev benefits at the time. I used to work really early. It was now night and we were going to Costa Rica. I told my wife, “There’s a very good chance one of us will get first class. There is no chance we’ll both get it.” She told me to take it since I had been up so early. Well, I got it and got steak for dinner. She took one for the team in a middle seat with sandwiches for purchase.

When we landed, I of course got off quickly. She took a while. When I finally saw her I said, “What took you so long to get off? I’ve been waiting here for 20 minutes! And don’t tell me you ordered that $10 sandwich!”

Her goodwill by that time had expired. I can’t remember what was said exactly but she didn’t appreciate my humor.

Lol. I hope you're still married after that. That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry and Elaine are traveling together, and he gets to fly first class, while she is stuck in coach. Her experience in coach is hideous...

Ha. I am. We met in high school so my expected level of maturity was pretty low to begin with. I have actually mentioned that Seinfeld line before. She won't know what she's missing!

Kind of reminds me of flying with my director (last year when we could still travel). As we were boarding, I was just ahead of him, and when I scanned my boarding pass, I got a notification that I had been upgraded (it was a flight from Germany to Cairo which is normally "intra-Europe" business, but this flight was one that uses an "international" plane with lie-flat seats in business). The flight is short (I think about 3.5 hours), so not actually going to use the bed, but still nice to have. I did spend a minute wondering if I was supposed to offer him the upgrade, but, luckily, when he scanned his ticket, he had been upgraded too :)

Even if they make an announcement that they're going to start serving meals tomorrow, what difference does it make for a flight in December? They could announce the day before your trip that they'll stop serving meals again.

If you KNEW tomorrow you weren't going to get a meal on the flight, what would you do differently?

I'm so sorry. I didn't realize that bringing up a travel-related topic that you were wondering about was not acceptable on Disboards. How helpful and welcoming for you to put me in my place.
I never said it wasn't acceptable. I didn't realize asking follow up questions "wasn't acceptable". What would you do differently? I'm sorry if asking that somehow offended you.

I'm so sorry. I'm new here, and didn't realize that bringing up a travel-related topic that you were wondering about was not acceptable on Disboards. How helpful and welcoming for you to put me in my place, and to change the tone of this thread from peaceful and curious to hostile and mocking. Way to go.
I think he was trying to be helpful and not mocking you. The whole point is nobody knows and it’s speculation. Your best bet is to call the airline. My son flew first class United in March and got a meal. Flew basic economy last week on AA and they offered him a sack snack bag and he declined no drinks. Calling people out for trying to assist isn’t nice either. It does go both ways and several people have said you need to call and nobody knows what things will be. What did American say when you called and asked?

The OP did mention being new to disboards. Perhaps they don't know how it works yet. Pretty simple.
Except by reading the thread, they could see the quotes. It's pretty much the same at every message board. It reeks of "I'm taking my ball and going home." or "I'm not getting the responses I want."
