Your favorite dog breed and why...

I have a pain in the … butt. 😂 She’s Great Pyrenees/Aussie Shepard/Lab mix. Incredibly smart, highly trainable but those smarts make her think she can get away with “forgetting” her training. We joke that she’s actually a cat in a dog’s body. Love her to death but she’s exhausting.

The best dog I ever had, hands down was a black lab. When it comes to smart, good natured, family friendly, Labs/Retrievers can’t be beat. If (a big “if”) I were ever to get another dog it would be a Lab or Labradoodle.

Growing up I had a schnauzer terrier mix who acted like a little nanny. She rocked the cradle when my sister was a baby (so my mom says), kept that sister from dumping me out from the same cradle when I was a baby, etc. She was such a sweet dog.

The dog I have now is a border collie and we think there is a little spaniel in the mix. She is a huge cuddler, a goofball for squirrels, and when my husband and I kiss, she always wags her tail. We say to her, Bella loves love.

We have two Norwegian Elkhound mixes and love them. Definitely not for people who want an obedient dog, though. Elke is very smart, but she doesn't care at all what you want her to do (unless you're holding food). Dexter (half border collie) is more likely to try to please us, but he also only learns what he wants to learn. They're both very stubborn when they want to be.

Well, I have a mutt. Her breed is Boxer, American Pit Bull, Labrador Retriever, and Mountain Cur, in that order. She has been the nicest, most compliant dog I have owned out of 6 previous dogs. I can't get over how sweet and docile she is. Smart too and happy.

Right now I am dog-sitting my son's Golden Retriever. It's 8 months old and while I love her and she's nice, overall, I'm not a fan.

We had a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Daisy, and she was the most polite, well-tempered dog--perfect for our family. Our youngest was only 2 when we got her. Often, I would find our daughter using Daisy as a pillow, and Daisy let her lay for as long as she liked. As our family grew and our youngest became old enough to babysit, I loved knowing that Daisy was there. She was a great sense of security with her size and powerful bark or "baroo." She was a perfect lady, and I hated saying good-bye.

I wanted another Swissy but an opportunity arose a couple of months ago for us to get a Bernese Mountain Dog. My oh my! He's absolutely adorable but has the total opposite of Daisy's personality. I laugh and tell my girls that he's the hyperactive younger brother they never had. He's named "Sam" after Samwise Gamgee in "The Lord of the Rings." At 5-months-old he's got a ways to go, but he really has great family dog potential. He's eager to please, affectionate, and finally getting the house-training thing down. I don't doubt he'll be as loyal to us as Sam was to Frodo. Heaven help me through the puppy phase!

Greater Swiss or Bernese, I just love the Mountain Dogs for our family.

I have a mutt and he's the best. Half shiba half German shepherd. He's a wonderful companion now, VERY excitable in his youth. Also had some trouble as canine epilepsy runs in shiba lines and manifests at about age 2-3 so seizures started happening at about that time. He's made it to age 13 though! A grumpy borker now. Mutts are my fave, just wish there weren't so many backyard breeders keeping major genetic issues from being bred out.

English bulldog. We had one growing up and he was a fantastic dog!!! He set the doggy bar high And besides....just look at them. So dern cute! Also the Blue Lacy. Smart, smart dog. My Mom and Dad had one and she rivaled Lassie on the intelligence! When my Dad was sick and not paying too much attention to where he was, stood up outside and hit his head on a tree limb. Of course, he went down. He told Toddy to go get Mom. And that is exactly what Toddy did. Went in and repeatedly went back and forth to the door until my Mom followed her outside. That was just one of many, many things she did.
I have a mutt now. Looks like a giant chihuahua with a blue tongue :)

I rescued our mutt at 4 months, completely housebroken and crate trained. She a minpin Jack russell mix and such a great dog. Not hyper at all, great off leash, and at 9 can still race around the yard and jump super high.

My dog will come and “talk” to me and I’ll say, “What?! Timmy fell down the well?!” My kids were clueless, they have no idea who Lassie is.

Golden retriever! They have a sweet personality and are eager to please. Easy to train. That gorgeous soft hair with the feather duster tail and leg fringes. They are beautiful sitting for a photo but the real beauty shows when they prance. They are always happy and friendly. The perfect companion.

So it's not just me that stares at my golden's fluffy bum on walks right? :rotfl2:

Our personal dogs are a Pitbull, a Jack Russell/Boston Terrier mix and a chihuahua. None of them are perfect, but they are all great in their own ways.

We are also a foster family for a few rescue groups and we have had what seems like every breed, mix, size and age of dog through our home over the years. Every dog is unique and fun, I cannot say one breed is me favorite...but I find pitbulls to be the most loyal, easiest to adapt to changes and have manageable energy levels. We love all dogs though!
