Your favorite dog breed and why...

Golden Retrievers! We have had one to three goldens at any given time since 1991. THey are smart, loyal, easy, loving, cuddly, and sweet! All of our goldens have been rescues. Our two year old Gwen came to us in October from Turkey, where she lived chained up in a yard for two years, covered in ticks. She is so forgiving and loving despite her beginnings.

It's my dream to one day have a gaggle of goldens.

I'm so glad that our local rescues are saving goldens from all over the world. Glad to hear Gwen is living the dream here in the US with you.

Best dog we ever had was a black lab. He saved my daughters' lives, multiple times. Twice from vicious, unleashed dogs, once from a herd of very aggressive cattle. If I were to get another dog, as much as I'd like to rescue one, I don't trust anything with pit bull in it. So I'd have to either get DNA testing done first, but I'd most likely get another lab from the same breeder we used before, a family friend.

French Bulldogs! They're such little clowns. My first went to doggie heaven last March (RIP Mulligan) and I hope to bring another one into my life someday.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I didn’t get my first dog until the age of 25. And I’m so sad I went 25 years without these angels at my feet. They’re lovable, smart, cuddly lap dogs that are excellent with children- and want nothing but to be right next to you. I’m so obsessed!

We have always had small dogs, our last was a Shih Tzu who was a wonderful dog. My daughter adopted a greyhound and we have had him for the last 8 months while she is deployed overseas. He is a retired racer and he has the best personality. He loves people and other dogs. He is quite a showstopper and in a neighborhood teeming with dogs everyone knows Myer! We are going to miss him.

I would suggest you hide Myer and give her a replacement dog you claim is Myer. But...since she is returning from deployment I can’t do that in good conscience. :) You lose a great dog but thankfully have your daughter back. Heck, from your description I would like to meet Myer. I enjoyed your post.

I have a pug, sweet, smart, a little tempermental, and very stubborn. I also have a rescue, according to the vet a mix of hound and retriever. She is the sweetest, most gentle dog, who loves everyone. They are both like velcro, but especially the rescue. They both shed A LOT. One of our neighbors has a Cavalier and she is pretty special. We have many breeds amongst our family and friends and honestly I love all dogs except for the ones that act like they want to eat me.

Lol, I think she would be on to us! We will be sad to see Myer go especially since my daughter lives in Florida and we are in NC.

I don't have just one! I love GSD because I grew up around them and they are so easy to train. I had a GSD/mastiff mix that was one of the world's best dogs ever. And I have some bucket list breeds that I've never owned but I want to: Great Pyrenees, Golden, collie (rough)--I'm a sucker for big, fluffy dogs :)

We had a yellow lab and a German shepherd growing up. Bibi the lab was the smartest, kindest and sweetest dog. The GS was very large and intimidating. He only listened to my mom and pretty much ignored everyone else.

We have a miniature dachshund - not saying he's the best breed, but we love him.
I have a doxie too. It’s our 2nd one. Our first one lived to be almost 17. He was my favorite dog that I ever had. But, he was NOT a good dog as far as temperament. Our current dach is perfect for DS, but a little whiny & clingy. I preferred the UMPF! of our previous dach, but it wouldn’t have been good with DS. But, my favorite breed is the golden retriever. We are on our 3rd one. They have said been great, but he is the best dog we ever had. Allows DS (2) to lay on him, sit on him, hug him, etc. He is a great dog. He’s 95 lbs too so he doesn’t have to put up with any of it. But he’s just a wonderful, docile dog. Has been like that since he was a puppy. He’s also a beautiful majestic dog. 😊

We are a hound dog family. Currently have a greyhound and a blue tick coon hound. Both are fabulous dogs. So smart. So snuggly.
I love hound dogs. I had a beagle once. He was what you would expect a beagle to be as far as behavior, but he was an entertaining dog!

I don't have a favorite breed, I love them all. I would have 2 or 3 dogs right now if hubby would let me. Right now we have a yorkie, but only because it took me 20 years to convince hubby to let me have a dog and he would only let me get a little one. Growing up, we always had medium to big dogs and those are what I prefer but love my little pain in the rear yorkie. Yorkie's are very people oriented, so miss thing has to be around her people at all time. Right now she has me backed up into a corner on the couch while she is stretched out touching me. I'm backed up because it's hot and I keep moving away from her and she keeps just right on coming closer and touching me. Evidently someone does put Mommy in the corner.

One of my favorites was a black lab. He was "my" dog and watched over me all the time. If I went swimming he would swim out and get me.. He would gently grab onto my arm and pull me to shore. I don't know how he did it without using his teeth. He was wonderful
Our last dog was a bichon friese. We had never had a small dog before but fell in love. I liked the fact that he didn't shed.. He thought he was a junk yard dog and loved to dig up rocks, twigs, whatever and play in our woods. That breed Is known to be stubborn, and he was stubborn when he didn't want to come in when we called. We could call and call him and he would ignore us and go his merry way. He loved chasing squirrels and chipmunks, so one day we tried yelling, "squirrel" and he immediately stopped, turned around, and came back running and looking for the squirrel, LOL. He never did figure out that most of the time we yelled squirrel, there wasn't any. We loved him a lot and miss him every day since he passed away 4 years ago. Dogs are so precious and only want to give love and be loved. I feel blessed to have the dogs that I had.
