Here's your friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur one week from today on THURSDAY, May 28th!. For those planning to snag flights, set those calendar reminders so you don't forget!
  • Currently SW is offering flights through 10/30/20 and this next release will take their schedule out to 1/4/21. This release will obviously cover the major holidays and prices may increase quickly for popular dates (although who knows what this release will look like in our COVID-19 landscape) . I'll try to post additional reminders as the date draws nearer.
For those that care about "release timing" it's been all over the board recently (all times Eastern):
  • The release on 3/12/20 went live at 9:40am.
  • The release on 12/11/19 went live at 9:10am.
  • The release on 10/30/19 went live at 7:15am.
  • The release on 9/26/19 went live at 7:30am.
  • The release on 8/15/19 went live at 10:41am.
  • The release on 5/30/19 went live at 9:20am.
I guess I'll book tickets to see my parents right after Christmas and hope for the best.

I have tickets to Seattle with EBCI that I probably need to cancel. Isn't there a way to apply the EBCIs to a new flight?

I found the rebate form on slickdeals site so I filled it out. Not sure if that will work or not.

Oh good! I misunderstood I think!
I think that was my fault:) So I opened the account through the link logged in to slickdeals. Once I was approved I went back to SD and submitted the rebate form. Then SD sent me a confirmation email.

In other news, Universal submitted a reopening for June 5 plan to Florida today.

I feel really dense today. My question is more what did that confirmation actually say? I thought it was weird my email from SD just listed my SD name and Paypal email and said nothing else at all.

Yes, that's all mine said too.

And yay on Universal. Florida seems to be in decent shape and hopefully the heat and humidity help.

You do have to fund the account with at least $1 to open it. Right now mine is saying pending based on verification of trial deposits into my funding account. I hope everything goes smoothly. I haven't done many of these.

Same here. Waiting for trial deposits. This was an easy one!

Yay! Looks like we will have something to do when we head to Orlando on 6/4-8! Thank you Universal for opening 6/5 (or maybe 6/4 if we get in an invited guest invite.) We are so tired of quarantining! I need celebrate this year of h***with private school and all of our canceled plans. DS has 4 more days to get through! The finish line is in sight!

Melio (new bill pay service like Plastiq but business only) is allowing the first $2,500 to be paid FEE FREE until the end of this month. I submitted an estimated tax payment. It looks like it went through ok on Melio's end, but I don't see a pending charge yet. I paid with my Hyatt Visa. Crossing fingers!

be aware, they may ask you for proof or nature of your business.

SW changed our flights again. Rebooking and choices include SMF or OAK with 55 minute layovers. Those of you familiar with both, would one be better than the other for a short layover?

The spend is no problem but I didn't see much to make it worth the higher fee. Surpass gets a free night after $15k spend, which is reasonable for us. Don't think we would make the $60k spend to get a second free night on Aspire. The lounge perks might be good in a couple years when we start flying international again. That $250 credit is not for the actual flights, right? We don't usually have many incidental charges.

You can still get one of each card right? Any reason to go in a particular order?
The Aspire gets you free breakfast at all Hilton hotels,12X points on Hilton stays, the FNC and $250.00 resort credit (which can be used towards restaurants effective June 1st). If you can use those benefits to justify the AF then it's worth it. I used it to book 7 nights at the Conrad Maldives in an over water bungalow next April (5 nights points and 2 FNCs). Cash cost would be $1,140.00 / night and we will also get free breakfast, which is worth around $50.00 pp at that property. This card is a keeper for me. I had dh's CFO use my Aspire to pay for hotel rooms for his staff for his annual holiday party in 2019 and with the "organizer" points and 12X points for the rooms I had enough points for 5 nights at the WA Calendonian in Edinburgh. Depending on your needs and usage this card could be very valuable. I've also really come to love Hilton hotels and as a diamond member you have a dedicated phone number and the CSRs I've spoken with are incredibly nice and very helpful. Tagging @calypso726 since she also gets great mileage out of the Aspire.

Chiming in since I was tagged. Yes, the Aspire card is one that we get great value from. So much so that DH and I are both hoping to get an upgrade offer to a second Aspire each from our Hilton no fee cards. So, let's eliminate the $250 airline credit on the Aspire since @DisMommyTX states it's not something they will use. That leaves us with Diamond status which can be worth upgrades and free breakfasts at a number of properties. In places like Iceland where food is very expensive, an upgrade to Club level will help cover much of your food. Diamond members staying at the Conrad Rangali in the Maldives also get free breakfast, afternoon tea and a welcome basket. Maldives food is also ridiculous. The card has the FN cert and a $250 resort credit. Between those two alone the fee is covered by the value you can get get between the FN cert and the resort credit. I consider the $450 AF as part of the vacation budget as it is realistic to think I would spend at least that much on hotel reservations in a year.

Now, I understand that the Surpass gets you the FN for spending $15k on the card. My Aspire card sits in a drawer. I have no problem with the spend, it's just that I wouldn't make the effort to do that spend on the Aspire or any other hotel branded card when I can put my spend to better use. I'd rather spend $15k with my Ink Plus on gift cards at an office supply store at 5x and get 75,000 UR points which are worth $1125 on the CSR UR portal. If we are looking at $250 per night Hilton properties as an example, then that $15k spending just bought me 4 nights instead of 1 for the same spend. Now, I'm not judging what anyone else does. I just thought I'd lay out point of view on the card and spending in general. I hope this helps :flower3:

@*WDW*Groupie* - Now you've put the WA Caledonian on the list! Edinburgh is my favorite city and I usually resort to Radisson Blu properties there.

Nothing at all to do with credit cards, except I found the promotion on Doctor of Credit. JetBlue was giving away a bunch of tickets to health care workers. I nominated my daughter, a physical therapist who volunteered to work with Covid19 patients, and she won! Two round trip tickets. Very happy for her, as I could tell she has been extra stressed and anxious these past few weeks.
