When do you guys think WDW DVC RESORTS will be open (not nec. parks)?

I think you should call if you want to keep the nights after 6/14. They have been cancelling entire reservations.

While you are waiting to get through, you can go online and see if the system will let you modify to drop 6/14 and keep the rest. Good luck!
I had a problem trying to modify on line a few weeks ago, I don't recommend it during these busy times.

One solution would be to make the PPE here in the USA, should be able to get to destination in US much faster, no customs to go through. I know Disney gets just about everything from China, maybe they should rethink that, I know it would make me happy if they did, just sayin.... Of course it would probably cut into their profit margin a bit...Oh yeah I guess they would just kick up the prices enough to cover the higher cost...
Initial issue is supply chain. To move creation means also having materials on hand. So it's not necessarily turnkey up front, on the timing required to reopen this summer.

We are passholders at Universal and Disney with a trip booked June 27 - July 5. The news that Disney is not going to be open is not ideal, but we decided to go for it and just do some time at Universal and enjoy a relaxing resort stay. The problem is that we were booked in a studio at Jambo House. I don't see that big combined hotel running for just the few DVC rooms :( I hope I don't regret it, but I switched to OKW. The rooms are newly redone and we will be closer to Universal too :)

Now that Disney plans on reopening before the end of July, is it safe to assume those with August use years will not get any banked 2018 points back?

Resorts are opening June 15th and 22nd so that is about a 6 week timeframe. My gut tells me they will give the extension for at least those whose dates were before the opening was announced. I am not sure if those that booked with them after that...it would certainly be nice as the original policy only included April and June UY as I think it was assumed June 1st opening.

I hope that we hear something from them within the next few days...of course, maybe MS will have more info. Whatever they do, I am sure it won't be exactly what everyone wants. pixiedust: for Aug & Sept UY getting the exception!

We did it just an hour ago with no issues other than a bit of lag time, undoubtedly due heavy usage and Disney IT's sterling reputation. ;)

Not to mention the difference in our curves. China is back to work and churning out. The US is still mostly shut down; which means a US based manufacture won't be able to be fully available for even longer.

Aren't we already using US companies to make PPE for the states and hospitals due to delays from these items coming from China?

I just don't see them opening some but not others (except HH/VB/Aulani). IMO, if they open WDW DVC, they will open all of it. Weird situation if they open the rooms and no parks and everyone ends up at Universal haha.

Will they let us cancel a vacation before the parks re-open?

You can cancel any trip but if it was booked after a June 22nd, then I don’t think the points will get any extensions if you have those that expire,

The only exception I think to this would be a member who booked originally during a closure and then rebooked those points later because they were to expire,

AFAIK, they are still returning borrowed points, but not sure if that will apply any longer to trips after resorts open

Well I was way too optimistic, but at least we have dates now

Approximately between 16 and 18 million points between when DVC closed and the announced opening (variability is from when Hawaii might open)

DVD appear to have lost about 600,000 in points sales if they reopen with the parks or about 120 million in revenue that would have been expected

We absolutely are, and the reason they spun up was because we were still operating (and able to retool) while China was down. China is back up now while we're still down - but who knows for how long or if there's a 2nd wave. Even with those factories retooled, it's not generating anywhere near the volume that China is able to.

The problem is transit/shipping times. Logistics, customs, etc. still isn't up and running. So even though they can churn out enough, it doesn't mean it'll hit the shelves anytime soon.

Exactly my point about making in US.

It's kind of the same issue. Retooling takes time and investment. Then when it's no longer needed, they have to switch back. It's quite a bit of waste. It seems to make more sense to let China crowd their factories and take on the risks of being 100% in production and we just streamline the customs. Most air & sea lanes stayed open, and there's definitely spare passenger craft to be utilized. Personally I'd rather utilize idle industries in their typical specialization than to retrain and revamp.

A lot of PPE is made domestically.

I suspect Disney are going to want "cute" PPE.

What makes you say that?

A new one even opened up outside of Austin, TX. So they are making them in the US. I hope even more new companies form. I can see a need for stuff for a while.
