Summer 2020 Trips - If WDW Is Open, We're Going! *Update: WDW Open July 11*

Hello!! I thought it may be a good place for people who have trips planned for Summer 2020, and are hopeful/intend on visiting if the parks are open.

My trip was originally for Easter and it’s rescheduled for July 23-28th at Pop Century. We’re excited to be back in the parks if they’re open!!!

Do you guys think some regular non DVC resorts will begin to open by July 15 since all the parks are opening and since they’ve frozen the ability for non DVC to make reversions to focus on already planned guests? I’m staying at pop June 23.. wondering if they would cancel on me if pop was closed or if they would move me? I would think pop would be opened bc it’s a large value and so easy to social distance... thoughts? Need some positive thinking here lol

Are you staying June 23 or July 23?

If I had cash reservations, I'd definitely be in the let it go camp. However, I bought a DVC last year, so Disney already has my money. I think it will make for a very interesting trip for all sorts of reasons (like I'm driving 1000 miles by myself, I'm planning on going to Dollywood on the way down, July Magic Kingdom will be unlike anything I've ever experienced before, etc). Who knows, maybe I'll like the crazy road trip or maybe I'll decide that I never want to do something like that ever again.

I definitely think it will be somewhat more laid back since it's not like I can really stress about things I have no control over. Also, Epcot doesn't open until 11... So that means I get to sleep in on my Epcot day. I never do that when I'm at Disney. I don't think I'm capable of sleeping until 9 or 10.

Yeah, Chapek said something on one of those interviews today about how guests who get to come early in this will be in for a magical experience given the capacity restrictions. I tend to believe him on that. After the rush of "first" crowd, bloggers, etc for the first few days, I think it could turn into really spectacular touring conditions for several months. I'm blue now, but we'll probably change our tune as time goes on and the itch grows. :-)

I'm feeling kind of mixed for our August trip, but we're still planning on going (today, lol - as you said mood subject to change :) ). My thinking was Disney is usually pretty good about enhancing magic, so a part of me wants to go just to see. Such unique times we live in right now!

Our week is a 50-50 split for parks and just chilling out at resorts (or in Orlando) anyway, so right now we're generally feeling OK about it since we were planning to go only every other day to the parks this time.

My one bummer is we were planning on buying MNSSHP tickets when we get there (DH is military) but I'm thinking it'll be capped out by then. But that's OK, we'll be out of our zip code!! (we're still under Phase 0 in Northern Virginia).

I'm at the let it go point myself. I canceled the car rental reservation and moved the hard rock reservation to the end of May 2021. I can't spend the money for a limited experience.
I made a hotel reservation in Hershey for August. We can drive there easily. I can deal with a limited experience where there is abundant chocolate. :rotfl2:
Lots of chocolate would make up for any shortfalls! :D

At this point, we are out. I think if it was just my husband and I we would go. However, we would be bringing our baby for his first trip and this is just not at all how I imagined it. We'll be rescheduling for next year and hoping that the parks more closely resemble the experience we are hoping for.
Hope that Disney pulls through with some magic for all those who will attend this summer!

Hello All!

I'm sure everyone is well aware of the news that came out, but in case anyone has missed it, this is what is going on:
- DVC Resorts will open June 22nd (no official word on non-DVC resorts or the regular side of the deluxe resorts)
- Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will open to guests on July 11th
- Epcot & Hollywood Studios will open to guests July 15th
- There will be a new reservation system to reserve entrance to the parks. There is limited data on this reservation system, and we're waiting for more details.
- WDW has paused the ability to book new hotel reservations and tickets until further notice
- Disney has canceled ALL ADRS, FP+s, and EXPERIENCES (think guided tours, makeovers, driods etc).
- Any form of the DDP is unavailable for the foreseeable future. Their is no date for when it will return. Guests will DDP on their reservations should see a refund for the cost of the DDP.
- FP+ will be disabled for the foreseeable future - we do not know when this will come back
- ADRs will be available to book 60 days prior, rather than 180 days prior
- Resort guests will have priority access to re-book ADRs
- Disney will email guests that are effected by this
- AP will be limited on how many reservation dates they can hold, are subject to blackout dates, and some pass benefits may not be available
- There will be AP previews of some sort, so please watch emails for details regarding this

Hearing a rumor that guests with trips in July will be placed in DVC property if their rooms are not available. Can anyone confirm ? anyone else heard this

Rumors are rumors 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s been 2 days since Disney announced their opening plan. Lets wait and see.

I’m hearing it from my travel agency though that is rated platinum with Disney. I am asking if anyone else connected to a travel agency has heard this. Sorry I should have clarified. But I honestly don’t mind it is a rumor I want to hear if other people heard it. Tbh all we can do is speculate

I really don't think Disney is going to have a problem finding rooms in July given the number of cancellations that they're receiving. The only question mark is the people at Coronado Springs if the NBA takes it over, but I suspect those people will be moved to Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans without a problem.

**babble alert**

Our March trip was cancelled and we rebooked for July. Mid-April, when COVID seemed to be at it's worst, we felt like it was safer to cancel our July trip and just wait for 2021, so we moved our reservation.

Now, here we are in June and we have re-opening plans and are starting to see the world, and Universal, open up again. We are starting to know more about the virus and I'm feeling "better" about this unfortunate situation.

All that is to say - I WANT TO GO TO WDW, but am currently unable to book. 🤪 Canceling our July trip was the right thing for us at the time, but now we feel like we are able to shorten our trip and lower our expectations enough to make a trip worth it (depending on cost).

We are APs, so I'm hoping Disney will open up hotel reservations soon. I'm holding out hope that we may have the opportunity to book for late July, but understand that there is a possibility that we may not be able to. ;-(

I completely understand your feelings - they're so valid! It was definitely a hard wave to ride during this time, and as someone with a July trip (also an AP) I'm still on the fence if our trip is "worth it". The grass is always greener on the other side, but you may have still decided to cancel.
