Update on my trip Sept 26th - 28th - I've booked a room at Paradise Pier in case being on site gives you an advantage for getting into the park. I'm keeping my reservation at Candy Cane Inn if there is no benefit of staying on site.

We are coming sept26-oct 4 at this point, although it is completely up in the air at this point. I am worried with reduced attendance we will not be able to go the number of days we would like. So we may shorten our trip.

You may or may not care (heck, that my by why you chose those dates) but you are aware that Oct 2-4 is Anaheim Gay Days?

There are a lot of things I worry about with a September trip, but with no control and no way to guess what things will be like in 4 months, I'm choosing to stick my head in the sand for now 😉

Last year in November we booked a DVC rental at the Grand for this coming Sept 13-17. When the lockdown started I felt quite confident that this would be fine by that time. It was 6 months away. Of course now its just a wait and see thing. I am due to make the final 40% payment on the DVC rental at end of July so I have to make a decision by then to cut my losses. Already have airfare tickets reserved and paid (great price $49 each way) and that can be used later if needed. But the rental portion I've paid so far may be lost. I have not seen any real solid info about anything that can be done for the DVC owners/renters.

I also have a Marriott timeshare and their policy is to let you cancel and either use it within 120 days, or put it into Interval International. Don't know what the DVC folks can do.

Our trip is now canceled. The airline cancelled the flight so luckily we will be refunded. Bummed that the trip is not happening, but hopefully in a year or two when things have calmed down we can rebook.

It will really depend on what points they used as to what can be done with your reservation, also on availability. I had trips in April and May that I tried to reschedule, and availability was gone (in March!) for any dates I wanted in October, November, and December at the VGC since it is such a small number of rooms. In addition, if the points are close to the end of their Use Year they may not be able to move them. One nights worth of points for my Memorial Day weekend trip got stuck so that I can't transfer them to a reservation I want for Feb 2021 due to technicalities that DVC is still working on fixing. (In theory I should be able to call the first week of June and they'll be restoring the points for me to use in my next Use Year.)
I'm hoping that you rented through an individual person and not through David's as many who use David's have had a very difficult time with refunds/moving/etc.
If you can, talk to your owner now if you want to cancel or move a September reservation. There's still decent availability for Feb-April 2021 right now. If you have more questions about how DVC works, feel free to PM me as well.

I was able to piece together a two night stay at VGC for 9/18-20 after cancelling 8/28-30 due to uncertainity about Covid and DVC banking rules. Super excited to get the nights- right now one is a one bedroom and other is studio, hoping for a studio for the first night too, but we will see. This is a mom and me trip with me and my 10 year old son. We are excited and hoping it happens. We do have a January weekend booked as backup.

Adding to the fun... We have a Labor Day weekend trip booked in addition to a July trip (unlikely) and October Fall Break.

We moved our May trip to August 29-Sept 3rd at VGC. Fingers crossed!!!
I'm impressed you managed to find availability that week! I've had my 1 bdr reserved for Labor Day weekend since the 11 month mark, which was supposed to be the last trip of our AP year, and ever since the closure I've been trying to find nights in Oct/Nov/Dec to no avail.

Today I moved our Thanksgiving trip to Labor Day weekend. Staying 9/4 - 9/7 at the Paradise Pier Hotel. We really need a break and decided that we didn't want to wait until Thanksgiving. Already have tickets paid for from at the beginning of the year when we thought we'd be going in March.

Should I remove you from the November Check In list?
