News Round Up 2020

Wow June 5th. That is real soon.
I wonder if this means they will open the parks before the resorts. Seem to make sense to open the parks to drive-up traffic only (essentially locals) as that would essentially filter guests through a single choke point and not have to worry about transportation.

I guess I could see Disney just opening up the parks and keeping the resorts closed until July. No worries about social distancing (all but impossible) on Magic Express, Skyliner, buses, etc. No running the monorail (just use the boat to get to the MK).
Would stink for those of us with June resort reservations, but does mean the parks would be open sooner than later for locals and all those vloggers. :)

NOAA has had the Atlantic hurricane season at above normal (or near normal) since 2016. I actually had to look when the last time they predicted normal or below normal (It was 2015). It’s almost like they have to predict above normal to get people to prepare.

I was watching the weather channel yesterday or the day before and I believe they said this is something like the 6th straight year where named storms have formed before the official start of the Atlantic season. Eventually I'm wondering if they'll want to look at adjusting that if enough years go by with it happening before then (and occurring not just by a few days).

But there have also been slightly higher than average named storms and hurricanes every year since 2015. Not huge amounts but they’ve been up from 2015.

Yawn. This gets published every year but I never see a report at the end of the seas on as to how accurate it is. The actual incidence of a hurricane hitting the WDW area is pretty low. Yes, I know it has happened. Don't recall if that was a particularly busy season or not.

As @skeeter31 suggests above, I believe this is really intended to get people to prepare for one. This weekend is the FL emergency preparedness sales tax holiday weekend IIRC.
