I have 3 amex charge cards- one is a super super old blue card that earns MRs- it was a blue for students back in the early 2000s. I wonder if they would just stay there.

DH has no Amex. This really isn’t his thing. He was getting some cip, but honestly I’m backing off for now.
All your MR points will pool into one account. So as long as you have one MR earning card to keep your MR account active, then all your points will just stay there. Shouldn't need to get another card if you're keeping the Blue open.

I had a Blue for Students too until AmEx converted it to an ED card. I didn't think they ever had a charge option for the Blue cards, mine has always been a credit card. So I believe you have at least one of the 4(5?) CC slots taken with that. Just a consideration when working out card options. If you need a slot you don't have to keep the Blue open, just need to make sure you have at least one MR card at all times.

Those with CitiBank accounts, just how bad are they? I have the Costco credit card so I use their interface for that. I am considering opening a checking/savings account with some of the life insurance proceeds. Don't think I can find a better rate on $200k, 60 days, $1500 bonus but I don't need any more headaches in my life right now if they are as horrible as I recall people saying.

Never known of one. I think technically they have 2 personal cards, a visa signature and a non sig, but they decide which you get when you applu based on your stats and the cl they want to give I imagine. Both still have the af. You also don't pick which one you apply for I don't think. I imagine if alaska and bofa wanted to do anything they'd add a premier card with a higher af because there are a lot of loyal alaksa people. The $75 af is one of the lowest I'm aware of for any card and you get free bags, priority boarding etc so it's a good value just bad for earning outside the signup bonus.
Thats what it is. I knew they had two cards just assumed one was a no fee. I love flying Alaska but we dont have any trips planned out of California for at least the next year and a half. Or at least those are the plans to stay local, but we tend to not stick to some vacation plans lol. And I have other cards I earn better bonuses with.

Anyone know when you can reapply for the Alaska card and get the points again?
I do believe waaaay back when, they did offer a no fee card, but that would have been the 1980's or 90's!

Well I wasn't even born yet then so doubt I would remember that lol.

The blue is a credit card. I have 3 amex credit cards currently- convoy, bonvoy biz and the blue. I was keeping the Marriott cards for the free nights and I just payed the AFs back in February before the world explodes, so I’m keeping them for now. I have one more slot. DH is 0/24 and has no amex cards, so I guess he’s a future option.

The blue is my oldest card- from 2000. I signed up for it during college orientation. So it’s helping aaoa I think. And I’m slowing down on the churning currently- I’m 4/24 till November, with no current travel plans. I’m thinking of just doing category spend til all this settles down and we can reassess the reward travel landscape.

we’re supposed to be in Disney right now celebrating our 15th anniversary. :guilty:

crossing my fingers we still get to go in August.

apparently our stay home order just got extended until June 12th, although our “zone” was reopened for retail and restaurants/bars at 50% capacity today. The masses are already headed north to partake in the openings. Sigh.
Had to email frontier about our flight refunds since there’s no way for me to use the credit that I can see (it told me I have one but I don’t see where it’s attached to my account or anything for me to book princess weekend flights with it), and it was actually supposed to get it converted to miles and those haven’t shown up either. So that’ll be fun.

I have done two Citibank bonuses and still have the account open from my most recent one. The only problem I've encountered was when I downgraded my checking account. The csr didn't actually do what I requested and I got a fee the following month. A phone call resolved the issue and the fee was reversed.

Anyone know when you can reapply for

2 years from when you got the last. Used to be very churnable. You can always try for the biz, it's a toss up with bofa as to how easy or not it is to get. Same af, awful interface.

Are you interested in becoming a Chase Private Client (if you are not already)? You can get a $2,000 bonus.

$250k required to get the full $2k bonus.

Our primary accounts were with Citibank for over 10 years, until we moved somewhere that Citibank is not. Now we have TD Bank. Much, MUCH prefer Citibank website/interface, etc. Never any issues with them either in regards to branch visits or needing customer service. We still have our Citibank double cash credit card and I love the app for it.

Pick up Five Guys to use my uber credit for May. I think it's new to pick up or I missed it before. I know McD's allows for pick up now too which is nice. Not a lot of places offer pick up and knowing how little a lot of places get paid from being on these services I try and order from the chains. If I"m going for a local place I'd rather go straight to them so they get all the $.

We have had Citibank checking/savings accounts for 20 years. Only had periodic problems with the website forgetting my login, but they seem to have fixed that - otherwise been pretty happy with them, though our banking demands are low. The Citi Accelerate Savings accounts has been one of the more attractive options for the last 18 months or so.

Well first airport visit in all of this. Security took 15 minutes. Not everyone was wearing masks and a few wearing them wrong. Not nearly enough social distancing. The guy behind me, with no mask, literally bumped me a couple of times with his elbow!!! Lots of people not wearing masks in the gate area either. I think I may just head straight for the back of the plane to keep the number of morons walking by me to a minimum.

Who has flown first or business class lately? How were the amenities compared to what you've experienced in first or business class prior to this?

I am thinking with all the current restrictions I am reading about, the first or business class experience is going to be... not what I had hoped for...

I think the proper term would be “selfish morons”. We flew a few days ago on SW. They made an announcement that you must have a mask on to board. Most of the 20somethings around us took their mask down for the entire flight. The frustrating part is you can only control what you can control.

I had stronger words I just can’t type them here. I didn’t go quite far enough back. They still seated one row behind me. The most obnoxious man and his wife or girlfriend. He talks very loudly and complains a lot. I can’t see but it doesn’t sound like his mask is on.

Hang in there! Have a safe flight!

We were originally scheduled to stay at RPR at UO over spring break but I changed to June 11-15. Called the resort yesterday after the task force approved the plan and they said if the mayor and gov sign off on the park's reopening that the hotels would open as well.
I'm hoping that with the increased safety measures we'll still get unlimited express passes. I also wonder with limited capacity if resort guests will take precedence. Many unanswered questions.

We're pumped to go. I asked the family if they'd rather wait to go later, and they all answered a resounding NO....My son even said...why would you even ask us that???
We’ll just miss you. We are there 6/3-10. We’re excited to attend the AP preview on 6/4 and see what it is like and just get back to the warm sunny. I think I am adding VB to our APs since we have several more trips planned and with the APs being extended it with be worth it for $170.

Which airport are you at? Safe travels!
