How Strict Are You With Social Distancing?

I not scared of the COVID-19 and wouldn’t wear a mask in public if not for one thing. If my wearing a mask makes someone who is truly scared, is high risk, or shares a home with a person at risk feel more at ease it’s the least I can do. I’m called to love others and show compassion which shows the love of Jesus. In this situation wearing a mask and social distancing does that.

Very serious! I haven't been shopping since this all started, I do delivery or curbside.

I have entered my grandma's house a few times to help her with things that couldn't wait and couldn't be explained to her--resetting her solar panels, adjusting her overly complicated Nest thermostat, and replacing the fluorescent bulb in her kitchen fixture. Oh, I had to go over to put zoom app on her phone so she could join our video birthday party for my daughter too, my grandma is 86 and has never downloaded an app before and I didn't want to miss out, but I stood on the porch and wore gloves and then wiped the screen with alcohol wipes before I would give it back to her. Same with the other stuff I touched in her house, I sanitized it when I was done, just in case.

My grandma is my favorite person in the whole world, besides my kids, and I would never forgive myself if I got her sick!!!!!

I've allowed my daughter to invite friends to play outside in the culdesac with her but they have to stay 6 feet apart and not touch the same toys.

I work construction it’s hard to stay 6 feet from workers
I do respect the 6 foot distance in stores and at church but if a friend walks up I’m not running the other way.
Construction here has been "essential" since the beginning and we've had to take some very complicated logistic measures to ensure attendance our our sites don't exceed certain capacities and that no two trades that would need to work within proximity of each other are present at the same time. All persons on-site have to answer a screening questionnaire each day. There has been strict bans on anybody riding together in vehicles and our site offices no longer admit anyone who isn't a company employee. Full PPE is mandatory when going into any homes that are already occupied, and the residents have to be pre-screened.

As for personal distancing in well, personal situations, I haven't found anybody in months who wants to get close to anybody else. By mid-April we resumed meeting small groups of friends outdoors for walks; it's easier to stay distanced from people you're actually with than strangers out on walking paths. Public gatherings over 15 people are still banned here so there's nothing like that going on, restaurants and hair salons just re-opened on Monday with strict capacity limits. I follow every rule put in place and am quite used to it now. FTR, I believe my chances of winning the lottery are higher than contracting Covid from 1-second contact with a stranger, like walking by somebody in the aisle of a grocery store where there isn't 6' of distance.

We are the 'weird' ones still observing the guidelines. I only grocery shop every 14 days in a mask, staying as far away from people as possible. We've only seen our parents once--we stayed 6 ft. apart, outside and wore masks. One Saturday night, we were wild and went to a drive in restaurant where you eat in your own car. There will be no salon haircuts or eating in restaurants in our near future.

We have relaxed a bit but still following the guidelines. What angers me is when people say they are “over it.” I wonder if they realize how selfish they sound.
We've kind of been germaphobes the past 20 years. We always carry and use hand sanitizer at restaurants. Habit we picked up about 20 years ago on cruise ships.

Just so you know..MD has NOT fully opened. I live here..and we have barely started phase 2

If you read my post I did not say FULLY OPENED.

There are pockets of Counties in Mississippi with an uptick and several counties without an uptick. Same as the other states you listed. Takes 6 hours to travel from South Mississippi to North Mississippi. Lots of communities in between with various social distancing practices in those communities.

Our governor's report yesterday said there was a person with C19 who attended a funeral and now there are many new cases in that area, but did not state where.

Yes, my household is still taking precautions, and social distancing. Most things are open for those who choose to partake.

We are curious if cases will go up next week as casinos opened with social distancing and we did have tourists on our beaches for Memorial day weekend.

Hospitals are not overwhelmed and even daughters doctor yesterday said getting out was ok as long as she's following social distancing- masks, distance, hand sanitizer, hand washing, etc.

Any uptick is too much if you are the one who gets infected. And if look at people gathering there is no social distancing, people will go right back to old habits. Do the people in FL & Ozarks look like the are distancing, masking, using hand sanitizer, washing hands etc....

But if the county with an uptick is 3 hours away from you, chances are not likely that you'll get infected. We are not Lake of the Ozarks or big public beaches in Florida.

Our county of 250,000 people had nine cases last week total. My county compromises 976 square miles. Chances are pretty good that I've not been near those 9 people.

Florida has been holding steady for weeks, our positive rate for testing is dropping, so being open so far hasn't caused a huge issue and hospitals are completely fine.

Pretty much the same in Mississippi. People latch onto a news story that cases are increasing in one area or that there's been bad behavior in one area and that's gospel for the whole state.

Edited my comment above about Florida to not include the whole state, but crowded public beaches.

Many people seem to also forgot the fact that it is known people are still going to get it, but it is managing it going forward and not letting the hospitals overwhelm.

Yup! And many areas/states get a one day spike and everyone freaks out and almost all the spikes are due to a back log of private labs finally sending results in that are sometimes 3 weeks old.

JMO--
Many, many people wear masks and socially distance because they care about their fellow humans. I wear a mask and socially distance out of respect for you. You wear a mask and socially distance out of respect for me. Caring and respecting is not fear.

I went out in public twice yesterday for the first time in 2 months for doctors appointments. I wore a mask and socially distanced myself. None of us get in vehicles with others, although DH had to pick up ds22 a month ago because his car died and he was going to use one of ours. They wore masks and ds rode in the 3rd row. I’ve talked to neighbors 6 feet apart, one if my friend groups meets up in a church parking lot some mornings, 6 feet apart. All groceries get delivered. My adult children who don’t live here visit every few weeks outside. My kids at home do socially distance with friends, never in the same car. Our town is only a couple of miles, but they drive separately an hour to go hiking. We are doing our part.

I just kind of do my best. I will stand about 6 feet away, though I can't be exact (even places with tape on the floor some look off - if you ask me but I'll go by the tape). I will walk by someone else quickly when needed. I try not to freak out about it, but just use common sense and courtesy. I think that works well enough. I do wear a mask in stores. I did eat out at a sandwhich place over the weekend and I wore a mask to order and stuff, taking it off once I was ready to eat.

I am not about to go licking door knobs or railing at Disney but we went to two cookouts this weekend, both with 10 people or under. Felt good to be getting back to human interaction.

That reminds me of this time I saw a very young child being held by a parent sucking on the railing in the line outisde of Spaceship Earth. 🤢 The child kept doing it too, even when corrected by the adults in the group. Man, that was gross!

Please remember what we see on the media is not what "everyone" is doing. I believe most persons are consciously doing what is right: wearing masks while shopping and social distancing. Visiting with a friend is good. I just invited a friend over on Memorial Day. WE sat outside on my patio and talked for 2 hours. I wish her husband would have joined us, but he has MS, is on a drug therapy and decided it was in his best interest to stay home. And this is why we all should consider our actions when out and about because it is about ALL of us, not just ONE.
