Here's your friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur one week from today on THURSDAY, May 28th!. For those planning to snag flights, set those calendar reminders so you don't forget!
  • Currently SW is offering flights through 10/30/20 and this next release will take their schedule out to 1/4/21. This release will obviously cover the major holidays and prices may increase quickly for popular dates (although who knows what this release will look like in our COVID-19 landscape) . I'll try to post additional reminders as the date draws nearer.
For those that care about "release timing" it's been all over the board recently (all times Eastern):
  • The release on 3/12/20 went live at 9:40am.
  • The release on 12/11/19 went live at 9:10am.
  • The release on 10/30/19 went live at 7:15am.
  • The release on 9/26/19 went live at 7:30am.
  • The release on 8/15/19 went live at 10:41am.
  • The release on 5/30/19 went live at 9:20am.

Uggggghhhhh this is the one I would have been waiting for. I wish I knew if Japan was still happening.

What is the worst that would happen if I got Southwest tickets at a fantastic price during this sale and then we had to cancel our trip? Credit in the amount paid that would have to be used in a year?

Work is far less controlled here. All patients not wearing masks, not all being tested. In fact the highest number of infected nurses seems to be on the non-covid units as I think they aren’t taking as many precautions and then have patients turn up positive (totally anecdotal though). Also had an outbreak in rehab, 5 patients and I think nearly as many staff.
I get it with a 3 year old though. Can’t keep their hands off things and out of their mouths. Plus a mask is probably a struggle too.

I was talking to my daughter yesterday, and she basically said the same thing. None of the staff who work directly with Covid patients have become ill. It’s the others, who only get surgical masks rather than full PPE, who have been infected. It’s been from patients who come in for other reasons, and then later test positive. Well, that’s what they think anyhow. For all anyone knows, it could have been a completely different mode of infection, like in the grocery store.

Side note: in addition to winning the Jetblue tickets yesterday, she also got a free pair of Brooks running shoes!

This is from the SW site: Any travel funds created because you cancel a flight between March 1 – September 7, 2020, will expire September 7, 2022.

If you cancel outside that time frame, worst case is travel funds that have to have travel completed within one year of original purchase.
There is also a feature coming that will allow travel funds to be converted to RR points. No idea when that is going to happen though.

I have to call next week to change flights I had for Softball World Series at the end of September to a couple weeks later and book for my family to get to Denver just before Thanksgiving for my SIL's wedding. To make it even more confusing for the poor agent, each of my sons and my wife have travel funds from a cancelled spring break trip.

see.... this makes me more anxious... it's the not knowing how it transmits the easiest that makes me second guess, well, everything!

I finally got confirmation from DLP this morning that my reservation there has been canceled. Our check in date was to be June 6. Once I see that refund on the C1V, we will finally be officially all squared away with all our May-June Europe trip cancellations. It has taken forever, and I will be so happy when I finally see that last refund. I used the word ‘finally’ 3 times (now 4 I guess!) in this post. I think that sums up my feelings on this matter. :coffee:

We were originally scheduled to stay at RPR at UO over spring break but I changed to June 11-15. Called the resort yesterday after the task force approved the plan and they said if the mayor and gov sign off on the park's reopening that the hotels would open as well.
I'm hoping that with the increased safety measures we'll still get unlimited express passes. I also wonder with limited capacity if resort guests will take precedence. Many unanswered questions.

We're pumped to go. I asked the family if they'd rather wait to go later, and they all answered a resounding NO....My son even said...why would you even ask us that???

Any good reason to keep Alaska sig Visa card? I do have some points on there like 50k or something. I know I get the free companion pass but we usually fly with in the same state and will not be flying anywhere I could see the benefit of paying the $75 AF plus the companion taxes. If I downgrade do I keep the points still?

This describes us for our July wdw trip. I was initially not sure how I felt about it but the more I think about it, I'm actually super excited to go. And yeah, when I asked dh & the kids if they would like me to try to rent out our dvc points and we could just wait and go later when things were more normal, they looked at me like they were questioning my sanity 🤣 They are all super pumped as well!

We have a July WDW trip too, which would have been spread out further from the UO one originally but now we have 2 trips to look forward in the next 2 months!!

There isn't a no fee card you can pc to. You dont have to have the credit card to keep the miles active. However if you fly alaska and will check bags 3 times at 25 per bag that's the af and also only 3 one way flights so if you do 2 round trip and check bags you come out ahead. Or if there's more than one of you on the rez then one rt of two checked bags each way does it.

Otherwise use their shopping portal to keep milea active.

Thanks. we always fly with just a carry on. I think I will PC to the no fee one.

Same here. At least 4 of us are really looking forward to our trip. As it stands, we come home for one night and then head off for an away softball tournament. I'm glad the tourney was rescheduled, but eesh, that's close.

Can someone please direct me to the CSR/CSP MDD thread/discussion/fireside chat on dischurners? I searched MDD and came up empty. Thank you!

wasn't there a no fee one at some point? I have fallen off the credit card wagon but started back up recently so I am sure you guys are correct and there isn't a no fee Alaska card 😂

Never known of one. I think technically they have 2 personal cards, a visa signature and a non sig, but they decide which you get when you applu based on your stats and the cl they want to give I imagine. Both still have the af. You also don't pick which one you apply for I don't think. I imagine if alaska and bofa wanted to do anything they'd add a premier card with a higher af because there are a lot of loyal alaksa people. The $75 af is one of the lowest I'm aware of for any card and you get free bags, priority boarding etc so it's a good value just bad for earning outside the signup bonus.

I do believe waaaay back when, they did offer a no fee card, but that would have been the 1980's or 90's!

Thanks to all for the camera recommendations. I now have a Ring 2 doorbell, floodlight camera, and spotlight camera installed. Really like the app and it's super easy to use. I'm installing the alarm this weekend. All in I spent about $750 including the first year of service.
